I'm a 'classic liberal' as opposed to the more modern liberals I was referring to and bashing. I'm not a republican, except that I still believe in small government which republicans usually just use as a line to get elected to promote their shitty moral conservatism and traditionalism as opposed to fiscal conservatism.
@SuperCrescentFresh I'm a fucking minarchist LIBERTARIAN. Fuckin' John Locke is on my list of inspirations on Facebook for goodness sakes. I'm as ANTI-AUTHORITARIAN as you can get next to forms of anarchy. I was using the term to speak of a group of people who like EXPENSIVE, RETARDED, and MICROMANAGEMENT in their policies. Some things that ree 'liberating' have long term consequences and are much less liberating than we think. I do not parrot Fox News, Judge Napolitano is the only 1 I like.
You may really dislike the opinions of people with different politics than you, you may have no sympathy for their point of view at all. But please people, differences are not a reason to hate and demonize. Everybody is sickened by the recent violence. It's up to us to help it not happen again by being better than we have been. Slamming others is just aggression, it solves nothing. If we can't agree, maybe at least we can discuss calmly and without anger, and arrive at just solutions.

@loonmaniac Actually, it was about money. American colonies had started using their own interest-free money to conduct business instead of borrowing at interest from the Bank of England. England needed the cash to fund its empire. (sound familiar?). But, the Bank of England got its revenge when they suckered us into passing The Federal Reserve Act. Anyway, google "Colonial Scrip" and learn what the history books don't tell you.
@loonmaniac And that's why they prospered so much. We now pay interest on fiat currency created out of thin air. The government could just create the money instead of borrowing it at interest from banks. In 2009 we spent $450 billion just to pay the interest on our debt. Our money=monopoly money. Why pay interest on it?
@loonmaniac Gold was $400/oz. in 1996; now it is $1,100/oz. I'll take gold over the dollar any day. Has the purchasing power of your dollar gained or lost value since the creation of the Federal Reserve? Your government steals the value of your money everyday. Gold retains its value because there is a finite amount. There is no limit to the amount of fiat currency, which is why it will always end up being worthless.
Gold only has value if money does. It's not good for anything else. You can't eat it or make weapons with it. Without cash value it's worthless. No money = gold is just pretty metal for eering and false teeth.
First, it was a series of regulations which spawned the american revolution, such as the stamp act, the money monopoly, taxes and trade. Even if you focus merely on the tea it was a tax on the tea that was the problem.
Gold IS money, because it is a medium of exchange. That is what money is. Your confusing paper currency with money, they are not the same. The currency can lose all its value and gold will still have its, that is actually what is happening
@Visfen No it wasn't the tax on the tea, dickface. The British repealed the tea tax and undercut competitors by cutting the price of tea in half. THAT'S what pissed people off, they couldn't win for losing, the Brits had all the cards.
Gold only has value if money has value. If a fucking meteor hit or something, and knocked out banks and banking worldwide, gold would be worthless. You can't eat it and you can't make weapons from it.
Uh, yes it was, that is how it started. They refused to pay the taxes so the Brittish started waging a trade war and increased regulations. Then after a while it got to the point where they were fed up. Like some are now.
No it wouldn't, in such a scenario gold would be extremely valuable. You don't have a concept of what money is.
Gold maintains value because it has the right properties of medium of exchange, it is scarce, impossible to reproduce and it is easy to recognize.
Yes, I have a fairly good idea. I work in finance, what do you do? Wellfare I assume?
Post money? We will never be post money. You can only be pre money. Money comes from bartering!
You're a complete tool, if you don't know the difference between currency and money then it's useless even trying to talk to you, and when you think an argument is saying that I watch Glenn Beck you're at the point where you're just a partisan drone. Go fuck yourself.
@Visfen Sure we will. You think humans are going to be around forever? You are naiive. Every civilization has a rise and fall, we just haven't fallen again since the 6th century.
@loonmaniac I think humans like me will, humans like you will go extinct.
But yeah, great argument there, you believe in Armageddon. You really made your point there...
Trade wasn't abolished because the Roman Empire fell. We have invtented trade and it will be around as long as we are now. It's a pretty neat invention, not having to force other to give you things.
@Visfen You'll sit there and eat your gold, right? The good thing is professions like yours are useless during any kind of social upheaval and breakdown of societal order.
It's a medium of exchange, it value comes from goods being bartered.
My profession will be around as long as people barter, and I would say that there is definetly a need for us engineers (which is my education) in a social upheaval.
But in all seriousness, why the fuck are you talking about Armageddon? Stop humping your bible and get in the game.
