  • Come on guys, let´s be fair here. Sure the way he starts the motion is in itself (very lame), but he goes for a 1 rep max, and clearly it is his "spotter" who was a complete jk here. That said, i simply don´t get why peeps is going for the 1 rep max?... BP is a great exorcise, but VERY misused due to big ego´s.

  • @LaszloBencze Collars would not have let the weights fall off the ends of the bar which would have made a bad situation worse.

  • @harbar3000 If you have a useless spotter, as in this case, you're right. Same would be true if you were training alone in your basement. If you were unable to finish the lift, you could tilt the bar and dump the weight. HOWEVER, spotters are not supposed to be useless! They are actually supposed to help you finish the lift. A good spotter would have sensed immediately when the lifter had lost control of the bar and would have assisted. In this case collars would have made the lift more secure.

  • @thawalmartgangbanger Bullshit, arching your back makes it easier to balance the weight. Mark Rippetoe encourages a small arch in your back. If anything not arching your back forces you in an awkward position.

    Also comp rules only stipulate that you need shoulders and butt on the bench, not back.
