  • There is nothing superior to the Girard Skinner; just listen to it. Listen to Virgil or Carlo, or play it yourselfr. It's incredble.

  • Most pieces played by Carlo Curley I dont like, but his playing of Liebstod takes the cake. His choice of registration on the beautiful E.M. Skinner is absolutely wonderful. I love the fade out from principals to celestes at 3:43. I also love his use of the Vox Humana and small flute near the end of the piece. Although this Skinner is not a symphonic organ, Carlo managed to find some stops to make it sound somewhat orchestral. Hats off to Mr. Curley for a wonderful performance of Liebstod.

  • i hardly sense any rythm in this? Maybe try different articulation

  • @Gargantupimp - Rythem? It is not pop music?

  • @silverstartrucker I mean the beat is totally lost in a lot of places. In the original opera version the beat is strong and very solid, and a lot of places accented with pizzcato. It is a very rythmic piece.

  • @Gargantupimp I understand what you mean, but the organ is not a human voice. And he can take it whatever way he wants. I can barely hear it. Maybe that's why you don't think there's a solid beat?

  • @Gargantupimp It's perfect in rhythm. O.o Listen to the aria.

  • Nice but not the Wanamaker version (the one by PR Conte) !

  • @julorg - I agree with you...
