  • Picked up a 3rd gen 36 recently, turns out to be one of the most accurate out of the box .45's I've ever owned. I find recoil minimal compared to say a Colt Commander and yes, I will carry this gun sometimes but don't see it totally replacing my 27 for concealed EDC. Spot on with this review hickok45, right down to my pinky getting pinched. Watching you pop that gong at what, 85 yds, pushed me forward on the buy. So glad I own it, super cool .45 acp. despite the 6 rd capacity.

  • Hi Hickok, I was thinking of trading in my sp101 .357 for a glock 36, my main reasons for doing so would be for weight(26oz vs 20oz), thickness(with cylinder and holster vs semi-auto), when carried inside my jacket pocket, there's a noticeable bulge in addition to the one side of my jacket being weighed down, and since I already own a 1911 I would no longer have to buy two different types of ammo. I was wondering if you could share any insight on the 36, thnx.

  • freaky thumb 2:32

  • Hi Hickok, I have been contemplating the Kahr CW45 or the G36 and was wondering which model you would recommend? I am a glock fan but the CW45 is about 200 bucks less and is from what I've read about the same reliability and both are similar in style.

  • @beetlemaster07 Try them both no real way to tell if your going to like a gun until you put a some rounds down range. I'm sure you'll be happy with either choice. GL

  • I have carried the glock 22 and 23 but I am moving to the glock 36 because it is so much easier to conceal and it doesnt have as much recoil as i expected from a compact 45. Bought a concealment holster for it today. Ready to start carrying. Thanks for the great videos. Keep it up.

  • the glock 36 us 0.080 thousands thinner than the glock 26.. a little bit over 1/16 thinner

  • I took me awhile to get used to the grip on mine as-well. I'm glad I didn't go with the kahr P45. I looked one over and decided to go with the glock because it was bigger.

  • My g36 as had zero issues...I've ran about 2000 rounds thru it...no nothing...just goes bang every time...just hold on to it and its a amazing piece

  • @surfside006 Wow, really ignorant statement.

  • @2dc8w9qb about 80 yards

  • @2dc8w9qb 80 yards I think.

  • Reading over the comments, Lots of folks claim the G36 won't run, and I'm sure thats true of a few of them, but for the most part its limp wristing and/or weak ammo. The G36 has a pretty stuff spring and they like at least full power ammo I think...I shoot nothing but 230 grain +P in mine. Its gets 850 fps for velocity, recoil is stiff but that doesn't bother me. I used to carry a Baer 1911 (awesome pistol), but I gave it to my son when I got the G36, the G36 is (for me) the best carry pistol.

  • Hickok45...Thank You for the video, I've been waiting for this one...I have not watched it yet (I will), but Thank You.

  • are the extractors made different on the .45 glock than a 23? his glock 30's extractor looks weird

  • my friend got shot with a .45 and survived..

  • still to thick to compete wth iwb guns like cm9 or pf9..dnt like, good review though, love ur channel..

  • I was the one who asked for the comparison, I ended up buying the 36 over the 30 do I could carry iwb holster, I actually just fired it today for the first time love the gun, the recoil is noticeable tho, I'm gunna get a tungsten recoil system for it along with a new barrel and a pearce +1 mag extension, all in all awesome gun and great video subscribed to the channel for life

  • you should get a glock 40

  • I love my G36...I've had zero problems with mine...carry mine everyday...recoil not bad but takes getting use to...

  • I've used my Glock 29 Frame with the 36 slide on it for a while now and its ran great, you are right I like the lighter weight and the 10 round mag.Great shooting Friend

  • great info i think im gonna pass on the G36

  • @theARMORYchannel have u ever tried a kahr?

  • has hickok45 ever mentioned if he's upgraded the slide locks on any of his glocks?

  • Lately I've been looking into smallish frame/higher caliber handguns (like .44 Special revolvers and compact .45s) and this looks like a good option. Unlike you, I do like magazine extensions if they let me get a full three fingers on the gun, and my number one complaint about Glocks is that wide, brick-y frame. Seeing as how the Glock 36 avoids those issues and is in .45, it seems like the perfect choice. Can you think of any other models maybe a little bit smaller but still in .45 ACP?

  • Love my Glock 19,it's my EDC but did I have a lemon of a G36. I had multiple shooters use it, I used, tried different ammo and it continued to have multiple FTF's. About 8-10 every 50 rounds.

