Switching to pellets is not a bad choice at all, lovebirds on a seed-only food supply usually get problems with their beak or liver on a later age... So far as I can see your bird seems to enjoy it while you film. The sound he/she makes with the beak is what they do when they feel happy/satisfied.
that's a hybrid bird, imho i guess it's a mixture of an roseicollis x fischer = hybrids... it's cool to have one but it's difficult to breed because of their genes abnormalities.. peace! ciao.. xD
my boyfriend father picked him up for 20$, but after 4 years with birdie we dont have time to give him the attention he deserves in the case you want one but dont have time get two but they wont be people friendly much aparently, i cant bring him him because my boyfriends mom doesnt want him up so hes downstairs screaming all day, I see birds on kijiji all the time check there in your local area , but be warned they are kinda like babies that need attention all the time
@danielajimenez95 it's not rare, you can have one by breeding a different species from another.. example just like what ive said awhile ago roseicollis x fischer or fischer x personata etc.... but it's not advisable because of its difficulties to breed. but if it's for pets purpose only why not go get one.. and yes, i think they are much cheaper than the normal species...
aww how cute <3, can i ask u a question, how much do they poop??? im just asking, poor lil boy, maybe u should get him a nest box or a tent :) he should sleep in that :)

1. He's delightful, I hope he's well. I hope the job hunting is also good.
I love the way he's telling you that he's tired and wants to go to sleep, they're such intelligent little birds. Have you tried several clean different size branches for perching on? Even down to 6-8mm. He'll pick the size he likes. He'll also chew them so you'll need to replace often. Just ensure it isn't poisonous to him. Continued...
There's web sites about Love Birds that give dimensions for boxes. Until you can make/buy a home for him cover his cage for sleeping and make sure he's in a quiet area. He'll probably want about 12hrs sleep a day.
He'll love to eat food other than seeds until you manage to get him converted to pellets. He'll eat fresh carrots, apple, corn, broccoli, grapes etc and dandelions, thistles, endive and seeded grasses (wash well). Also spouted seeds. Fresh water daily is a must. Good luck.
These guys love to have a 'home' to go to, perhaps try a small home/nest box attached to the side of the cage - even if it means bending or safely cutting some of the bars to get an access point for entry. (remember to cover the ends of the bars that have been cut and make sure there's no escape route out ). Continued...
yea? the thing i dislike but i take it as normal is that the poor thing falls down in its sleep, and i always have to pick him up ti'll he calms down and then stays on me
If you cannot afford to take care of it then why not rehome him?

@jacee8888 it is not difficult to breed one of this... it's impossible because they are not fertile.
Crossbreeding is really a shame and should not be done.
My thumbs up for people rescuing and caring for hybrids but never pay money to those horrible breeders...

Aw,so sweet. My lovebird does the same thing. I've read that they make that sound when they are comfortable and relaxed.
Sometimes she "talks" softly too. As if she was reading herself a bedtime story, haha.
Your bird is a beauty for sure!
