  • doesn't sound bad at all for someone who own a pair of macaws\cockatoos. such a cutie

  • I have 22 birds and two which are sun conures they are by far the loudest in the bird/my room!

  • glad to see im not the only one who has to deal with this

  • I guess I'm one lucky guy!

My sunny seldom screams, and is a very quiet, adult sun conure. He's social, but likes it quiet most of the time, and he stays quiet most of the time. I lucked out when I got him on that aspect.

  • Wow, I never knew that all conures could get THAT loud!!!

  • I use di video to annoy prank callers!!! man i love this vid!!

  • ha! my blue crown was totally into this... maybe he wanted some treats? :)

  • im watching this with my sun and then she starts laughing at it and i said "ya thats you"

  • My sun does that too

  • do suns scream a lot? is it to the point where they get annoying? i wanna get one but i dont want it to be obnoxious :p

  • haha my sun conure got scared by this. hes so cute :)

  • i wanted a sun conure before, but if thats its inside voice....

  • I live in a unit, and i really want to get a sun conure, i love the colour and tempermant and it seems like they have a personality! Do you think it would be quiet if i keep in in a non noisy place, and be quiet myself? Please help me, i would really love a bird companion :)

  • LOL! "use you inside voice", it clearly does not give a flying fuck about using its inside voice

  • Wow my green cheek is MUCH quieter than this!!!

  • Sounds just like my Jenday Counre :)

  • this startled my green cheek... me too a bit XD

  • @FORCHAOS

You could get a lovebird hand tamed for 65$

  • believe it or not i actually love the sound...

  • Is this how loud a blue-crowned conure is?

  • HOLY SHIT THAT'S LOUD, I MEAN, I KNEW THEY WERE LOUD BUT...GOD DAM!!!

  • haha m y sun conure is screaming back at this video

  • Use your inside voice.

Conure: I DON'T WANT TO USE MY INSIDE VOICE.

  • I got a bird that screams like this all the time... I dont mind it so much but my parents flip since she does it alot

  • thats how my red capped sounds

  • Something you just think; STFU.

  • I am going to use Stewie's screeches to help lure back our Jenday that got out yesterday - she flew out the door behind me to sit on my head, but instead got scared of the neighbor's leaf blower and disappeared! We are devestated, we want our baby back SO much - will let you know if it helps! Thanks

  • i have a quaker parrot they kinda sound the same and im getting a sun conure this week

  • im in love with the sun conures ive allways wonted one and allways will, but my family wont handle the loud calls the suns make :(

  • I had one for 10 years, and one of my neighbor's god-damned cats killed it. >:(

  • if he is screaming and you dont want him to and you telling him to do tricks he will do the tricks and screech because your using a clicker he is responding to tricks and screeching and thats praising him to do both not to mention screeching

  • my sun conure also screams like tht

  • my ears started bleeeding cuz i had hedphones on and the volume up XD!

  • wow,,, crazy noise,,, i was going to get a sunnie but thought about its noise level so got a lovebird... i think i made a right choice because if i wuda gotten a sunnie i wuda gv it up to someone else because of its loud noise,,,

  • I would listen to screaming all day long if I could have my babies back. They are worth the noise, no doubt about it!!

  • I loved my sun conure so much! He was a wonderful sweet boy, but he loved to fly through the house screaming. They are not good for apartments. I had him for 12 years.

  • You've saved yet another conure. We've had ours for all of six days and last night, heartbreakingly, she got out. We searched the neighborhood all night to no avail. We thought we would hear her complaining when she woke, but we did not. Later in the morning we had the thought to look for conure sounds to lure her back. We found your video, played it, and it wasn't long before we saw her flying overhead, despite her half-clipped wings. Thank you so much for bringing her back to us. =)

  • @Mystogryph Wow, I'm really glad you were able to get her back and that we were able to help. Your quick thinking surely made a huge difference! How were you able to get her to come to you once you spotted her? Have you worked on recall training?

  • how do you lose a parrot after owning it SIX DAYS what the fuck....its unbeleivable the kind of idiots incapable of wiping their own ass they will sell a pet too.....give it to someone that deserves it and will actually take care of it.

