Most pieces played by Carlo Curley I dont like, but his playing of Liebstod takes the cake. His choice of registration on the beautiful E.M. Skinner is absolutely wonderful. I love the fade out from principals to celestes at 3:43. I also love his use of the Vox Humana and small flute near the end of the piece. Although this Skinner is not a symphonic organ, Carlo managed to find some stops to make it sound somewhat orchestral. Hats off to Mr. Curley for a wonderful performance of Liebstod.
@silverstartrucker I mean the beat is totally lost in a lot of places. In the original opera version the beat is strong and very solid, and a lot of places accented with pizzcato. It is a very rythmic piece.
@Gargantupimp I understand what you mean, but the organ is not a human voice. And he can take it whatever way he wants. I can barely hear it. Maybe that's why you don't think there's a solid beat?
goosebumps, like always.

There is nothing superior to the Girard Skinner; just listen to it. Listen to Virgil or Carlo, or play it yourselfr. It's incredble.
