I have to deal with addicts in my profession and 99% are fundamentally selfish people who are bent on destroying them selves and taking everyone around them along for the ride. They refuse to take responsibility for their own actions- particularly when it comes to their substance abuse. Judy obviously falls into the 99% and I am absolutly disgusted with her after hearing this tape. She may be drunk, but there is a lot of truth coming out in her words- very self centered woman.

I suppose there is entertainment value in listening to a revered legendary talent who is obviously ill and falling apart in deep despair, but I personally don't see it. Perhaps someday, someone will have tapes of Stern's lowest points of his life and find humor in his misery, and if so, I hope it gets picked up for an additional 13 weeks. Having lost a close friend to alcoholism and another to addiction, not to mentions others I love who have struggled and survived, I am missing the fun here.
I dont know how I ended up here. I dont know much about this woman except that she was in The Wizard of Oz and is the mother of Lisa Minelli. Judy was very talented but, let's face it, the last ten years she was pretty much a mess. I'm torn between anger at Stern and his crew laughing at her, yet at the same time, I have to admit, hearing these tapes is morbidly fascinating.

We need to separate, somewhat, her personal life from her professional life--she never sang stoned. You can't be a 'mess' and show up to work--atleast as a singer. The tapes ARE fascinating--Judy is high, but she's still funny/witty--and Stern and his goons fail to see this.
Why would you think it's fun to joke about someone who's had a not-so-great life? Drugs are serious, so is alcoholism, it's not something to make fun of or mock. Show sympathy you low-life, nobodies.

I find it hard to believe that Stern has never had a dark moment in his life where he spent the entire night staring at the ceiling, thinking about nothing, everything, having a drink just to quiet his mind. Hell, I'm 19 years old and I've already had a host of nights just like that----I'd never laugh at Judy for this. Maybe one has to 'be there' before one understands. I hope for Mr. Stern that he'll never 'be there' because it's a sad, confusing, lonely place. Doubt he's strong enough for it.

Judy had a great sense of humor. When she recorded these tapes which was the lowest point in her life, she was still cracking jokes "this obvious, NAZI machine..." I didn't personally know her, but her life is pretty much an open book. She was forced to get an abortion by MGM studios, was fed pills to keep her thin at the age of 13. Sad, not funny.

I dont know how I ended up here. I dont know much about this woman except that she was in The Wizard of Oz and is the mother of Lisa Minelli. But I now gather that she had addiction problems and probably died of drink or drugs. But I am pushed to comment just by hearing these stupid effing idiots commentating and even laughing at a recording of a very lonely woman under the influence and obviously in tremendous trouble and despair. Or have I got it completely wrong?

We need to separate, somewhat, her personal life from her professional life--she never sang stoned. You can't be a 'mess' and show up to work--atleast as a singer. The tapes ARE fascinating--Judy is high, but she's still funny/witty--and Stern and his goons fail to see this.

I find it hard to believe that Stern has never had a dark moment in his life where he spent the entire night staring at the ceiling, thinking about nothing, everything, having a drink just to quiet his mind. Hell, I'm 19 years old and I've already had a host of nights just like that----I'd never laugh at Judy for this. Maybe one has to 'be there' before one understands. I hope for Mr. Stern that he'll never 'be there' because it's a sad, confusing, lonely place. Doubt he's strong enough for it.

Judy had a great sense of humor. When she recorded these tapes which was the lowest point in her life, she was still cracking jokes "this obvious, NAZI machine..." "when my number is up, i want a new one!" Even the radio hosts laugh at her jokes. I'm sure that Howard and his co-hosts were unaware of Judy's life. I didn't personally know her, but her life is pretty much an open book. She was forced to get an abortion by MGM studios, was fed pills to keep her thin at the age of 13. Sad, not funny.
