@emz33 I was going to call them progressive rock, due to their eclectic sound on El Cielo and other concept albums. But for now, let's just call it Rock, shall we? :-)
@tophere707 Totally agree, I started on El Cielo so I am around 6 or 7 years now. Can't wait for the new album, because to be honest this album was a bit bland for me.
shameful. this video's been out almost a full year and it only has 40k views. it makes me hope that in the future, bands like dredg will be the pink floyd of the present and not people like justin bieber.
I have all their albums, love em all, seen em half a dozen times...just wish they had better stage presence. That alone would reach out far to new fans. I just saw them wednesday and all they do is stand in place. I just want so much for these guys bc they deserve it!
@shaygoose i hear what you're saying about stage presence, but sometimes the best bands don't need real engaging stage presence. the music alone is enough to hypnotize you.. i've never seen dredg live though so i'm probably not the best judge
@Bullion4 dredg is awesome live :D. Best experience ever. Their stage presence was fitting for the music. Mellow, methodical, harmonious. Just movements when needed.
Of almost all of the modern bands I've listened to, Dredg is the least afraid to take steps in completely new directions with each album, while still retaining the contemplative and emotional tone that they started all the way back with Kayasuma and Is Not Everything. Yeah, I'll admit that they are not as heavy or ambitious as they once were, but try and find another band with albums like Lietmotif, El Cielo and Pariah in the same catalogue. I have yet to hear a song of theirs I dislike.
@spunkylovechild I agree with you. I think Thrice and The Dear Hunter are contenders to another band like Dredg. Also, Between the Buried and Me isn't afraid to change direction, either. BTBAM changes from Silent Circus to Alaska to Colors then to The Great Misdirect. They have amazing songs you just have to appreciate the "beautiful noise" that comes before the softer portion of the song. Check out Mordecai if you get a chance. : )
Love this band such great talent. I get to see them today with circa survive so stoked started listening to this band in 97 glad for others to check them out and enjoy them.
@dankestbudz420 I don;t get it...its like they slaughtered this song? When it was played live when it first came out it was amazing/powerful? But this just doesn't sound like dredg...
@armandgreene14 Dredg is very artstic. Check out Bug Eyes and Ode to the Sun by Dredg. Bug Eyes is pretty mainstream sounding and a great song, but I have never heard it on the radio? Ode to the Sun is pretty mainstream sounding too...Anyways plz stop replying, I am getting sick of commenting.

@Dontblink4206 Lietmotif is their masterpiece. While they have yet to really meet its quality as a cohesive concept album, I don't think that should discount their more recent stuff. El Cielo through now are all fantastic albums.
who the fuck cares about mainstream! my fucking god! why does everybody always have to say if they go mainstream or somethig! god dam it! its their living maybe they need more money or something, but either way who gives a fuck MUSIC IS MUSIC underground mainstream or if you play in your garage. just let it be, and listen. ENJOY!
catch without arms was, in my opinion, their best album. With El Cielo at a really close 2nd. This album though, idk, it sounds too mainstream and uninspired. Perhaps they'll come back with a really great album. All bands have their ups and downs, i'm sure. Or they'll keep putting out shitty albums, who knows? They were a great band, for now.
The members of Dredg are incredible talented and amazing. I'm so glad they are finally getting the recognition they deserve! I wish they had not shortened this song though, them middle part is so excellent!
@kmudrakify respectfully, i think it distracts to much from the catchy simplicity of the rest of the song. it sounds less like a breakdown and more like a seperate song altogether
My God these guys are awesome. What I still can't believe is that the one time they came near my hometown they got booed off the fucking stage. I wish people around here appreciated more than just fucking rap culture...
@ZombieAutopilot0 Yeah, I am so sorry...I can't believe they would be treated like that :( :( Then again, not many people are open-minded enough to try and appreciate TRUE art and feelings like we can.:)
I remember back in 05 I tried to do a youtube search on dredg and there were about 2 videos. I'm glad a great band has gone further than northern california.
I love this song... but my only complaint is this: It feels like they're trying to hard to sound like their second album, El Cielo. Which is okay and all, I suppose, but... I don't know. This album just doesn't feel the same.
Good songs, but it's got a funky feel to it. Hmm...
@TheProgNerd I just found them the other day. LOVE them, this is going to be a tough question to answer but... I heard a song on the radio they were singing. The lyrics had something to do with an island or a boat... do you know what song I'm talking about?

@TheProgNerd to play at a place like dodger stadium you need to be signed to a gigantic major label, which is something that they don't want, i'm sure.

@sanchezsick1 most definitely. i come on youtube and watch dredg videos and the people that act all high any mighty about being dredg fans makes me sick. they're an amazing band, no doubt. but just because your a fan doesn't make you as awesome as them.
