I think there's a much simpler explanation for these statistics. I can't cite the exact poll, but I recall seeing a dating site compare men and women by age answering agree or disagree to the statement "I believe my best years are ahead of me". The vast majority of 18 year old men answer yes, and in their 30's almost none do. For women, very few 18 year olds answer yes, but more than 50% answer yes in the early 30's. Basically there's an attitude mismatch between men and women by age.
I think it boils down to the abnormal expectations we set up for ourselves. I don't think that goes just for women. Men expect wifey to look like they just stepped out of a magazine every morning, only smell like a rose, be smiling, quiet, and sweet all the time too. Then they stray when the wifey aint looking so perfect and excitment fades 5 years later. Then there's the kid thing. Who wants to do it the morning after being up all night with a baby crying. False beliefs on both sides.
If men are dumb enough to get married in the first place, then they dont get the right to complain. They know the statistics, they how other males get fucked during divorce proceedings. However, there is far greater social pressure for males to be in a relationship than it is for women. SO they settle for shit, and then they cant believe that it all went to shit. Women will dump a man if he doesnt have a stable job, while at the same time many men will support their deadbeat wives for decades.
I think the problem with relationships is a way to high expectation of what a relationship should be. I've seen allot of people that think it all should be sunshine and roses every single minute of every single day all the time and it's simply not that way. I was the one doing most of the compromising & it often wasn't a two way street in return, in fact sometimes an opposing street. I ended up resenting it & getting frustrated, so I finished it. There aren't really any deep secrets to making a relationship work- just mutual respect, reasonable compromise by both, caring about them & not treating your partner in a way you wouldn’t want to be treated.

I think there's a much simpler explanation for these statistics. I can't cite the exact poll, but I recall seeing a dating site compare men and women by age answering agree or disagree to the statement "I believe my best years are ahead of me". The vast majority of 18 year old men answer yes, and in their 30's almost none do. For women, very few 18 year olds answer yes, but more than 50% answer yes in the early 30's. Basically there's an attitude mismatch between men and women by age.

I think it boils down to the abnormal expectations we set up for ourselves. I don't think that goes just for women. Men expect wifey to look like they just stepped out of a magazine every morning, only smell like a rose, be smiling, quiet, and sweet all the time too. Then they stray when the wifey aint looking so perfect and excitment fades 5 years later. Then there's the kid thing. Who wants to do it the morning after being up all night with a baby crying. If men are dumb enough to get married in the first place, then they dont get the right to complain. They know the statistics, they how other males get fucked during divorce proceedings. However, there is far greater social pressure for males to be in a relationship than it is for women. SO they settle for shit, and then they cant believe that it all went to shit. Women will dump a man if he doesnt have a stable job, while at the same time many men will support their deadbeat wives for decades.

I think the problem with relationships is a way to high expectation of what a relationship should be. I've seen allot of people that think it all should be sunshine and roses every single minute of every single day all the time and it's simply not that way. And no matter how long a relationship is you will have bad days and very good days. I think you shouldn't 'settle' though.

I was the one doing most of the compromising & it often wasn't a two way street in return, in fact sometimes an opposing street. I ended up resenting it & getting frustrated, so I finished it. There aren't really any deep secrets to making a relationship work- just mutual respect, reasonable compromise by both, caring about them & not treating your partner in a way you wouldn’t want to be treated.

People always talk about who is more dishonest in relationships and who's responsible for the break ups in them, when really, what everybody fails to realize is that it doesn't matter who's worse than whom. The fact is that all the dishonesty going on is what destroys those marriages.
Perhaps if people stopped pointing fingers all the time and actually worked on maintaining their own integrity, their partners wouldn't have as much to complain about.

I can't find evidence of that. I found a London Museum Science poll that found that the opposite was true: men lie an average of three times a day, women twice. Either way, both sexes lie a lot. If one statistic is under-rated, chances are the other one is too.

This is old news, I read a report back in 2000 about this. Granted it was on dating, but it was simply that in a relationship, about 60+% of the time, the women is the one to end it. I know we always think of the man as being the one becuase of movies of girls crying, but truth is women do it more. So why would it be surprising that marriage and divorce would be any different.
