yes kicks ass out of the crap to day nothing comes close this is from the days when there were no rules and simon cowell did not exist its a shame no ones got the balls or talent to create a band like this today it would sure be better than hearing a man with a sock on his head rapping bout his bitch
95% of teens these days listen to the same crappy pop songs over and over. if your one of the 5% left who still listen to real music.. then copy and paste it to least 5 video's. DONT LET THE SPIRIT OF ROCK&ROLL DIE

Some friends and I went to see Jethro Tull in Seattle back in the early 70's. Junior Cadillac opened the show for forty minutes. Then there was a short intermission. The lights went down. We could see movement on the stage. Some band called Yes was on their first American tour. I don't think we had even heard them on the radio. Then this massive sound new sound filled the hall. It was a life changing experience for this young musician. I loved Tull but their set paled after Yes.

This is brilliant - Steve Howe still sounding like he's the guitarist of Tomorrow - and Tony Kaye's keyboards just nicely accompanying everything - why did they change this lineup - they made the best Yes album - The Yes album!
@NeilThompson30: Hear, hear! All of their keyboard guys were very, very good. However, Tony Kaye had that understated greatness that had a huge contribution to the sound. His sound was just gnarly, raw, and played beautifully: a sound which can never be beaten and is the basis for most great pop music (Hank Williams, early Elvis, too many to list).
@NeilThompson30 so true the yes album is a masterpiece a true work of art and i recon they never topped starship trooper which was a shame still would of loved to have been a part of it all
Of course musically this is great, but I gotta say visually it's completely inexplicable! Tony Kaye looks like a hippie Stephen King, Jon Anderson looks like a hippie Michael J. Fox, Steve Howe appears to be wearing some Little House On The Prarie blouse, Chris Squire has 'poodle boots' and Bill Bruford has a shirt with the cryptic word "TUBS" on it. '70s fashion was so fucking weird......or maybe these guys were never fashionable to begin with.
See an interesting acoustic version of this song by my family at Marck O'Connor's 2007 Fiddle Camp in San Diego; search YouTube on: "Rebecca Gastfriend: All Good People - Your Move"
Why record labels don't apply some EQ to old recordings such as this is a mystery to me.
With this song you can certainly jack up the high and low ends, there's not much hiss or hum at all, makes it sound a good deal better. I wish Atlantic or someone would do that to Yessongs for example...
Yessongs is by far the best Yes performance ever. This is where they peaked. Especially the tunes with Bruford playing. Unfortunately the video version doesn't include any Bruford tunes. I would kill to get all the video footage from that tour!
@FriendOfaFiend You should hear some of the boots from the 1978-79 period. My God they on fire back then! Google 'sugarmegs' then click on the tape cassette icon, and select 'Y'. There are literaly DAYS of boots of Yes ( and other bands) there.
@neil73 Steve Howe was really ripping in those days. One of my favorite albums is Drama. A real departure from traditional YES but the energy level on that album is over the top. Listen to the classical type riffs he plays on Machine Messiah.
I absolutely love this band and their music! Great songwriting, musical arraignments, and their live shows rock! It's just a shame that Steve Howe looks like Stephen Hawking now - Yikes!
@dproce I saw them in 2000 and again on 2004. They seem to all be playing at half speed and playing half the notes. i have to say it was a bit of a let down to see them so long after they peaked. I saw the Big generator tour as well. In my eyes that was not YES. It was still good but it can't be compared to the original line-up. And when I say original, I mean Anderson Wakeman Howe Bruford and Squire. Listen to Yessongs w headphones, the best piece is Perpetual Change! Bruford plays on this.
Yes album,Fragile and Close to the edge were the best albums. The first two albums didn´t have much to say.Once Bruford left the band it never sounded the same.Tales from topographic misses Bruford and Wakeman. The band died in 1972.
Bruford's destiny was to work with Fripp...and the world was a better place because of it...Red is Bruford's azimuth and Lark's Tongue in Aspic was his masterpiece....
The band's sound changed drastically after Bruford left - a big loss. He is a unique drummer and very much a part of the original sound of the band. Alan is a fine drummer but it was never the same after Bill left.
saw these guys in greensboro: anderson, howe, squire, bruford and wakeman..these dudes kicked serious ass. talent. howe had a rack of guitars, wakeman was surrounded by keyboards..moog on one side grand piano on the other..bruford had cymbals galore..squire had a rickenbacker bass that thumped..anderson just sang his ass off..great group! yes!
Though some of the later tunes were very cool like "Awaken" All of Tormato, or "Our Song" just to name a few, Yes just had an overall much better sound and tone with Bill Bruford. I'm sorry, but you just can't replace Bill Bruford, it doesn't work. I would say that "Yesshows", the second live record, is the best Yes record with Alan White playing drums. Yesshows is a great album! But the first five Yes records with Bill Bruford will always be the best in my opinion.
@drunksingsheep Bruford is amazing. Thankfully there is no shortage of works to be enjoyed. King Crimson, lots of solo stuff, even the Genesis stuff he did. And Earthworks! Alan White is a great drummer but we'll never know what could have been had BB stayed a little while longer.....
@drunksingsheep I agree. My favorite album is Close To The Edge, and the live versions of those songs on Yessongs pale in comparison due to Alan White's drumming, among other things.
White is just a straight up rock drummer, while Bruford's jazz flavoring added an edge to the first 5 records that was lost with his departure.
That being said, I love Tales from Topographic Oceans and Relayer, because at that point, the music became more moody, and White's drumming fit those songs perfectly.
@drunksingsheep The best thing about YES is that there are so many versions of the band. You don't often hear any discussion on the later stuff though. The Ladder, keystudio, magnification,....there's some good stuff there too. Bill's drumming is unmatched but Chris and Alan are so solid together. The later albums really catch that.
@drunksingsheep I agree being a drummer myself Yes w/Bruford was the best combination I left Yes as a fan right after Bruford left, tried to absord the new drummer (Alan White) it never happened.good luck
i just turned 20 this sunday, yet Yes has been one of my favorite bands for years! so its glad to see someone else thats young and likes Yes too! i actually have most of their whole "classic" discography on vinyl, or at least every album starting from "the yes album" to "90125". have 4 of wakeman's solo albums on vinyl too! i guess i just cant get enough! :D but i wonder if its overdoing when you have 3 copies of close to the edge on wax. but hey, I JUST CANT GET ENOUGH YES!!
Cool :) Nice to see someone even younger than me liking Yes;) I have all their albums on CD and a few on vinyl. Hopefully they will tour once more with Jon Anderson, because without him, it's not really Yes according to me... But I'm afraid it won't happen again...
oh well i agree with you on that no doubt! heck, i don't think its really Yes without all of em'. but then again, i doubt that will happen... but that's ok cause i can still listen to them all i can and want from when they were awesome (not that they aren't now, but "owner of a lonely heart" is NOT the Yes i fell in love with) haha. ah, but ya gotta love em anyway! hahaha
