Chip Townsend Board Breaking!!!

He is not a fake I have watched him in person and personally held the bat before he broke it. He might be showing off a little. But that just shows you don't want to mess with him. Oh and for whoever committed the yelling it helps. Also he broke the skinny part because he can control it better. You should not call someone or something fake if you truly don't know them. You did great Master Chip. Can't wait to see you again at next testing.

Fast and very clean, psycho screaming and psyching up is stupid, no obviously this is not for saving wife&kids-I'm sure he knows other stuff for that, it a demonstration of skill - and a good one too!

I really like that board holder. How it opens when you hit. ours is just welded steel, and the boards slide in. Sucks for jumping kicks cause you have to hold your foot out or break it..

board breaking does take skill and technique, and it does train you to take pain and hit through things, BUT I don't see it as something that could potentially save your life.

the kicks will save someone's life if it means that you can disarm someone. It's all in the actual technique. I know a back kick saved me from an attacker not to long ago when he thought he was going to surprise me. The main thing is that any technique used may save your life maybe not that particular technique but definitely something similar.

i guess it depends on the situations you've been put in.

ive been jumped by almost 10 people and i managed to get the first two down before everyone else almost got to me. the secret is to divide and conquer ;) but that takes stamina and a little brains.

But what not practice on people instead of boards? That's my point.

As a martial artist, you need to learn how to exercise control and discipline. Boards to me are almost like showing off. Like I said, breaking does take skill and technique and it does train you to take pain and hit through objects, BUT, I don't know when I'll be attacked by stationary boards.
