  • i know others have asked, but does anyone know the key of this version sutton sings, the last note is a B, right?

  • Perfection.

  • Probably gonna use this for an audition <3

    It's such a fun song c:

  • Is it just me or does it seem like a "TMMesque" song? It's probably just because Sutton Foster is singing.

  • Thanks so much for putting this on here! It's a great song and I'm using it for an audition this friday:) Thanks a ton!!

  • what key is this in?

  • according to the MTI script and the score for Grand Hotel this is actually called "Girl in the Mirror"

  • i loveeeee her

  • Grand Hotel

  • what is this from???

  • We are doing this play at my school, and I'm auditioning for this song and role. :)

  • OH NO I RATED IT A ONE INSTEAD OF A 5!!! did not mean to do that. this is amazing

  • When was this recorded?

  • its from the Maury Yeston Songbook in 2003. The album (which can be found on itunes) is full of Yeston's compositions sung by people like Alice Ripley (from Next to Normal) and Christin Ebersole (Oklahome/42nd Street revivals)

    its an AMAZING album!

  • Love this song!! It's my song and dance solo!! love it!

  • Wow, this thia litterly the story of my life! "I wanna be that girl in the mirror in that mirror there! I wanna be the girl with golden hair(well in my case brunette hair) Up on a silver screen in almost all the world!!!" One day I will be that girl! You just wait!

  • i totally agree and i really need to get into a private high school for the arts and i am already worrying about auditions in seventh grade

  • btw that was supposed to be a reply to puppypowwow's comment

  • yea, i'm in sixth grade and my bff, who shares this account with me (p.s. isabelle was the one that left the comment) has a talent agent, so she's just waiting for her big break!

  • that's awesome she's lucky lol tell her i said good luck ^^

  • it's me isabelle! i'm back! an thanks! hats off 2 u 2!

  • lol thank you! if i knew you wed be buddies i think idk why but i think we would be all of us lol xD

  • lol! that is really cute!

  • lol i painted my face today it hurt to take it off

  • aww, i hate when that happens!

  • lol it wasn't even face paint

  • i want to go to hollywood and be an actor plzzzz god i want to go

  • Have to say, I like Jane Krakowski's version better. The originals are always the best.

  • I NEED A GOOD AUDITION SONG!

  • Gimme Gimee - Thoroughly Modern Millie

Mamma Who Bore Me - Spring Awakening

    Blue Wind - Spring Awakening

    or this song :)

  • millie and spring awakening are really overdone, its better to be different. And for that matter, stay away from grease, wicked, and disney songs too. Nobody wants to here "Part of your world" all day, so look for lesser known songs. If you like a particular composer, look through there songbook for something less known.

  • Stay away from anything from 2000+

Find a good song for your range.

If your an alto/mezzo soprano (I'm a mezzo, I can hit the notes)

I recommend Anything Goes, and if you can Blow Gabriel Blow.

If it's with an extremely popular musical, like Wicked, do not pick it's signature song. I guarantee 2 people at least will sing Popular or Defying gravity at your audition.

Choose classics, they go more for that.

  • jason robert brown is always good...still hurting is a good ballad or climbing uphill for an upbeat. come to your senses from tick tick boom is also good. songs from wild party are good too like look at me now or life of the party.

  • everyone KNOWS you DONT do JRB at auditions unless you want your piano player to fuck up....

  • maybe you have a crap accompianist then? mine handles still hurting just fine!

  • fatandhomo has a point, it's incredibly hard to play;; it has a lot of cleft changes. you can sing this at a venue or for a cabaret because your pianist should have been practicing, but for auditions JRB and sondheim are sometimes not even allowed by the auditioner...so you never know! check out the description first!

  • I swear, Sutton could sing the yellow pages and sound amazing.

  • lol totally agreed.

  • i did this show. =]] Grand Hotel

  • she's...sooo...talented...omygosh, I'm jealous!

  • i danced to this song for my 2nd solo... my solo song started at 22 seconds of this song

  • this might be my musical theatre solo next year!

  • Does anyone know where I can get the instrumental or karaoke for this song?

  • does anyone know what key this is in?

  • i love this song and i love sutton singing it!!

  • Do you know where I can get the Karoke or instruments for this?

  • holy shit i didnt know she sang grand hotel!

  • I don't have "There's Nothing Rougher Than Love", but I'll try to find it. Sounds interesting. =/

  • That's not the fault of Sutton Foster or the arranger... That's just the way the song was written. If you have a problem, it's with Maruy Yeston.

And in the section you're talking about (after 1:45), she's talking about her life of poverty in a German village. It's hard to make that cute or playful.

  • Right, well it's official. She needs to play this part.

  • Broadway has needed Sutton Foster for quite awhile. She is the epitomy of true theater.

  • Can you please send me this song? my email is disneygirl125 @ yahoo . com without the spaces. THANK YOU!

My friend sang this in a cabaret. Let's just say she wasn't this godd. lol.

  • Sure thing!

  • same with me!

  • @MissElphieThropp
