If Sly didn't like it, he really does have brain damage. Rather than sticking with THE SAME FORMULA, V takes an INTERESTING turn and focuses on corruption and deception. Also, it's very possible that the people who made "STAR WARS" III ('Revenge of the Sith') looked at this film.
I view 4 as terrible. J. Avildsen restored the essence with V.

Yes, this is sped up. By one frame, exactly. The standard for European and Middle Eastern film footage is 25 frames per second, whereas everywhere else it is 24 frames per second. One of the ways of converting the footage is just to speed it up by one frame...however, this raises the pitch of all the audio. Anytime you watch a YouTube video of an American movie that sounds slightly higher-pitched or sped up, that means it's coming from a European source.
My guess is that the reason this movie was received so poorly was just an issue of timing. It came too soon after the last Rocky movie, which itself came too soon. Pasta is a great meal, but even I'd get sick of it if it was served every other night....that's kinda how it was with the Rocky movies. They were often too close together.

But the story seemed lacking too, with Rocky ending up right back where he started with nothing to show for all his pain and efforts. There were some continuity problems too, like how his son goes from a near toddler to a near teenager. The fact that this movie was so clearly based off the story of Mike Tyson, who was starting to already be much maligned by then, didn't help either.

I love the whole Rocky series 1 to 6 for more than one million reasons. I've loved it ever since I was just a kid and just liked it cuz it was kinda macho and now when I'm a grown up, I can fully appreciate the story, the philosophy, the morale of the story and everything. It's so much more than just another boxing movie that normally people think but you gotta look at it through my eyes to see the real beauty of the whole series.

I respect 1. I thought 2 was better. I like 3. But I think Mr. T overdid it. 4 was just propaganda. I like how 5 dealt with deception.
I feel Sly lost the essence in 3 and 4. And Mr. Avildsen brought it back in 5. I like how 5 was a lot less predictable
I also like how we could feel sad as Tommy degenrated. (And with temptations that were difficult to ignore.)
GW Duke was SO bad. But he was also HILARIOUS. I found myself cheering for him. I felt bad for him when Rocky KOed him.

I love the whole Rocky series 1 to 6 for more than one million reasons. I've loved it ever since I was just a kid and just liked it cuz it was kinda macho and now when I'm a grown up, I can fully appreciate the story, the philosophy, the morale of the story and everything. It's so much more than just another boxing movie that normally people think but you gotta look at it through my eyes to see the real beauty of the whole series.

@TalDarkLeanMean I gotta ask, does that mean you hate Stallone too cause he says he doesn't like it either and that's why he made Rocky Balboa. It deviated from the successful Rocky formula, also, while I understand that Stallone had Rocky go broke cause many pro boxers really did go broke, it just kinda leaves me with a feeling of that he went through everything for nothing and ended up right where he was at the beginning of the series.

The beautiful thing about this particular clip is that ALL 5 Rockies were combined with this song. (Rocky VI didn't come out until 2006).

this is a movie that teachs you many things in life i mean the 6 teach you something: never to give up whenever something bad happens to you and rocky did suffer a lot he lost his trainer his title and in a time his true self. with help of apollo, he came back and give everything he had his strengh but what he always gave was his heart. he was a warrior of life he lost 2 trainers and his wife and afterall, he continued fighting because life teach us this to go on behalf a loss. thank you
