I think this clip actually represent how Swedes are as a people in general: Everybody keeping to themselves cooped up in their ikea homes, all looking the same way, all looking at the same TV show, which btw they are never gonna win. And yes, this is a very generalizing and stereotypical view and I know this, so don't lecture me :-P
Okay I can agree on everything except the part that we're never going to win, that's just rude. I'm gonna prove that to you cause we're going to win this year ;)
hehe - not jealousy. I think it's more a reaction to the fact that Sweden has set off an entire month for this show, whereas both Denmark and Norway just have one final and bam, there's your song. To me, Swedens way seems like overkill. I know most of it is media hype, but seriously, people get too upset when they don't win or get a bad placement in the final show. I am sure you can tell I know stuff about Eurovision because I really do like the contest.
If you really like the contest, you should know that Melodifestivalen is the most watched TV show in Sweden year after year (well, it also depends on Sweden being on a major sport event or not).
But what I'm really trying to say it's that Swedes don't care about the final result in Eurovision. Melodifestivalen is used by some national artists to show their new works and promote themselves. Eurovision is something secondary (important too, but not the most relevant thing in it).
I know all this and that is why I find it to be very amusing. But I don't know about the new artist part because it seems to me that the same artists are in the game several times. In my opinion, an opinion in which one should try to win, I don't find that they truly send off Swedens best songs. There are many good and talented artist but they are never in this thing. Maybe we should continue this convo in private. I enjoy the discussion.
The same artists used to be in Melodifestivalen year after year, but now the door has been opened to new artists and, which is even much more important, to new kinds of music (techno, rock, RnB, country and so on)
Well you can't understand this unless you've been here between February and May...
I don't know much about Australian humor, but British humor is sick... it's like watching paint dry... (and I know Australia and UK are not even close, I'm not stupid... just saying cause I only know about Swedish, British and American humor... this is so not making any sense... haha sorry!)
hmm

Why poor? I don't expect the Danes to win anything.

Reading your comments it gives the impression that there's some sort of jealousy going down your veins...

@Reykja19
I think that the schlager and swedishpop genres are what still remains in MF.

@Reykja19
Maybe because of the poor results in the past few years

@Reykja19
Do you still not care about the result after the Swedes didn't qualify in Oslo