And that would go for paper money, look at Germany after the 1st world war, and that goes for the roman empire, modern day africa and so and so forth. Most notably is russia.
@maxine2win You do understand that fiat currency is create out thin air, right? Why on earth would we pay interest on this money? Do you enjoy being the slave of banks?
@maxine2win That's ridiculous. No, you don't need central control over the supply of money. The US actually did the best during the later part of the 19th century, when there were no central bank system. Please stop being a shill for the banking elite.
Fiat money is not real money. If I write some numbers on a piece of paper, would you agree to use that as a medium of exchange? Of course not. The fiat system can only be put in place when real money actually exists, like a gold standard.
There are still people who think Al Gore won the 2000 election too. They questioned the legitimacy of Bush's presidency. Not as ridiculously as saying President Obama wasn't born in our country, but still pretty damn silly.
President Obama is American, and I disagree philosophically with his policies. That means I'm a racist, right?
No one was seriously indicted... The 9/11 commission didn't even have subpoena power
An Gore just maybe would've had he wise idea of reading the national security memos... 'cause you know those are important. Gore doesn't have a ranch in Crawford either. So the odds of it being avoided or at least intercepted would've increased.
You did brought up 9/11 and I wanted to correct you. No need to bring it non-sequiturs in your desperate attempt to hide the fact I'm gaining in the argument.
Now then. I said increased the chance, I cannot make an assumption based on hypotheticals. However had gore been in office and received a similar memo the bush administration did and 9/11 took place I would call for his arrest as well.
@fret2424 I think Obama's sort of correct. I mean honestly, the Tea Party protesting the bailout back is pretty damn legitimate. However, there's so much cultural baggage that the Tea Party folks have... that it's impossible to look at them as people who "want to focus on the issues". :)
"The White Supremacist group StormFront is encouraging its members to join the tea party"
"Since President Obama was elected as President, white supremacy groups claim their membership numbers have jumped. The movement has gained traction with the 'tea party movement".
I never said disagreeing with Omaba is racist.
And no one's been more critical of the administration then me.
@fret2424 Your ass u mation is quite wrong if not a straight out lie! Have you any proof or are you just sitting there in your moms house looking for attention on the net?
@BeantownJim My mom passed away in 06, so I will politely ask you to fuck off.
This is a comment board, meant for opinions, proof not required, but you are welcome to refute my opinion.
There have been many confirmed associations between white supremacy groups and tea party organizers (some tea party protest were actually organized by leaders of these very groups)...Do your own homework!
"You lie" is a weak argument, if it could be considered an actual argument!
•"At the first tea bagger convention this weekend in Nashville Tom Tancredo noted white supremacist and former Congressional architect of scads of anti-immigrant legislature opened with a speech...".
•"Billy Roper, who heads the white supremacist White Revolution group, based in Arkansas, is listed as an organizer on a Tea Party movement Web site".
@BeantownJim Well that was part of it. You live in Boston and don't know this? You must be the dumbest fuck around. It was about the final straw of the Crown repealing the tea tax and halving the price of tea to undercut colonial tea vendors.
@nerdycub By usig the term "We" you indicate that you are a Tea Bagger?
I also support policy (not politicians) to eliminate illegal immigration and secure our nation's borders. However, you will never find me at a tea party protest.
@nerdycub Na, the first "N" word, "Wet back", "Sand N*gger", or other BS slur, and I'll just end up getting arrested for assault and battery. Then a cell phone video of me will end up here, and who needs that.
@fret2424 :Wondering what your point is. There are dumbfucks in any group. Are you trying to discredit an entire group of concerned patriotic Americans or are you pandering for little green thumbs from liberal antagonist ignoramuses? Seriously, I dont understand where you're going with your post.
@fret2424 I'm curious about something. From what website did you copy this information about Roper and Tancredo? I'm unfamiliar with Roper, but I've never seen any legit news story of Tancrede being a racist.
@fret2424 dumbass u mention 2 people out of millions and what is your stupid point. Obama and the dems have rev wright, the black panther party leaders bill ayers a terrorist , communist jones and the lists goes on and on. So when u live in a glass house becarful what you say about a large group. It can come back and bite your ass. Refute this!
@mr22jake22 I agree, I see comments like that with all the thumbs up, and I can't help but to think, "WTF!?" Especially saying thing like 'tea bagger' event.. Basically shows you how the left has roped in to make these leftist liberals think citizens are the problem instead of the government. Obama is absolutely right about 1 thing in this video, the tea party is made up of diverse groups, with different ideals, etc. When I GO, I represent the Ron Paul Libertarian don't tread on me group :)