  • @Mystogryph Thats so cool! He saved our little black capped Conure last summer...We have always played the videos for him...he LOVES them..so its fun time...he talks back...so when he flew off and we were running around calling him...I said he wont awnser us but he will awnser Stewie! and he did :) This is a great trick when we're desperate!

  • @Mystogryph Excellent thinking! Sound is probably a bird's strongest sense.

I did something similar with wild quail for photo purposes. It was pretty amusing when they figured out I wasn't one of them.

  • Own he is so cute, and Loud kkkk, Now I'm so afraid because I live in a apartment and I am buying a baby sun conure, he is the cutest thing but I am so afraid it will be really to loud. Tell me the truth how often does get loud like that the role day?

  • @mari82441 I don't advise having sun conures in apartments because all it takes is for one neighbor to be really annoyed to cause major problems. It doesn't matter if he's loud twice a day or all day long if your neighbor is hell bent on making trouble for you. LOTS of sun conures end up getting rehomed because of the noise issue. Not every sun conure is loud all the time, but what will you do if yours is? Please at least consider a different type of conure if you still can.

  • @3ponymous are they truly loud when ur trying to sleep

  • @3ponymous Well what's the best bird an apartment, I like the senegal are they quite?

  • @3ponymous I am lucky to be friends with my landlady who is an animal lover and loves my conures. Of course I live in a brick building with thick walls.

  • @3ponymous I am getting one but that is worrysome, are they loud in mornings like 6am to early? Mine is a pinapple green conure i think......

  • @amiworthit1968 Green cheek conures (GCCs), and all the pyrrhuras conures, are quieter than sun conures. The aratingas in general much louder. I encourage you to do lots of research on your bird so you understand the species and their specific needs.

  • @3ponymous thanks...I decided to go with Cockatiel lol

  • @amiworthit1968 You're welcome!

  • use ur inside voice........

  • I have the same parrot and she can scream louder XD and she screams while I'm watching my fav show XP

  • Lol they can be loud. My sun conure was on my shoulder and screamed right into my ears!! lol

  • full volume and headphones... yeah...

  • My green cheek conure sounds mute in comparison to my sun conure!

  • train him to recieve skull fluffies.

  • your bird is so cute, love your bird

  • Love the turn trick, hate the racket. :)

  • Of course some necessary slow introduction between the two would be beneficial before I give them both full roam of my room. My tiel was always searching for a friend among other specie,s including my dog and reptiles, but none of them cared to truly be his friend- only enough to accept him being around them.

  • He knows me very well and no longer nips me. Instead, he nibbles on my finger and starts banging his beak on his cage and doing a little head-bobbing while I play with him. Similar to what my cockatiel does when he wants attention. Cute....... Luckily I don't live in an apartment though, so the noise level wouldn't really affect anyone. I will let his flight feathers grow out, and he will eventually have full roam of my room, like my 'tiel.

  • It's loud, but not as irritating as when my cockatiel screams, because when my cockatiel screams, his little episodes can last up to an hour, in the morning. I thought the conures were truly much louder. I will probably get the one in the pet store that has stuck there for about 9 months as an early Hanukkah/ Christmas present.

  • I have a pineapple conure, and I am so thankful he doesn't scream like that. He makes these little ribbity noises and some times he'll make a little screech but nothing like that. How long did it take you to train him like that? I've had mine for about a month now and he's a year old already so I'm a little worried that it's going to take me longer than I expected. I got him from a breeder who had him and probably about 5 other conures in a cage that was probably about 2x1x2.

  • @krystalinownsurface it takes a good while with conures. if he bites don't back down or else he will think he has power over u. also if it screams don't run to him that will teach him to scream when he wants u. go give him a treat when he is quiet if screaming starts leave him alone. he will learn

  • @mattharden1982 I finally got him trained. He's noisy some times though and loves to be scratched :)

  • THANKS FOR CHANGING MY MIND!!! THATS WHY ITS SO IMPORTANT TO INVESTIGATE BEFORE GETTING ANY PEY- A PARAKEET LOOKS GOOD

  • @gayle2020 finches are really cool to..

