In addition to what you said in your description, your recording is pretty good considering you don't have all the instrumental backups that Steve Perry or the Glee cast had. I'd think this song would be very difficult to pull off as a multitrack. The a cappella introduction on Glee is excellent, but it doesn't last very long before the instrumental tracks kick in.
