The only thing you really can't get from this video is the fragrance of this plant - the flowers (Mountain Lilac) are very strong-smelling (in a good way) and you can smell them from hundreds of feet away. Thanks for checking it out :-)

I'm not too familiar with traditional Lilacs, and these species may not even be related. I do know that there are around 50 species of Ceanothus in California, and the few that I am familiar with smell similar, but different, even though they are very closely related and can hybridize easily. They're VERY fragrant, and when you happen into a patch of them in bloom it's overpowering (but pleasant)! :-)