  • @gayle2020 parakeets/budgies are good I own 9 and actually at times i have found a single parakeet can make as much noise as a sun conure. having 9 they chatter constantly but i love it.

  • My sun conure wont accept treats by hand. Its weird.

  • l have a sun and 2 blue crown and when the blue crowns get going they will out screan the sun any day lololol

  • my Sun Conure does the same thing especialy after meor my wife holer for our kids, its as if he is calling them too

  • Good job on no clip!

That makes them feel REALLY good!

    Not like in prison!

I hope he lives for atleast 25 years!

  • "Use your inside voice!" "FUCK YOU!"

  • HELLO THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR VIDEO... It helped me get my conure back as well. Shady loves watching this video. We have his wings clipped but they were in the process of growing back when he got out. Two days we sat at a tree trying to get him out. I finally remembered he LOVES this video and so I came home grabbed my phone and recorded the sound. Shady came right down..... YOU SAVED MY BIRD TOO!! :D SHADY LOVES STEWIE!!!

  • @cera1756 Yeah, Youtube.... it's for the birds too!

Our Conure loves the videos, and it's the best trick for finding a lost bird, they can't resist talking back, there was no way we would have found ours otherwise, since he flew into the woods with thousands of trees and was too scared to make a sound once he flew 50 feet into a tree...but couldn't resist talking to Stewie. It's the best trick for finding a lost bird!

  • Makes me miss my little sun conure. He died one year ago.

  • Stewie just saved our little black capped conure! He flew away when we had him out side and we couldnt find him...I grabed my laptop and played Stewies video...it is his favorite..we were able to find him and capture him and bring him home :)

    Thankyou Stewie!

  • @buddhashake WOW! That's amazing! I'm so glad Stewie was able to play a part in getting your conure back. And thank you so, so much for sharing this story with us. I'm so happy for you!

  • @3ponymous my friend has a sun conure, and no i dont live in an apartment im 12 years old and my mom thinks it would be good to have on i allready have 2 parrakeets (that hate me) What birds that cost more than parakeets but less than 100 dollaars plaese help me!! :(

  • @buddhashake Stewie just saved my conure too.... THANKS STEWIE....

Getting my birds wings re clipped today..

  • @buddhashake ...great news!!!, pass this on to other bird owners.. the birds want to be with their flock more than anything, including you. We have had some just hide out for a bit, and they will only call to their flockmates, even if its a different bird. conures are loud, but the bird who hides or has flown is often afraid and will not call as loud.

  • hes very majestic

  • will they still be this bad if they were in a pair?

  • @cmac183 Twice the birds, twice the noise (or more)! Sure, they'd have each other for company, which might curb the desire to scream a bit. However, once one of them gets going, it'll set off the other one and then they'll egg each other on, so then you'll have more/louder screaming. I wouldn't say that a pair of sun conures is EVER quieter than one ;)

  • @cmac183 much louder in a pair. I own 1 and its not very loud at all but in a pair its non stop

  • My nanday conure is like the same way! It can get so annoying! but it's good to know that if something bad is happening, and your not in the room, you have a instant alarm(:

  • my budgies do that :l adorable loud lil guys

  • I wish I'd known, or at least my husband wouldve known how loud these are before we got one. I love him to bits but when I leave him alone for 5 seconds, he screams and screams.. I have tried ignoring for many past weeks but nothing is happening and as I live in an apartment I dont think I can ignore it anymore. On my bad days I actually get very ANNOYEDDD

  • I wish I could have one. :( They're soo sweet but it wouldn't be fair to the bird. I was told they need tons of attention, and I'm not home nearly enough, plus I live in a small apartment with a demanding kitty. D: your Stewie is so sweet though x

  • Oh, thank goodness my Sun Conures doesn't scream nearly this much!

  • @ralykSNtepnatS I know right?? I have a sun conure too and he doesn't scream that much only when no one is paying attention to him.

  • 30 seconds of that squawking and I'd have the bird battered and fried.

