The games are the ones that skewed away from what resident evil is. Its all about Umbrella and the T-virus with the same lead actors, I think the movies have been a great extension of a great game. The new game RE6 comes back to Racoon city where it should be.
Every time they make a movie based on a game, they change the story and add new characters. Is just the way it is. The movies are very different from the games but, they're kinda good.

Why all the hate? Movies which are based on a game dont have to be an exact adaption of the game, that would be pointless. Just like Silent Hill it is loosely based to the actual game. Sure they arent presenting game references too well (though in Afterlife with The executioner, Chris and the Adjules and Retribution with Leon and Ada) but for what they are these films are great. Then 2 was sorta passable, at the time I hadn't played RE3 either so I didn't know what all was butchered. Primarily Nemesis. Least the actress who protrayed Jill was rather well in 2. The Resi series (I mean the classic games), they hav to change everything to cater for what "they" think this mainstream youth want today. Instead of trying to stay true to the games. @Odakicity I wud hav luvd a very underrated director like John Carpenter to hav directed the Resident Evil films, or atleast the first 2. If uv ever heard of him and hav watched his films, like Assault on Precinct13, a very tense, claustrophobic film, which wud hav been better suited for the style and feel of Resi Evil1 wen they r in the mansion. Another Escape from New York wud hav been perfect to get the feel of Racoon City for the Resi2 movie. Hollywood know nothing only money.
@Odakicity Im a fan of Resident Evil series, I luv how complex the story is involving so many characters, and the whole history of it. I will say now, I appreciate the horror/survival aspect of the classic original games, thats going just before Resi4 more than anything. I dont mind change but I just dont like the direction the games hav gone now favoring mostly just "action" over anything else. I just wud hav liked a Resi movie more like how Silent Hill was done, like actually scary.
@RaikenXion I'm looking forward to the new game, supposedly Leon's part is all survival horror. But then there's the random Merc (could give you a spoiler as to who he's supposed to be) and Chris. Both of those are all-action, just like Resi 5. I miss the old games, Resi used to be so freaking difficult, and you were edgy playing it, waiting to get attacked round every corner. Now I know I'll get "Matalo" or "Aralano" before I get attacked, it's not scary at all any more

@RaikenXion Op Raccoon City looks pretty easy, definitely zombies are no challenge whatsoever, they just run around and melee attack them. The "what if" could be good I suppose, different take on the story. Just looked at a Revelations trailer, looks cool, I don't have a handheld myself but it looks like an ok game. I'm looking forward to Resi 6 at the end of the year, if Leon's story holds up to what they said it would. I want to have to run away now and again lol

I didnt mind resi4 once I got into it, and I liked the whole weapon cache system how u had to manage ur guns and ammo. They completely messed that up in Resi5, and NO decapitations at all on ur player in Resi5. Only thing I liked bout that game was the dlc, lost in Nightmares was abit more old-skool resi feel.
@RaikenXion Well not exactly, like I said, supposedly Leon's part is all survival horror. But yeah, Chris and the Merc will be action for sure. Lost in Nightmares is awesome, I really like that you can play it the same way as the old school resi camera angles. In case you didn't know, you go up to the door and click it like 3 times, until the camera changes. Much better :)
@Rodgerinho I think it wud b fair if they make EVERY Resi game allow u 2 options of playing before u start the game. You choose ur difficulty, then u can choose to play the game "classic horror/survival" or "Horror/Action." So that way it wud b fair for both groups cus theres still many of us out there who prefer the horror survival style of Resi like you said, suspense, and hardly having any ammo, needing to really manage ur weapons and stuff, I really miss all that too.
@RaikenXion That would be good, yeah, like have 2 separate choices, with their own difficulty levels, and either limit ammo or increase numbers of enemies. I really enjoy Resi 4 and 5 but I feel the same as you do, I just find myself missing that old fashioned survival horror theme. You shouldn't ever feel like a badass killing machine in a zombie game, you should just be happy to have survived and be waiting for your heart rate to drop again, before the next scary moment
@Odakicity Alice is the mary-sue(trope) character the director wrote in so his wife could play the role and hed get to see her in skimpy clothes kicking ass and thus all other characters and plot take a back seat to alice.