  • I've got a 36 and it won't feed 2 rounds in a row to save its life. I inherited it but the previous owner barely shot the damn thing. I love my Glock 20, 10mm but this 36 has pretty much ended my exploration into Glock's.

  • @HKmanlp1 Have it check out by a gunsmith! Do you put down a whole brand of cars because you had a lemon?! SHit happens, and if you were mechanically inclined you would know that shit fails at one point or another. Go to a gunsmith since you"re incompetent!

  • @albowrx

Well gee, since I have already sent it to Glock and it still is'nt working tells me to pass on this brand any further. But u must have already known that since you have such a superior intelligence level. Last I checked Glock inc should know how to fix their pistols. Incompetent= Assuming things when u don't have all the facts and looking like an idiot!

  • Another video at the Hickok Glockpound. :) Also, huge fan! I love how you have weight behind your words. It's easy to see that you speak from experience. Keep making videos and I'll keep watching them. P.S. my buddy said "Life's good"

  • My first flock was a 36

  • Green soda bottle wins an oscar for best dramatic performance by an inanimate object.

  • If you had to get a glock subcompact model in 45acp what would be better a glock 36 or 30?

  • What year did the glock 36 come out in.

  • Thanks to you, I just received my Talon Grips on my Glock 36 and made a new video of it on my page! Come and check it out! Happy New Year!

  • How about showing us the G36 vs XDm .45C 3.8" ? Flush mag = 9rds over the Glocks 6rds.

  • glock 17... When are we gonna see you shoot it?

  • u rock it jus something about the glock 36 that make me go nutts

  • Can you swap the slides between a 36 and a 30?? You could use the appropriate recoil spring.

  • Would love to see you do a review on the Glock G.A.P. family... Nothing wrong with a G.A.P.

  • Great review would you use a G39 slide on a G26 frame so you can have a .45 cal sub compact. Glocks are my favorite.

  • Thanks to your friend for the load of the gun so you could make this video. Awesome video and great close up's of the Glock. I sure do enjoy your video's, so much fun to watch and I do learn a lot from them too.

  • Another great review Hickock. The 36 is I think the most controversial Glock made. I have LARGE hands but love how thin the 36 is and find it incredible simple to shoot. Other friends who have shot it think its a terrible gun!

It is my main carry piece and I find it conceals well with a crossbreed supertuck IWB.

Wish they also made a single stack 9mm but that is never going to happen.

  • Is it just me, that ejector is bent like a fishhook, or is that a baby glock thing?

  • Hey Hickock I'm pretty new to your vids and I love them. I've also come to understand you love Glocks. I do too, but I'm kind of partial to external safeties. Can you speak to the necessity or lack thereof of a thumb safety?

  • @capecodpirate7, True safety has little to do with what mechanical devices are on your gun. The 1911 has always had lots of safeties, but over the years, especially before the Glock and others surpassed it in numbers being used, it's had it's fair share of unintentional discharges. Actually, the gun has not; the people handling them have done the "discharging unintentionally." Safety is a matter of training and focus. The only real safety is that gray matter between our ears.

  • @hickok45 Peirce grip has a plus one magazine grip extender that has a glock plug that makes the magazine flush with the glock 36.

  • @hickok45 dude do u type all these words or do u have a grandson i mean no offense to you

  • @GaNgStAr646, Type what "words"? Nobody types for me, if that's what you mean. :-)

  • @hickok45 ok cause i never seen a old guy like you type so cool no offense

  • @GaNgStAr646, I see. I think I mention it in a Radio Show somewhere, but I can type about 100 words a minute. The only problem is, I can't "think" 100 words per minute. :-)

  • @hickok45 lol

  • what a tank

  • I'm a retired fed who qualified at least 4 times a year for 32 years. I own & have carried many models of Glocks, Sigs, S&W revolvers and a Ruger SR40c. My primary personal concealed carry pistol was a Glock 26 when I was on the job. But after I retired I starting carrying a Glock 36 in a cross breed supertuck holster at 5 o'clock most of the time. I also carry a 7 round magazine in a cross breed mag holder at 7 o'clock. 7 rds of .45 ACP w/ a reload is plenty for an experienced marksman IMHO.

  • nice tupperware

  • Comment removed

  • nice

  • From some quick numbers the Kahr P45/CW45 are about the same size and capacity (same height, shorter barrel) the Kahr PM45 is a good bit smaller, 5+1 with a flush fit mag, and is my preffered pocket gun/backup

  • SOMEONE LET HICKOK BORROW YOUR GLOCK18!!!!!