  • @meticulum dude wtf is wrong with you.

  • well,i'm goin to buy new speakers tom....nice...

  • that's a very beautyful bird!

My budgie can turn and wave tooXD

  • LOL My jenday Morgan started doing laps when he heard Stewie.

  • My bird usually screams relentlessly when he's tired, and I can't try to put him in his bed or else he'll bite me VERY hard, then continue to shriek. My Parents have to come put him away.

  • oh man. i think im sloooowly changing my mind about getting one. we live in an apartment, and for my neighbors sake i think a different bird will be better.

  • @ladycin I'm glad you're getting educated about potential issues. If you live in an apartment and you think the neighbors will complain, then you should probably stay away from aratinga conures. It would be very sad if you got a bird and had to rehome it because of the noise. That happens a lot, unfortunately. You might want to look into cockatiels or green cheek conures... both are similar in size to a sun conure and are pretty awesome little birds too.

  • @3ponymous I live in an apartment, and I own a pet budgie. He can be a little loud sometimes, but he has the sweetest chirps.

  • @3ponymous I live in an apartment, and I own a pet budgie. He can be a little loud sometimes, but he has the sweetest chirps.

  • @ladycin if you live in a apartement forget about, we had to sold ours because we moven in a appartement

  • @ladycin Conures are known for getting people kicked out of apartments.... My bird screams and you can hear him two or three blocks away. :D

  • @ladycin one conure aint bad loud as long as you spend time with it. thats what you must remember with conures.

  • I know your pain, I have a sun conure too!:)

  • My Bird constantley screams whenever i walk through the door and she climbs all over her cage and she's just a lunatic! and i have dogs and i snuggle with my litle 1 and if i let Stevie my bird out she bites him really hard......and if i put her back in she bites me and she screams more......what should i do?

  • mine does the same, it drives me freaking nuts, holy hell thinking about selling it/giving it away.

  • when this happens with your conure, is it something that you just work through?

  • @hoshinokachi264 It depends on why he's screaming. If a bird is screaming for attention, you have to ignore it... and be very consistent about ignoring it.

  • @3ponymous that is good to know, i have been researching about different birds that i am interested in adopting and i have been wondering how one 'disciplines' their, because they are different from any other animal i have had. thank you for letting me know!

  • @hoshinokachi264 Well, yes and no, the more time you spend with them, the less they scream but also it depends on there personality, if they are really attached to you then they get demanding sometimes.

It all depends on how they act and how much they are spoiled.

I have had mine for almost a year and whenever I leave or enter my room she screams for a minute and then stops.

  • Oh. My. God. I really am in awe of your patience! XD

  • i had a sun its officially the loudest bird i have ever been around since it has such a shrill scream but keeping him in the living room where theres lots of people going in and out helps a lot.

  • Goldie my sun conure heard the screaming and said "what" and then went back to her preening.

  • mine too lol

  • He has the voice of an angel. ^^

  • I'd assume that the bird is scared of the camera.

I walked in with a balloon once. Never again.

  • This is usually his "I see seagulls/pigeons outside" scream, but he didn't have a view of any with the screen up.

Camera would be a good guess, but he's not afraid of it.

Chalk it up to him having a sun conure moment. ;)

You have a gold cap/sun hybrid?

  • @AriaGinmizu lol

  • lols my friend walked by mine with his motorcycle helmet on and got a nice chunk of flesh removed from his nose.

  • @AriaGinmizu

it ended up popping, right?, the same happen if any one has a plasict bag, if he even hears it, get it out of the house

  • My sun/ gold capped conure Ty screams like this all the time. I'm pretty sure it means he is mad.

  • not at all, they scream when they want attention from their flock, it's a thing they do in the wild.

it can also mean they are happy, also they enjoy it if you raise your voice back.

  • When he yells, telling him to use his 'inside voice' - to his mind - thinks you're rewarding him for screaming, so he will continue. (it's best to ignore loud birds and give them treats when they've been quiet. They will learn not to be loud.)

  • Telling him to use his inside voice is a cue for an incompatible behavior.