@Odakicity Yeah it's a shame, he's good in Prison Break as a deep, insightful guy, but he falls short in Resi as Chris. Although in fairness to him he barely gets a single line in the whole film, guess they're still too busy developing Alice's character to focus on the ACTUAL Resident Evil characters. Thing with Milla Jovovich, she's a great actor, and she does well with the part, I certainly wouldn't say she's anywhere near as crap as Keanu, but definitely the moves are way over the top
@Odakicity It'll never happen, but if they would just re-make the Resi films to actually follow the story, it could be an AWESOME set of films, the story from the games is rock solid. And with Jill, Chris, Leon, and Claire they have plenty of great characters without introducing some random unknown. Chris and Leon in Resi 4 and 5 are totally badass, they'd be better than Alice because they could be believable without using flying kicks and cloning

@jcoleston Retribution is supposed to feature Leon and Ada, I've seen production stills, Ada doesn't look bad from the game version, leon is about 6' 4". Leon's only supposed to be like 5'11.

I enjoyed the video, I did think that some of the mouth movements were a little off with the audio but that is okay, I definitely enjoyed all of the information that you gave in the video. I am a huge movie person. My ex-boyfriend loved the Resident Evil video games and I love the movies. If I would have been good at the games I could have gotten into to those but I am horrible at those type of games. I very much so enjoyed your video, keep up the good work.

RE1: A decent action movie. sadly the best on the series
RE2: Bad. The camera irritates me.
RE3: Least Favorite. Decent Action movie

Here's what's wrong with the resident evil movies.
First of all it took 3 movies to introduce Wesker.
It took four movies to Introduce Chris Redfield. (Not even the best choice actor. Jensen Ackles would have been way better.)
It took 5 movies to introduce Leon and Ada.

@Odakicity Alice is loosely based on the Ashford twins. I got more to add to wot exactly is wrong with these Resi Movies. They're just simply not Scary. No atmosphere at all, All bout action, I mean alice flying kicks a zombie dog in the first film!? The Nemesis looks good, but then that stupid puppy dog blue eye he displays, trying to show theres still a person inside him at the end!? Making Alice a Matrix style ott kick ass chick!? Then cloning her!? Its all purely for teen boys.

@Odakicity Yes well its all bout mainstream isnt it. Hollywood over stylize and even simplfy everything they get thier hands on. The Resi series (I mean the classic games), they hav to change everything to cater for what "they" think this mainstream youth want today. Instead of trying to stay true to the games. Im not saying these films hav2 be exactly the same as the games in-terms of look or story. But they're just aimed purely at horny, spotty teenage boys.

@Odakicity I wud hav luvd a very underrated director like John Carpenter to hav directed the Resident Evil films, or atleast the first 2. If uv ever heard of him and hav watched his films, like Assault on Precinct13, a very tense, claustrophobic film, which wud hav been better suited for the style and feel of Resi Evil1 wen they r in the mansion. Another Escape from New York wud hav been perfect to get the feel of Racoon City for the Resi2 movie. Hollywood know nothing only money.

@Odakicity Im a fan of Resident Evil series, I luv how complex the story is involving so many characters, and the whole history of it. I will say now, I appreciate the horror/survival aspect of the classic original games, thats going just before Resi4 more than anything. I dont mind change but I just dont like the direction the games hav gone now favoring mostly just "action" over anything else. I just wud hav liked a Resi movie more like how Silent Hill was done, like actually scary.

@RaikenXion I'm looking forward to the new game, supposedly Leon's part is all survival horror. But then there's the random Merc (could give you a spoiler as to who he's supposed to be) and Chris. Both of those are all-action, just like Resi 5. I miss the old games, Resi used to be so freaking difficult, and you were edgy playing it, waiting to get attacked round every corner. Now I know I'll get "Matalo" or "Aralano" before I get attacked, it's not scary at all any more

I can understand if the devs want to make Resi more modern now, cus the generation only appreciate action anyway.

