Most species will like to have a minimum of 18" x 12" floor space in a home aquarium but the bigger the tank the better. Most breeders will house a pair 12" x 12".

Ammonia can sometimes cause blackening but since there is no ammonia? I am stumped on that one.

A pair of dwarf cichlids in a decent size discus set-up won't have any negative affect.

Just being alive stresses discus doesn't it?

Question: Do you know if a dwarf would spawn with a German blue? That would be an explosive color combination.

They won't breed with a different species but different colour variations can breed. e.g. electric blue ram with german blue.

so im guessing dwarfs should be kept with dwarfs and the regular south american cichlids that get bigger should be kept with their own kind?

Yes. Although in big tank you could keep dwarf cichlids with didcus or angels.

great video , my gold rams spawned a few weeks ago , they dug a hole in the sand and layed thier eggs there I thought that was a wee bit strange
