  • wow she was so fukin sexy

  • man i miss the 90's

  • you cant spell pop

  • there is a fail in the music video

  • Classic !

  • Wheres peter? hes spose to be dressed like a cat?

  • People going on about the cat need to do their freaking research..this whole video was a tribute to her idol Gene Kelly. LOOK IT UP. JESUS it's called art people!

  • One of my favorite clips and song form the childhood :) And definitely one of the sickest beats :)

  • the cat is to represent a black guy without actually putting one on tv. u know rascim.

But i love how its just her actually dancing, and a crazily good cartoon. music videos today suck.

  • back in the days when singers didnt have to to undress to look good i think peopl like me in the age of 25 to 33 are lucky to be born in the 80's ! the music ,the cartoons, the toys ! they were all better than they are now .Plus it was a lighter time back then .kids were kids and life was a little less serious.things were newer back then, we were more entertained by the little things in life than we are now.i feel sorry for the kids who are growing up now..man i wish i could go back that..

  • It has nothing to do with personification or a metaphor for the cat nor an artistic statement .... it was a gimick... it was to utalise the technology and sell more records... it was a great marketing ploy catering to the then fixated MTV generation.... Think about it..... ------> 'Who Framed Roger Rabbit' (1988)...... and this song (1989) ;)

  • @LeeboProductions Harlem Shuffle by the Stones also used that animation / real life thing

  • I <3 the beat!

  • Why would anyone dislike this?

  • They don't make videos like this anymore.

  • I love the video =) I remember I first saw the video and heard the song on VH1 for a couple of weeks. After that I searched for it on YouTube and now I'm addicted to the song. I also remember I have seen it being parodized in Family Guy. And the lyrics is just great: "I don't like cigarettes" But I like the smoke" or "He likes the movies, and I like the TV's". Man this is genius Paula Abdul =)

  • watch?v=VbN04PZ5unc&feature=related

  • her best video ever!

  • I love the cat man. I miss animation like that, today everything is replaced with lazy Flash junk.

And people, please. The cat represents a cartoon, not a real animal, in contrast to RL Paula Abdul. They probably used a cat because it was easier to animate and for people to take him less seriously.

  • Love this coreography!!!

  • When i was a kid i luved that song and im still luve it!

  • another classic

  • It's a joy to watch Paula Abdul strut her stuff, she created quite an impression in the pop music without stirring any controversy or scandal unlike others LOL!!!

  • that was my fav track when i was kid !!! :)

  • Wow this paula is the american idol paula? wow?

  • @TheNazified Yeah, although she started singing way way before that in american idol. She was there in Janet Jackson's beginning of singing career.

  • The better thing, a captivation of artist, paula abdul I adore you from Colombia

  • The better thing, a captivation of artist, paula abdul I adore you from Colombia

  • The better thing, a captivation of artist, paula abdul I adore you from Colombia

  • childhood memories hahaha i loved this video as a kid

  • cause im dressed like a cat hehehehehehe

  • She's gorgeous

  • the cat gives me diabetes

  • i actually kinda like it.....

  • Reminds me of Simon and Paula :P HAHA! XD

  • psh i dun care what ya'll say about it now.. cuz you know damn well when this video first came out, everyone loved it! :P if you try to ignore the dorkiness, the dancing and editing in this is pretty good, too :}

  • o god this is so corny and retarded...

  • IT AINT FICTION. <3 -krumps.

  • she looks exactly the same....

  • @yuzupp0 Yep,Ask Simon

  • Sooo, what we learn from this is that Paul Abdul and a dancing, singing cat are complete opposites, but are hot for each other? I was always slightly/moderately weirded out by this video...

  • @hideyourloveaway128 The cat is suppose to be a personification (always used in poetry) where it's someone Paula would less likely to date.

  • @PopCulture20.. Lmao! stop it! your killing me!....you should do standup comedy...u would rake it in!!

  • She was beautiful back then !

  • fucking video

  • I fuckin love it...

  • Paula at her Best. Very Cutting Edge At the Time

  • wait... where's Peter Griffin!?!

  • haha oh my fuck this is fugly..

  • Why does this song never seem to get old?!

  • cause its cool music

  • man she can dance!!!! and she still can!!!

  • I love that Romany Malco is the cat. :)

  • que linda!

  • i have no idea why i can't stop listening to this...

  • this video is awesome and i agree that music has changed so much

  • And to think that clip wast the norm in those days. Nothing special by then standards... But now...

  • I'm dressed like a cat.

  • hahah paula used to be so amazing, now shes fucked xD

  • "cause Im dressed like a cat" :)

  • I'll admit, the whole cartoon thing probably wasn't the best plan. But "beastiality"? Come on... no. Someone mentioned Paula dancing dirty. Not even close. At least not by today's standards. Paula Abdul is an amazing performer. I almost forgot what an accomplished tap dancer she was! She's just great.