  • Wonderful! Thanks Hickok G36 for me!

  • Your channel is great! Visit mine and watch my 3 Glock 36 vids! Thanks

  • Where can you get those grips or grip tape or what ever it is haha a lot of guys at the range has that on their guns

  • always glock :D

  • Hickok,

With regards to using a G36 slide on a G30 frame...

When I attended the Glock certified armorers course last year, they shared with us a Glock 36/30 in this exact configuration. They nicknamed it the "Recon Glock". So Glock is not only aware that such a thing is possible, they also do not seem to find any real fault in doing so.

  • since you are a glock fan you should check out larry vickers tac tv glock tuffness test it blew my mind. And still never get tired of you videos keep up the good work my man !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I have both a Ruger LCR and the G36 I like to use for cc. Besides having two additional larger rounds, the G36 is thinner than the LCR because of the latter's cylinder. The drawbacks are the G36 is longer and heavier. The G36 is great for winter cc while I prefer the LCR in the summer.

  • Hey Hickok was wondering. I know you shoot pretty far out on those metal targets but have you ever considered investing in frangible ammunition? Copper + polyester rounds designed to shoot up close at metal targets. Think you should check it out for a future video so you can go up and close (3 - 4 feet) so we can see the full effects of the guns.

  • @HirachieOfSociety did you see that in fps russia video? :p ....

  • new subscriber and newly self dissevered gun enthusiast, and i gotta say i love your videos but furthermore i don't think a 6-round magazine was too good of an idea but i guess it is understandable due to it's small stature maybe because its meant for concealment and for home use so it woodnt need the large 15 round magazine haha

  • it makes me thirsty LOL

  • Hickok... since your a big Glock fan and talking today about the 45 ACP - How about doing a segment on the Glock GAP i.e. your view, thoughts etc.

  • Requesting FN2000 or whatever the civilian version is called

  • The G36 is my carry piece.

  • let me give you my mindless, brainless impressions of it

  • Thank you for making this vid. I'm needing some real good analysis to decide on whether to buy one... love your vids.

  • Glock 36 slide on the 29 frame is my primary carry weapon. Hundreds of rounds downrange without a problem or abnormal wear. Had to purchase a G30 10rd magazine though.

  • Dam purple drink!

  • Having chunky hands, I always found that the flesh of my pinky would get pinched between the mag extension and the bottom of the grip frame. Other than that, it shot great.

  • @Ironhandjohn So don't use a magazine extention. You don't need those fingers to grip the gun anyway.

  • The Glock 36 is the Detonics Combat Master for the 21st century..

  • its call a G66

  • @TonyisynoT

    Dude wat

    Check the Glock website

    glock.com/english/glock36.htm

  • @VicariousReality7 I was talking about when Hickok45 took the slide from the g36 and put it on the g30 we call it the gun world a G66! 30+36=66!

  • I really like my G36....it is a little harder to shoot.compared to other Glocks due to the thinner grip, but conceals really well and ultra reliable even if dirty.

  • Can you use your considerable influence with Glock to get them to make a single stack 9mm? Something about the size of a Ruger LC9 or Kel-Tec PF9?

  • No disrespect intended but the intro reminded me of the Mr. Rodgers of hand guns. ;)

  • You are the man Hickok! Thanks for making that video definitely made my mind up

  • @megacooldude2468 you should check out playlists for glock videos, he has 51 glock videos uploaded for your viewing pleasure.

  • I have Glock 36 and just ordered my Talon Grips. Derik is a really cool guy!

  • do you have a glock 17?

  • Im a little embarrassed to admit that i never knew Glock made a single stack 45 before watching this video.....Seems to me the G36 may be one of the most ideal platforms for large caliber concealed carry that is currently available.....Thickness is arguably the single biggest factor in how well a gun comfortably conceals...#2 is length of grip... Furthermore..Jeff Cooper would take serious exception to anyone who believed they were ill prepared to throw down with "only" 7 rounds of 45 acp...

  • He is Hickok! not HickoCk! :)

  • Back in the day a lot of the guys on my department, including myself, bought 36s and they were not dependable and we eventually got rid of them. I don't know if Glock addressed this issue or not in the current production models.

  • Merry Christmas, keep em coming. An sp101 review would be great. Great reviews.

