Tim ends this tear jerking beautiful piece of music with a simple,"Thank you very much." A person listens to this and he can't help but to believe in god. Tim was not of this world.
This song was in the scene in the movie Comin Home when Bruce Dern shed his dress blue Marine uniform and walked into the ocean and drown himself after "coming home" from Vietnam mentally ruined, while at the same time Jon Voight was speaking to young students as a wounded parapalegic Vietnam veteran who had bought the war and "valor" hook, line and sinker and he was telling them that it ain't worth killing other humans for any DAMN reason and that the soldier rah rah was BULLSHIT!
The irony is Mr. Voight is the complete opposite of the character in real life. I've seen him on fox news, talking like some neocon propaganda mouthpiece!
I had another thought about Bruce Dern running into the ocean, I may be totally wrong but I took it that he was going in to "cleanse" himself and wash away all the memories and deeds of what he did and saw over there
i remember when my brother went off to boot camp in 1970. I thank god nothing happen to him. This song takes me back, I'm 51 now and still makes me sad.
@jameysan... you thought right.... :) thanks so much -that would be a perfect song to slow dance to! (honestly, you could do just as good or better) :) thanks for thinking of me J...
I will always remember him forever, I was born in Cambridge, Mass in '49 I don't know where he was born but it doesn't really matter. Love is what it is and he always represented love to me. and that was good enough. Love is better than the government and the constant bickering and bullshit that goes on everyday.
he had such a great way of conveying emotions, loss, pain, hope, loneliness, his expression is timeless. we can only be grateful of having the pleasure of knowing his tunes.
I will never ever forget the lyrics of this song that go over and over in my mind almost every day. It is my fondest and most sincere hope that she will remember me and those 4 months of what heaven must be like back back in 1970.
he was such a wonderful talent

Probably, you were too impatient in an effort to explore unknown oceans of music and we as your fans could not follow you. RIP.
