he was waiting for the cockpit to show in the right direction away from the fireball. If he edjected on a wrong angle, he would be either be hit by the planes tail, or roastet in the fireball.

The canopy goes at 1:18. My guess is that the PIC was trying to wait for some stabilization before departing the a/c. The g's probably started building the second that starboard wing came off. Sad demise of a Scooter 4 sure!

This happened during a bomb deployment test. The bomb rack failed and came loose. The A-4 had a pilot and camera man to film the test. Both ejected safely.

i believe they were testing a new type of bomb. the A-4 was a chase plane. dunno why he was so close but turbulence from the wing of the F-18 caused the bomb to spin toward the A-4

Yeah that's right. I saw a documentary on this, the turbulence like you said caused the bomb to spin back up.

Oh no, he ejected safly. At 1:20 you can see the canopy from the A-4 opening. The parachute doesn't open up until the pilot is far away from the aircraft itself.

actualy this took place during the f-18 test flights (note the color marking)they were testing weapon systems in this case a 1000 bomb drop unfortunately as the pilot fired a malfunction took place and the bomb pod also disconnected from the wing still attached to the bomb witch made it fly in the paths of the A-4