  • I've owned a model 36 since 2008. It has been my primary carry gun ever since. It shoots smooth and accurate in my opinion. I have larger hands than Hickok45 and he is right about the small grip being a gripe because it's my only gripe, however, the pros of this gun outweigh the cons all day.

  • So you have one of the best ccw in safe ???

  • @sargon08 he actually says it's a viewer's gun (on loan) later in the video. I think he was joking about the gun safe comment.

  • @CJUS511TAC Ah I see. I had figured maybe it was a wear & tear. Thanks for the reply.

  • Hickock, recent subscriber, big fan. Question re the ram at upper right. This target seems to consistently pose a problem. Is that an issue with the target or related to your hold as you sweep left to right? I ask as I a, facing a similar consistency issue with the dueling tree at my local range. Mid target gets me every time. Great video. Keep it up! Much appreciated.

  • @MorganTownley, It's sitting on a piece of steel that moves with the goat. It all just gives and doesn't want to fall over. If I switched out the two goats, it would be the same in that position.

  • Ur the man hickock. Let me know if you'd like to shoot my LCR 357. I'd like to see how you handle the recoil. You'd probably make it look like a .22

  • Is there a reason whenever the slide is locked open that you pull the slide back and release it (rather than pressing the slide release)? Is that just to avoid wearing the catch out?

  • when are you going to get a 50 gi in glock form?

  • lets see a kimber solo shooting review!

  • Please do a Daewoo K2 review

  • My Glock 36 fits well in the same Bianchi snaplock holster as my G22, G23, and G26

  • DAYUM! With a handgun that small you might as well THROW the rounds at somebody! LOL

  • i know you want admit it but you sir are a dangerous man! nice shooting ..

  • Thanks for making this video. The only thing I don't like about the Glock 36 is the magazine limits. Other than that, it fits me well. I wish I had your target range. If I shot anything other than a shotgun on my property, the bullet would skip along for quite a while and hit someone or something. God bless and good shooting.

  • You're a great shot, sir!

  • get of the glock fad they suck i have seen pictures of exploded glocs. and before u accuse they were verry well maitained. i have yet to hear of a 1911 styled desgn having a catostrophic failure unlike the glok.

  • @9123flash

"seen pictures" hahaha try owning one

  • @9123flash Troll. Your kinda cool aid isnt welcome here.

  • Bought a G27 when they came out because I couldn't afford both the G23 AND G27 for summer/winter carry. Been wanting a G23 or G22 and may go with the G36 now that I know Glock actually makes a single-stack .45ACP. Thank you Hickok45 for bringing this to my attention. I'd rather have 7+1 (with a +1 base plate) than 13 of .40S&W. Then again, a G21 with a .50GI conversion would be nice too. They keep coming out with models faster than I can come up with the cash to buy them. :)

  • @GarandGunner You would rather have 7 rounds of 45 as compared to 14, not 13 of 40? If you add the base plate and carry one chambered (as you should) of 40 you would be looking at 15 rounds of 40 with no reload. I think you need to rethink that one.

  • Merry christmas Mr hickok45 and your family (-;

  • great video as usual.

  • my fav glocks are the 17, 26, 27, 36, and 21

  • @ICallHaxz which models do you like best?

  • My favorite gun is the glock 9mm or the 45

  • Hey hickok I'm a big fan of "unique" glocks such as the 36, 25 and 28 (though they are illegal I've only read about them) and the 45 GAPs. Think you'll ever do a review on a glock 37 8 or 9?

  • im just starting to have mag issues.

  • That clankining steel is music that sooths my soul. If only you could get some more tatgets out there and fire of about 100,000 rounds from a ma Deuce. it would be like a drum solo at a rock concert. LOL

  • Just held a Glock21SF in my hands today. If they made all glocks have the same handgrip, it'd be the perfect gun!

  • @mustangx218 I prefer the SIG p226, it's a much more solid weapon, but everyone is different I guess.

  • i notice your slides go back pretty easy is that just cause they are worn in guns? i have put about 200 rounds through my 21SF and the slide seems to need a little muscle to pull back i clean and lube it everytime i use it.

  • @gooferman609 stop cleaning it. put about five hundred more rounds thru it and see if that helps.

  • i wana see you shoot and review a tank !!!

  • Hi Hickok45 - I was excited to hear you say "Kahr" during the video - I think it's the first time I've heard the brand mentioned in any of your videos. My carry pistol is a Kahr P45, and I sure would like to see you shoot one some time. I bought mine because I really liked how thin it was for a .45 ACP. I'm still getting used to the long trigger pull, but I really do like the gun. Anyway, thanks for making all the great videos, please keep it up!