  • this song rawks! i use to sing it all the time :L xx

  • i saw this in family guy

  • @ASHBYHAYNES i did just now to i hadnt heard it before and looked up wow thats funny

  • Not only is this video hinting towards some form of cartoon cat bestiality… but I’d be damned if that cat just didn’t say - “and I like to smoke…” a cartoon saying smoking is good? God I miss the days when this kind of stuff wasn’t taboo…. Like when running around with a bee bee gun shooting each other was considered safe for the whole family! Good god! What happened to us?

  • @Pixel088 well i mean really more stuff has opened up. just look at how much they get away with on TV? the Boondocks? Family Guy? Comedians making playing race cards, but yet it still seems that a Politically Correctness is in effect. but yeah, truthfully looking at this i miss that type of animation, zany cartoons of the 90s. and haha, the "bestiality" made me think of Fritz the cat, who broke the barriers for this animated cat, to get it on with Paula LoL.

  • @MidKnightBlaze ...If you're going to talk about what ''they' get away with on TV,' then 'The Boondocks' should be near, if not at, the bottom of your list, and cartoons like 'South Park (Along w/Family Guy)' should be at the top. Hell, South Park alone gets away with so much stuff it's ridiculous, yet you listed The Boondocks instead?

Also, if you're going to talk about offensive cartoons, do your research-Many older cartoons (i.e. Looney Tunes) were VERY offensive and are stil banned today.

  • @Entropy161 yeah, I'm not offended by these shows much myself, it's all comedy, you don't like it, don't watch. sometimes I don't, cuz they can try to hard to shock. I was just at college talking about this, and maybe by using 'nigga' alone, BD is seen by some to have its own separate controversy . Never said "top of the list." debatable. Always felt that PC people wanting to cancel Boondocks in general and not (if any want to) South Park, after all the shit they pulled, doesn't make sense.

  • @MidKnightBlaze ...And about South Park, Family Guy, and even The Simpsons at times, I'm not 'offended,' either (If you were referring that to me, though it looked like you were speaking in general)...Until they lie on Anti-black racism in the U.S (For example, South Park, in a recent episode, said that blacks like to guilt-trip whites by saying that "Nothing's changed" in America, which is clearly a lie, and makes me wonder where the hell the creators got that white racist apologist bull from).

  • @Entropy161 Heh, and don't worry my dude, i'm quite familiar with the Tunes, shooting themselves at the end of episodes, and the Flintstones cigarette ads, but unless someone's dick popped out on screen I never knew about, Fritz holds it down among them :b

  • @MidKnightBlaze It's all good, man, but the 'Tunes shooting themselves wasn't what I wasn't referring to--I was referring to the fact that many early Looney Tunes cartoons were VERY racist, mainly against blacks, but also the Japanese and Jews. The cartoons are not only all on Youtube (One is called 'All this and Rabbit Stew'), but admired/revered by racist white people who love to have so-called 'beloved' media that supports their bullshit 'Reverse-Racism/White racist apologist' nature...

  • OH yesssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss

  • Opposites Attract- Simon and Paula anyone?!

  • @naley1996 I'd like to see Simon trying to follow Paula's steps...

  • I am dressed like a cat.

  • Nobody's mentioned it, but if memory serves, the animator for this video was Ralph Bakshi.

  • @merloon The animation was directed by Chris Bailey and a team at Disney.

  • @koss911 I stand corrected, thank you. I'm pretty sure Bakshi worked on some video in the 80s, though... any idea what it could have been?

  • @merloon He directed the Rolling Stones' music video for "Harlem Shuffle." With animation done by John K (the guy who later created Ren & Stimpy).

  • I love that cat XD

  • WHAT A DANCER! I LUV U PAULA!!! :)

  • There's a mouse at 2:41. Is this a Tom and Jerry reference? Hmm... Really makes me think...

  • @HannahJuly I never noticed that until now. Hmm, that makes me think too.

  • So Paula had a thing for cartoon characters??? Yikes!!!

  • My gosh you people are SO STUPID!!!! Paula does not masturbate to cats nor does she date them!!!! The cat is being given a personification (an object or animal being given human qualities) which is always used in poetry..............now I understand why art isn't for everyone..........because of stupidity like this!!!!

  • @PopCulture20 yea, was it just made a into a cat cos the emcees name is Scat Kat, or was MC Scat Kat only made for this album?? This was my fav song when it came out when I was 10, to tell you the truth the don't construct stongs like they used to. At the time this was very creative and very modern. Wich is one of the reason I loved it :)

  • @PopCulture20 Stupid people don't get art. Yr wasting yr time on them. Great clip.