ritaisland 1 year ago
No you idiot, they were protesting the British monopoly on imports, you dumb bastard. Pick up a fucking book, you might learn something.
loonmaniac 1 year ago 3
@loonmaniac Actually, it was about money. American colonies had started using their own interest-free money to conduct business instead of borrowing at interest from the Bank of England. England needed the cash to fund its empire. (sound familiar?). But, the Bank of England got its revenge when they suckered us into passing The Federal Reserve Act. Anyway, google "Colonial Scrip" and learn what the history books don't tell you.
LawyerScumGhost 1 year ago
Colonists were not allowed to possess hard currency.
loonmaniac 1 year ago
@loonmaniac And that's why they prospered so much. We now pay interest on fiat currency created out of thin air. The government could just create the money instead of borrowing it at interest from banks. In 2009 we spent $450 billion just to pay the interest on our debt. Our money=monopoly money. Why pay interest on it?
LawyerScumGhost 1 year ago
Yeah, let's pay for everything with winks and nods.
Ever think of buying gold? Don't. If money is worthless, gold is also worthless.
loonmaniac 1 year ago
@loonmaniac Gold was $400/oz. in 1996; now it is $1,100/oz. I'll take gold over the dollar any day. Has the purchasing power of your dollar gained or lost value since the creation of the Federal Reserve? Your government steals the value of your money everyday. Gold retains its value because there is a finite amount. There is no limit to the amount of fiat currency, which is why it will always end up being worthless.
LawyerScumGhost 1 year ago
Gold only has value if money does. It's not good for anything else. You can't eat it or make weapons with it. Without cash value it's worthless. No money = gold is just pretty metal for eering and false teeth.
loonmaniac 1 year ago
@loonmaniac, your name suits you.
Visfen 1 year ago
@Visfen No it wasn't the tax on the tea, dickface. The British repealed the tea tax and undercut competitors by cutting the price of tea in half. THAT'S what pissed people off, they couldn't win for losing, the Brits had all the cards.
Gold only has value if money has value. If a fucking meteor hit or something, and knocked out banks and banking worldwide, gold would be worthless. You can't eat it and you can't make weapons from it.
loonmaniac 1 year ago
@loonmaniac
Visfen 1 year ago
@Visfen Do you know what a trade war is? Stop getting all your info from Glenn Beck; he's a moron.
In a post money society, gold is worthless. Bartering food and weapons will get you much further.
loonmaniac 1 year ago
@loonmaniac
Visfen 1 year ago
@Visfen Sure we will. You think humans are going to be around forever? You are naiive. Every civilization has a rise and fall, we just haven't fallen again since the 6th century.
loonmaniac 1 year ago
@loonmaniac I think humans like me will, humans like you will go extinct.
But yeah, great argument there, you believe in Armageddon. You really made your point there...
Trade wasn't abolished because the Roman Empire fell. We have invtented trade and it will be around as long as we are now. It's a pretty neat invention, not having to force other to give you things.
Visfen 1 year ago
@Visfen You'll sit there and eat your gold, right? The good thing is professions like yours are useless during any kind of social upheaval and breakdown of societal order.
loonmaniac 1 year ago
@loonmaniac Can you eat your money?
It's a medium of exchange, it value comes from goods being bartered.
My profession will be around as long as people barter, and I would say that there is definetly a need for us engineers (which is my education) in a social upheaval.
But in all seriousness, why the fuck are you talking about Armageddon? Stop humping your bible and get in the game.

And gold was over $850 in 1980 - a 30% rise in 30 years - not a very good investment that, 1% non compounding.
Oh hang on, I'm doing what you are doing, cherry picking years to suit my argument.
You final statement is also nonsense - if the amount of real money (which you call fiat) is limited then it won't become worthless.
And gold does not have any 'natural' value.
If people decided they didn't want gold it would become worthless

@maxine2win That's ridiculous. No, you don't need central control over the supply of money. The US actually did the best during the later part of the 19th century, when there were no central bank system. Please stop being a shill for the banking elite.
Fiat money is not real money. If I write some numbers on a piece of paper, would you agree to use that as a medium of exchange? Of course not. The fiat system can only be put in place when real money actually exists, like a gold standard.

We would still be working on indictments.
poisonapple16 1 year ago
@poisonapple16
PersonalJesus348 1 year ago
@PersonalJesus348 Really ??!??? You mean the ones that Clinton ignored right?
Or all the other terrorist attacks Clinton ignored? ( USS Cole, Embassy bombings, first trade center bombing)
Or the fact the Syrians want to GIVE US OSAMA but Clinton wouldn't take him?
Presidents get wads of national security memos, knowing which ones aren't bullshit is the hard part.
But I'm sure Gore would have invaded Afghanistan; honest.
poisonapple16 1 year ago
@poisonapple16
But it was Bush not Gore who ignored those memos.
PersonalJesus348 1 year ago
@PersonalJesus348 You are arguing with yourself.
This whole converstation is built on hypotheicals.
Had Gore been in office the slavish left wing media would not have even brought it up.
But, you did not deny that the prevous administration IGNORED this problem in an incredible way.
Bush made many mistakes this was not one of them.
poisonapple16 1 year ago
@poisonapple16
No it is not. I said Gore had the most votes. a Supreme Court decision gave Bush the presidency.
PersonalJesus348 1 year ago
@PersonalJesus348 Um no, that is possibly one of my favourite left wing delusions.
In order for the ruse to work, (you know re-counting votes until you get the result you want) you need a compliant governor and attorney general.
The governor was his brother, the attorney general was a hard core conservative.
If I recall the supreme court overturned an unconstitutional decision by the stat court.....
poisonapple16 1 year ago