Ignoring the bird is an appropriate response if a bird is screaming for attention; Stewie was not screaming for attention in this case.

  • lol my conure screamed when he heard this parrot too lol

  • I have a sun conure too , he's almost a year old. He screamed when he heard your guy scream.XD

  • @shadoweon Its a classic, so does mine. Mine flips out.

  • lol at the stupid Peta fanatic that dosnt know what hes talking about!

  • wow beautiful birds but definitely loud. I got a yellow sided who is pretty quiet but hilariously goofy!

  • my sis jsut got a sun conure not sure how old it is but i think its young and he doesnt want to come out of the cage and doesnt get on our fingers :(

  • I just got a 4 month old Sun Conure yesterday from Petsmart, completely untrained but very loved there. I already taught her how to step up and not to bite and she is very quiet, for now at least. XD I named her Kiki.

  • do not buy them from petco or petsmart they are neglected

  • No they aren't. Petsmart, at least most of them, have bird specialists working there and all employees are well informed. They play with them every day in the little room thing and Kiki is a very cute, very loud (when I'm not around as I'm told), and very sweet.

  • yes they are. I go to petco almost every other day to get crickets for my geckos and theres this dark little closet that the birds are in and its usually locked up

  • Hey idiot, its called either the "Quiet Room" for more simpler terms which means "Sick Room" or it could be the "new arrival room" where we have to keep all new animals contained for at least seven days to see if the animal is suitable with other animals which examples are: Sickness, agressiveness, and if we have room for the animal or not. If the animal is sick we take it to a Vet for proper care.

  • no you dont understand. petsmart and petco only carry beginner birds like cockatiels. they are sick with nasal discharge or they pluck their feathers. look up petsmart neglected animals for your answer.

  • How do you know? Do you go to every store and examine the birds? If so you need to find another hobby, if not you need to find some other proof besides a stupid Peta site that shows that SOME stores neglect these sort of birds. Our associates at ours treat them with uttermost care. Hunt the individual stores, dont hunt the company itself.

  • how do i know? i sneak in that little closet thing that they keep them in and look at them. some of them have like no feathers because of stress. some have wounds or toeless feet, nasal discharge or injured eyes. I asked if these birds were for sale and they said yes. ive seen dead ones occassionaly. my work here is done.

  • Your work here is done? What proof do you have? By your vocabulary "Little Closet Thing" I don't suppose you have any of the slightest idea of what your talking about. When you start working at a Petsmart or a PetCo THEN come to me with some shit words you continue to pull out of your ass.

  • i see the birds missing toes and they dont move most of the time. I never want to work at those stores because of the way they treat their animals... dont even bother asking me how they treat their reptiles. and it is physically impossible to pull 'words' out of an ass. and by little closet thing I mean a closet. enough said.

  • Well then that means that you live in a very bad area, or you just have bad stores. In my Petsmart, they have a huge room with all of the birds and they are let out into individual aviaries a few times a day for exercise and to get out of their cages.

  • @mikeperetz, yesterday I was there and there was one bird in there. it was very sad. the others died.

  • So you sneak into a back room, and not only do they not mind you doing so, you ask them if their sick birds are for sale and they say yes. That sounds so believable.

  • yes, I do. usually the door is open and I just peak my head in and see most of the birds on the floor of the cages. I have a sun and he is very healthy and never does that.

  • Neglected? I work at Petsmart, your an idiot.

The birds passed history is what is more important. Wherever we get the birds is was causes them to be afraid or look/feel neglected. Associates take good care of all of our animals. So why dont you go say something useful.

  • To the person who is getting a Green Cheek Conure, I have one. I wanted a Sun Conure, but heard that Green Cheeks were quieter. Well, then I wanted a Cinnamon or Pineapple Green Cheek, but got just a regular Green Cheek instead. He is SO LOUD! I can't even talk to people on the phone while I'm anywhere close to his cage. I have never seen another conure as loud as mine, and he goes on for minutes and minutes. I should have a video of him. It would make you change your mind.

