Samo obrana se može definirati kao oružani otpor stranim okupatora. Međutim, krajinski Srbi nisu stranih okupatora, a proglasilo neovisnost od Republika Hrvatska u 1992. Može se reći da je Gotovina snage launchef napad (oluja) i tako su krajinski Srbi bili u samoobrani.
