hey man, great playn. classical guitar is all about the sharp/flowing intonation and even imitation of many other instruments, as im sure you're aware.
try playing with a bit more vibrato to get that authentic sound. hey, in classical guitar there can never be too much vibrato :)
it is like a meditation, like when you let your thoughs go and you play what your thouhts make you feel and the playing sounds like a true expression because you have achieved an atmosphere
Sorry, didnt mean to sound like a 'self appointed expert' LOL
But, I have a question: I wanted to buy the Multiac by Godin and I cant find a fretless in any of the stores, so is there like a big learning curve when it comes to getting used to playing it? And does it sound different when playing it as a guitar, i.e without using the VG88?
Well, I just started playing fretless this year and I can say there is a bit of a curve when it comes to intonation. Also, speed is diminished by the lack of frets. It is probably just as easy to play speedily on a fretless, but it's a very different sensation because there is nothing to hold on to except the neck. You never really appreciate how much frets do in a conventional guitar until you try to play without them. My advice is to get a cheap guitar and unfret it yourself to see if 4 you.
This is really an impressive use of the Fretless Godin & VG-88 combo. Great authentic sound, maybe even enough to convince me to look for a VG-88. Although I don't think my phrasing will ever be that smooth.
I LOVE your phrasing. I should really get more into this stuff as I also play fretless guitar. What's a good starting point? Any specific music to transcribe?
nice one !!

Very nice. But I think this is the GR20, not the VG88

LOL- I love self-appointed experts.
As the performer of this piece, and owner of the VG-88 and Godin, I can safely say this is indeed the VG-88.
I'd love to have a GR20 as well, but they're hard to find for sale.

Very nice, I love this raag, especially ni re ma ga
Well done! Whom did you study the raag from?
hemantsharma 4 years ago
From my teacher, the sitarist Uwe Neumann. It's just Raag Yaman, which a lot of beginners begin with. I can't say I play it well yet.

Thanks.
Yeah, my technique is totally derived from sarod technique. If the fingerboard were metal (as on some fretless guitars), it would sound even more so.
