I loved the first Trinity Sessions, but I love the Revisted CD even more. Jeff Bird has been touring with them lately. What a talented bunch of musicians. Makes that crap you see on American Idol look like........well, CRAP!
My wife was never a Cowboy Junkies fan. By their name she wrote them off as a country group, which she doesn't like. She saw this video (sent by me) and came around. Now she is a fan. While Ryan is not a "Junkie", he helped my wife to appreciate one of Canada's greatest contemporary groups.
This was on HDNet on sunday, Great concert, I recorded a bunch of it. Can't seem to find the sweet jane set they did on youtube, That would be my 1st upload!
I've spent a thousand hours listening to "Trinity" and it never gets old. Sounds like Ryan must have felt the same way. He feels every note of that song, and it shows. As for myself, I'd be happy to trade all my golden tomorrow's for one hour with Margo. I'd call that a bargain, the best I ever had.......
Hearing this song now is like revisiting an old friend...."The Trinity Session" was one of my fave albums in 1988-89. I listened to it countless times for a couple of years until 1991...on the plane to L.A., Hong Kong and Japan....in the freezing winter months of New England and more. Gosh, it brought back so many memories and some tears as well. I need to find this album again as it got lost somewhere in my collection of CDs during all the relocations I had over the years.
This is a close to as being as good as the original as they come. Does anyone know the story behind this music? is it a CD or DVD? thanks for posting this classic
I've got 200 more miles of rain asphalt in line before I sleep But there'll be no warm sheets or welcoming arms to fall into tonight In Nashville there is a lighter in a case for all to see it speaks of dreams and heartaches left unsung And in the corner stands a guitar and lonesome words scrawled in a drunken hand I don't travel past, travel hard before and I'm beginning to understand
"In line" would make some sense, "lined up," that I inevitably have to deal with because it's lined up.
"And lines," the white lines on the road, mile after mile after mile after mile.
"And light," I have a hard time making sense of this one, but having driven long distances at night, I can imagine seeing the oncoming visuals made of one dim-then-bright-then-gone light after another.
So it's not that I'm clueless, but the clues I have point in different directions.
@solvecoagule It's "Light." I like Ryan's vocals too. I hoped Margo would do vocals as this represents more than its 20th anniversary. I've been a fan since I saw them on PBS I believe it was Austin City Limits. Their music has mapped the passage of time in my life & many of their songs are connected to my memories. Experiencing their musical growth with each release in its reflection of that has been indescribably great. Their music grabbed hold of my heart from day one and still does.

The more I listen to this version by Ryan Adams, the more I like it....it's different from Margo's, but it sounds very good. Both versions are great.

Can anyone offer a definitive take on what that line is --
"I've got 200 more miles of rain, asphalt [???]/Before I sleep"
In line?
And lines?
And light?
None of those seems quite right to me. "Light" at least rhymes with "night," but the rhyming isn't necessarily that precise.
solvecoagule 3 years ago
I think it's " Ashphalt and Lime ".
hystericol 3 years ago
@hystericol it's "Asphalt in line" ;)
ajdanovs 1 year ago
@solvecoagule I believe it is lights. Picture driving 200 miles on an asphalt road in the rain. Headlights kill your eyes; and it rhymes with night.

I think Mongomery is a recent blur, rather than birth. Marathon driving from one dumpy club to the next, y'know?
