Can you imagine that stupid news babe complaining about the money they might make...ask anybody who went if it wasn't worth ten times the admission price...None of them needed the money - they loved performing- they loved the audience... and they loved the applause... but the money? She must be a total idiot.
I was so lucky to be blessed with 4 generations of music lovers and a friend of the family who loved country. I would sing Folsom Prison Blues to the neighborhood on the top of my slide. My family was so proud. Not! LOL
at ten dollars a pop??? dang.. today it would be 35-50 a pop..lol,, and dang if you could have gotten all three signatures on there.. wow.. now that would be worth some money!!!
Poor Dean, He didn't like those huge arena venues. He was more at ease at the smaller club settings. Plus he was brokenhearted from the death of his son Dean Paul just a few years before.
Saw the boys in Vancouver in 88, never forget that night. Notice how Frank pushes Deans mic hand up, Dean was losing interest in the tour and opted out a few shows later, Liza came onboared to finish the tour, I saw the three of them in Sydney in 89. Those were the days. Thanks for posting this fine memory.
Frank Sinatra's mob connections kept him in wholesale cigarets. While my Dad was paying 40¢ for a pack of Raleighs, Frank was getting them for 23¢: a savings of 17¢.
You will never ever get 3 guys with the talent and fame the these gentlemen had in their hey day on stage and be a team they way they were, first there is NO talent like these 3 and second they would be all for themselves, not the 3, you guys were the greatest!! RIP Frank Dean and Sammy!!!
How else could you describe talented guys like them, but Natural. Funny how these guys happened to be alive together on this planet at the same period. Their lives kind of slotted into place with no effort at all. I'm certain there are others out there, but not as famous !!
They was the first multiracial singing group my man, just iamgine the first group to have white and african american in one group,HOW GREAT WAS THAT!!!!
I don't know about the guy on "the 2nd night in SF" saying it cost $500, but I was there for the 1st night in Oakland, and it was $50, which then, I thought, was outrageous, but I wanted to be able to say I saw them all together, this might be the last time, and I was right. I was up in the rafters and there were huge TV screens. Dean got the worst reviews of his life, tempered with the excuse he might be ill. Sammy worked the hardest, and Frank did the best with what he had left.
WHAT DO YOU EXPECT FROM A 70 YEARS OLD MENS ,I WOULD LIKE TO HAVE THE SAME ENERGY THEY HAVE WHEN I GET TO THEIR AGE , IF I MAKE IT I BELIEVE THAT WAS GREAT
This ws the tour when Dean said: "Frank, what the hell are we doing here"? And he was right, there comes a time to call it a day, or night, as the case may be!
Actually, Sinatra created the show because Dean had just lost his son to a flying accident. Dean was distraught so Frank did it to get his mind off of it. However, Dean's heart wasn't into it, so he left. Not wanting to disappoint the fans, they recast the show and asked Liza to join them. It's sad really about Dean. When he lost his son, a large part of him died too.
@biden1 I disagree with you there. Frank and Sammy were definitely up for it. Otherwise they wouldn't have "relaunched" the tour, taking in Liza Minnelli for what would be the "Ultimate Event" world tour.
@JohanVNilsson i shoulda been more clear, Sammy and Frank could still preform but what i meant by not being up for it was the lifestyle- Frank wanted to recreate 1960 including the staying up late and pranks, etc. so i meant to say they werent 30/40 anymore no matter how much Frank wanted them to be it just wasnt the same, another reason why Dean left. They could still do it just not like the old days..I shoulda put that none of them were what they used to be,escepcially Dean (unfortunately)
@louieboto lol never understood how one becomes an obsessed fan - they are entertaining but I don't sit around tossing off to a poster of Dean Martin thinking he is God - how does one get to your stage? Low self-esteem? No father in your life? I've never though any celebrity was better than myself; Hollywood has done a great job of brain washing many people like yourself who are so obsessed, they would probably throw their own mother down some stairs just to me meet one. very very sad
@varsume haha what a weirdo you are! what makes u think I'm obsessed with Dean Martin? and dean martin is better than both you and me at singing so u saying that no celebrity is better than you is just plain stupid haha. varsume your a joke.
@louieboto defending and saying you love someone you don't know is obsessive behaviour - the internet brings out all kinds of crackpots like yourself - just because some one can sing better than some one else that makes them a better person? That made no sense Einstein. Your undermining your own credibility. You also stated you love Dean - how can you love someone you don't know? You might love his singing, but to say you "love" him doesn't sound very healthy - just being honest
@varsume obvyour some shit canadian who goes round analysing what people post on youtube haha i see shit loads of people writing roughly the same shit your writing now everyday! people who think that they have everything sussed and that theyre some sort of youtube teacher haha but really your just an idiot. haha starting a fight on youtube is like being in the special olympics... even if you win your still a retard. and when i say i love dean martin.. i obv mean his voice. you fucking fool.
