Emo is not a way of thinking or a style of clothes at all. It has nothing to do with whether or not you are "greatful" (grateful) of your life. Stop paying attention to MTV. It has absolutely nothing to do with any of that.

Rites of Spring, Fugazi, Embrace, SDRE, Moss Icon, and the like are real emo bands and they sound nothing like the crap that gets churned out today, like MCR or Dashboard Confessional.

MCR and Dashboard Confessional aren't anywhere near emo.