  • @PopCulture20 LMAO!! could you say that again, please...this time do it loudly ...some funny sh..t!.......54 people liked this......funny world!..LOL!!!

  • @PopCulture20 THANK YOU!!! someone who gets the art in this music video

  • smokin tweed

  • are you kidding

  • why is this so hot?

  • I really like this song and all and the video is really cool... But does anyone else find it strange that Paula is flirting and hinting at certain relationsships with a cartoon Cat?

    "Not Sayin'... Just Sayin'..."

  • What a dancer!

  • EXECELENT!!!

  • this was used in a family guy episode

  • @jopdap1 Yeah! I remember ahah!

  • still the best song

  • good video,and paula's so sexy..loved to shag her

  • one word...AWSOME

  • such a good dance and singer!

  • MC Skat Kat has a whole lot of swagg & I love it :)

  • I love this song xxxx

  • 1:35 looks like beastiality..... :O

  • thiss iss oldd ass shytt, butt i still likee itt .

  • in all seriousness, why the fuck did the producers of this music video put a god-damn cartoon cat in it, didn't they watch it before they put it out?...idiots!!!

  • @MrKodiakAttack New to 80s music I'm guessing? Take a trip through the videos of the time and this one will seem normal. 80s music was alot of experimenting and trying out new things (something missing from music now BTW). It was mostly about having fun and making the music and videos fun for the listeners.

  • haha paula SUCKS SO MUCH AT EVERYTHING, this is worse than 80s fag music fuck me, shes gonna be dead in a gutter in a couple years from her alcoholism now that shes gone from idol

  • @fuggsakes Dude just because youre mom suck dick doesnt mean paula has to XD

  • I love this song! Paula Abdul is very talented!

  • does anyone find it weird that her freakin boyfriend is a bloody cat!??!?!

  • The cat is voiced by Simon Cowell. It's how he broke in to the music business

  • Shut the fuck up. Cowell is an A&R guy. He didn't voice the cat.

  • yo ceolburg, this is the 80S

    dumb as*s

  • it still feels so wrong that she is a person and he is a cat..

  • love this music vid!Wonderful performance.the best funky clip ever! Greathanks

  • It's a neat concept, although certain bits of this video creep me out just a bit.

  • This is the jam! First album I ever owned. Loved me some Paula Abdul!

  • this is one of my fav. videos of all time

  • Dammit I wish I had a rewiind button because I miss the goodtimes now my life is annoying manily because of high school but these were the good times~

  • So this is why Paula Abdul was a judge on American Idol.

  • I loved is when I was a kid. Haven't seen it for ages :)

  • this is cool!

  • OMG!! I've never seen this before. I'm glad I thought of Paula in Janet's Control videos. That is one of the reasons I saw this. I never never she tapped danced. Go Paula!!

  • wow. so much better than the justin beiber, miley cyrus, and jonas brothers crap we have these days. music has definitely deteriorated.

  • NO KIDDING!!!

  • @Brianfox6795 hells yeah

  • @Brianfox6795 People who thought this was crap in 1990 were saying the same thing while negatively comparing Paula Abdul and her pop music peers to performers from earlier generations. It's hard to believe now, but 20 years hence, the nostalgia prone will be singing the praises of Bieber, Cyrus and the brothers Jonas. And so it goes.

  • @HumbleHarry I do not think so. Good art is about subversion, which is sticking it to the man. There is no subversion in jonas brothers, miley, or justines "safe music"

Paula got away with some dirty dancing here because it is a cartoon cat and the powers that be did not notice it. This video will live on forever while the bands you mentioned will be a footnote in music history if at that. Go listen to some alice cooper etc and listen to real music

  • @jparso3 Pornography is also subversive, but not everyone would call it art. What constitutes "good" music is entirely subjective. All I'm saying is that today's young fans of the Jonas Bros. may, indeed, grow up to provide an intellectual justification for why the Jonas Bros. are artistically compelling, similar to what you're doing in regards to Paula Abdul. Time will tell. .

  • @Brianfox6795

Yeah, there's no school like the old school! lol

  • wow good singer

  • I forgot what a good dancer Paula was! Tapping Dancing! She was awesome! Cute song!

  • I remember watching this on Sabrina the teenage witch. Salem watches this and tries to dance to this and then stalks paula abdul. love this song:)

  • lol

  • i love u more than any ....

  • paula... I wish to be your next " LATIN AMERICAN CAT" ....hehehehe....beautiful woman I send a kiss.!!!!

  • 90's the best

  • I wanna know how she bangs that cat

  • *slain*

  • The horrid truth is that Paula Abdul is a furry.

    Cool song, though.

  • i miss the 90's :(

    this song is amazing :)
