I can tell the animators didn't really have any idea how a piano worked =P Ivo Caprino made sure his animated pianists hit all the notes exactly when they were supposed to.
@Jonmad17 It was the same year. Both MGM and Warner Bros accused each other of plagiarism, after both films were shown during the 1947 Academy Awards ceremony. Technicolor was accused of sending a print of either cartoon to the competing studio, who then allegedly plagiarized their rival's work.
please don't forget these cartoons were not made for children... they were played for adults between and before movies at the theatre... please, remember your film history folks.
First chunk I BELIEVE is Ken Champin - does anybody know how to tell Ken Champin apart from Gerry Chiniquy? Please?
The second half (the knot-tying gag till end) is Virgil Ross. I'd believe that the dance forward and back was Gerry's work; if it didn't sync so perfectly with a scene Duffel describes as Ross. (Unlike Clampett; I don't think Friz would switch animators midscene.)
@chronaden imagine a time when cartoons were drawn, details were common and serendipity was the norm. When texture was present and characters were on roll-call.
'tis a blessing that I can, 'tis a pity that the people growing up now cannot;
'tis an outright tragedy that some cannot and do not appreciate it.
@chronaden Romantic period, not Classical. But I do agree, I enjoyed the good old cartoons that incorporated these masterpieces into childrens' lives. :)
@UsagitheBassoonist Referring to the Baroque, Classical and Romantic era as classical music is accepted amongst musicians of all standards. Generally used when being less specific, as in this case where, yes, this is from the Romantic era but it introduces people to a wide variety of classical music.
@chronaden I was blessed to have such a childhood. It makes me sad that kids today don't get it in schools, at home or even from cartoons anymore. I guess its just up to film composers and commercial jingle writers these days to make the great classical works accessible...:-/
@chronaden At the time really those cartoons were showed in cinemas for adults as funny short jokes, cartoons for children is a later invention. Anyway people had culture enough to appreciate where the joke is, and now... that's sad.
@juliess38 Il s'agit de la rhapsodie hongroise n°2 de Franz Liszt pour piano seul, mais il existe aussi une version pour orchestre. Voir aussi la version de Tom et Jerry, salutations !
@reebachan Because it makes for a gag at the beginning where he takes off about 9 other gloves. Also later on in the short, the gloves play by themselves for a second or two, if memory serves.
This work is breathtakingly brilliant. Tom and Jerry's cartoon is funnier and lasts longer. Ahhhhh to be a kid again? But I would not want to go back through all of the mistakes again and especially in these difficult times. C sharp minor with Hungarian Scales. Funny.
@redshark618 thought i was the only one that noticed that not only that but this is more of an exerpt no tempo or tone was correct im curious who recorded the piano sound and in what year lol and wtf how many languages does Bugs speak lol
@6Axter6 Yes, Franz is a Germanization of his name. How about this: Чайко́вский is spelled Tchaikovsky in English (fair enough), and Tschaikowski in German. Americans see Tschaikowski and think his name is "Chai-COW-ski."
@SamuraiMasenko Actually, my grandfather pronounces it Tchaikowski, and has been all his lifetime. I don't think it's because people are dumb, it's just the way how they are raised to say it. People cling on to that stuff.

Some people want young white females to mix with non-white males.
I made a one-minute video highlighting a very small sample of race-mixing advertisements.
I love white people, and I am opposed to race-mixing. But I do not hate non-whites.
If you click on my name “awhitesoul2012” highlighted in blue below this comment, you can watch my video.