  • @tomjbw AAHH YOU KNOW HE ACUTALLY TOOK TIME TO MAKE A THING CALLED "PLAY LIST" HE HAS/HAD KAHRS

  • @tymanG19fan thanks.

  • @tomjbw , I better have said "Kahr" in my Kahr videos! :-)

  • @hickok45 ah, my mistake, I heard "car." Makes sense now that I think about it... Or maybe I should watch your entire library before making generalizations about it... but hey, I'd still like to hear hear an assessment of the P45 by the .45 authority of youtube! I'm sure if one becomes available to you, we'll see it. Thanks again.

  • @hickok45 I made a cool picture for you! It's on your Facebook wall because YouTube doesn't let you post picture links... UHG.

  • I love my Glock 21. It is one fine shooting gun. Looking into getting at smaller one, most likely a 30. Thanks for the great videos.

  • just came from gander and there were like 10 xds and only 2 glocks!!!!!!

  • I can listen to this music all day! Thanks Hickok my 45 ACP is becoming my fav!

  • Kinda off topic but I noticed your reloads have to primers sealed, what advantage do you get with this, do you recomment it and why please, thanks

  • @danthebeeman, They are not reloads.

  • @danthebeeman The sealant keeps moisture out and the powder dry...

  • do a desert eagle 50 ae review hickock

  • Do you have videos on the mac 10 or 11? I'll be happy to lend you mine.

  • Off topic Hickok but which GOP candidate are you backing for president? Ron Paul I hope ;-)

  • @CygnusTheIronDream Hickok For president!!!!

  • Colt defender might work better for me. Love to see 3" 1911 vid. with your thoughts.

  • FrankenGuns are dangerous - best not to mismatch firearm componets

  • You must be a mind reader. Yesterday I was wondering why you hadn't reviewed the Glock 36. Today I check YouTube and low and behold a full G36 review. Since you can apparently read my mind I am really looking forward to your Beretta Nano review;)

  • We hear so much bad news...and then you tell this great story of meeting the nice fella that let you borrow his gun. Cool. ...And what another good story about "gun lovers." We are not nuts. Appreciate your work.

  • Jaw drop! There's a single stack GLOCK!?

Oooooo! Interesting about the G36 slide on the G30 frame. Neat how you would have a thicker grip than slide. I don't think I would do that though. Maybe if Glock okay'ed it.

  • i've been thinking on the Glock 30 and the XDm 45 compact for awhile now and now the glock 36 lol

  • u wud not want to rob a bank with this guy in it

  • do you have a desert eagle review?

  • @tytymanM60 Yes, search 'Desert Eagle' on his page

  • Bill, we need you if Left4dead happends for real...

  • Glock 27 for me after the holidays

  • Thanks for finally reviewing MY favorite Glock ... the G3. It's my daily carry gun and it's been totally reliable and durable, and I have one of the early models. Granted, it does recoil a bit, although not enough to be bothersome, and there are times I prefer my G19 for its capacity. But the G36 fits my hand perfectly. As usual, hickok45 does a great review!

  • I think I would rather carry a revolver for CCW, but what do I know: Canadian.

  • I did not realize that the 36 slide was so thin. One of the reasons I don't have a 21 is because the slide is so chunky. I have always settled for a slimmer 22.

I thought maybe the 20/21 slide had to be thicker. That is obviously not the case.

Why do you think Glock makes the 20/26 slide so thick when it could be as thin a a 17/19 or 23/22?

I guess the 20/26 slide is thicker to keep the grip, frame, and slide the same width. But the grip on a 1911 is thicker than the frame and slide!

  • You put the Talon grips on a borrowed gun? They don't damage or scuff the gun when you try to remove them?

  • @brandonbush1, Nope, just like quality masking tape; you never know it was there.

  • Hi Hickok!

That squirrel is not happy! ;O)

  • I had a Glock 36 for a little while. I really liked it a lot. I got a decent deal on it and shot and carried it for a while. I never had one problem or malfunction. I probably would have kept it, but I was offered more money than I paid, so I let it go. Also I would like to see you do a video of an RPK if you get a chance.

  • AGH! When is Glock going to give us a Compact .45 Auto!!!!!!!!!! Screw the damn GAP!! I want AUTO!!!