  • Yeah; suns are beautiful, but I passed on adopting one because of the screaming.

I have a relatively quiet adopted White Wing 'keet and a Pineapple Green Cheek who's quiet even when he's trying to be noisy!

  • At first i thought I wanted a sun conure more than anything, but as I started researching them I found out how loud they are, now im planning on getting a green-cheek in december

  • Good for you for doing your research!!!

  • @luvmypup93 While Green check and other similar conure (Yellow side, brown head, pineapple, black cap, pearl, cinnamon) can be loud, they volume is much below the Sun's one.

Of course, most of them won't scream without reason, but when they get mad at something, the Sun will be much louder than the others :)

  • Is the little bird scared? I showed this vid to my Sun and he immediately went into hiding...

  • Heh. No, he wasn't scared. Probably just agitated by something... it passed.

  • Ah, sun conures. They're so loud, but we love them anyway. :) (Notice that the owner whose bird is getting quieter is not grateful, but worried. That's how you know it's love.)

  • Suns are beautiful! But seriously, I'm sooo glad I went with a Green Cheek!

Stella could never get that loud...

  • I have a Green Cheek Conure. He screams like this for attention, or when we have a party (he loves being around people) he prefers to be ther loudest when we are talking :P They are adorable but Green Cheeks are just as loud lol.

  • Lol yea, I heard that some people's GCC's get super loud. Mine never has gotten all that loud, though. Not any louder than a baby's crying, at least.

  • I went to see one like this at my friends house it flew from the cave and landed on my shoulder than stared at me than bit my ear e.e

  • OMG! My roommate has one of these and I have to work the graveyard shift at my job. The friggin bird screams all the time and I can't get any sleep when I come home from work. What do I do? I'm seriously about to KILL that bird!!!

  • You many want to talk to your roommate about it, and see what they can do.

  • I would probably invest in some really good earplugs or something, i doubt your friend will be able to control when the bird screams...

  • hi guys i have Sun Conure but her screaming start to change. getting softer? unlike before like this in this video. im very worry right now is she sick or something...??? pls help

  • aww i just got a yellow crested amazon today and she is awesome! she bonded with me quickly

  • thank u

  • i really miss my sun conure, ive had him for 7 years until he died yesterday, if ur looking for a smart pet, that will give u his love and friendship no matter what, get one of this beautiful birds, this is really hard for me, i feel so much pain inside that hes gone, im depressed

  • really sorry to hear that, hope it life gets better for u, i know wat its like to lose a bird, it suks=(

  • oh im so sorry i love my sun conure as you can see from my name i feel for you i know what its like to lose a pet at one point i had 21 pets in one room now im down to a sun conure who is like my baby

  • birds are big hearts in little bodies

  • Early morning screaming can "sometimes" be cured my placing a dark cover over the cage to calm it down. Then once it has become quiet praise it then feed it its morning meal. In my experience this has worked wonders and has for some of my fellow conure owners. Hope this helps.

  • I'm trying not to laugh at "use your inside voice" but I say the same thing to my brotogeris parakeet ;) Do you ever find yourself telling Stewie to "use your words?" That's when you know you have it bad... Hope that Stewie's training is coming along well!

  • I think he understands "inside voice". He'll make his quiet voice when asked if he's not too excited, but in this clip I think he's just got a bee in his bonnet.

I don't say "use your words" but I had a friend who would say that all the time. =) Stewie doesn't know any words, so that wouldn't get me very far.

  • Sounds just like mine!

  • I love my Sunny but he drives me insane with his screaming at 6am every morning, i am sure my neighbors hate me LOL, but does anyone know how to stop them

  • mine the same but what's weird is her name is stevie kind of the same it's scary and i think my stevie can be louder then ur stewie and a lot more annoying but u gotta love em Right?

  • He's lovely, but I am now so very glad I opted for a pionus rather than a conure... as, I imagine, are my neighbours. ;-)

  • I'm sure they are, even if they don't know it!

I have a pionus too, and I feel bad that she has to put up with Stewie. Pis are such sweeties, aren't they? ;)

  • i'd rather have them screaming than biting