@RaikenXion Op Raccoon City looks pretty easy, definitely zombies are no challenge whatsoever, they just run around and melee attack them. The "what if" could be good I suppose, different take on the story. Just looked at a Revelations trailer, looks cool, I don't have a handheld myself but it looks like an ok game. I'm looking forward to Resi 6 at the end of the year, if Leon's story holds up to what they said it would. I want to have to run away now and again lol

I didnt mind resi4 once I got into it, and I liked the whole weapon cache system how u had to manage ur guns and ammo. They completely messed that up in Resi5, and NO decapitations at all on ur player in Resi5. Only thing I liked bout that game was the dlc, lost in Nightmares was abit more old-skool resi feel.

@RaikenXion Well not exactly, like I said, supposedly Leon's part is all survival horror. But yeah, Chris and the Merc will be action for sure. Lost in Nightmares is awesome, I really like that you can play it the same way as the old school resi camera angles. In case you didn't know, you go up to the door and click it like 3 times, until the camera changes. Much better :)

@Rodgerinho I think it wud b fair if they make EVERY Resi game allow u 2 options of playing before u start the game. You choose ur difficulty, then u can choose to play the game "classic horror/survival" or "Horror/Action." So that way it wud b fair for both groups cus theres still many of us out there who prefer the horror survival style of Resi like you said, suspense, and hardly having any ammo, needing to really manage ur weapons and stuff, I really miss all that too.

@RaikenXion That would be good, yeah, like have 2 separate choices, with their own difficulty levels, and either limit ammo or increase numbers of enemies. I really enjoy Resi 4 and 5 but I feel the same as you do, I just find myself missing that old fashioned survival horror theme. You shouldn't ever feel like a badass killing machine in a zombie game, you should just be happy to have survived and be waiting for your heart rate to drop again, before the next scary moment

I think Alice is just supposed to be Jill with super powers, and there's hardly any build up here towards some well-thought out climax. They don't even seem to know what they're doing, cloning Alice, and now they're bringing back some random Umbrella grunts from the 1st&2nd films? (Rain and One and Carlos). Don't worry too much about Zombies, humans don't have a cannibalistic nature to us, in fairness zombies would just be walking coma patients, they'd be harmless. Even things like the eye and the ear are ridiculously complicated and a dead person would be blind and deaf for sure. If it was just a virus that induced psychosis that's different, drugs already do that, so it's fairly possible

@Odakicity Yeah it's a shame, he's good in Prison Break as a deep, insightful guy, but he falls short in Resi as Chris. Although in fairness to him he barely gets a single line in the whole film, guess they're still too busy developing Alice's character to focus on the ACTUAL Resident Evil characters. Thing with Milla Jovovich, she's a great actor, and she does well with the part, I certainly wouldn't say she's anywhere near as crap as Keanu, but definitely the moves are way over the top

@Odakicity It'll never happen, but if they would just re-make the Resi films to actually follow the story, it could be an AWESOME set of films, the story from the games is rock solid. And with Jill, Chris, Leon, and Claire they have plenty of great characters without introducing some random unknown. Chris and Leon in Resi 4 and 5 are totally badass, they'd be better than Alice because they could be believable without using flying kicks and cloning

I enjoyed the video, I did think that some of the mouth movements were a little off with the audio but that is okay, I definitely enjoyed all of the information that you gave in the video. I am a huge movie person. My ex-boyfriend loved the Resident Evil video games and I love the movies. @marcus24000 That would suck too, the thing is that Resident Evil movies should be HORROR MOVIES, not action movies with a Mary Sue protagonist ._. e.g. Resident Evil 2 in a speed run can be easily made in 1 or 2 hours, the movies can be done well... Like Degeneration! which follows the canon and it's pretty good compared to the live action franquise imho.
