  • great tune, love listening to it, Julies also a honey :D

  • Very good

  • A fantastic band that deserved more success. I bought the DVD and play it every Christmas Day

  • I've just bought the live DVD. My friend Louise B.B. saw the band in Scarborough all those years ago - one of the lucky few.

  • Love it. Wish I could get it on itunes

  • This was one of my favourite songs of the 80's and great to find it on here as my copy of it on cassette was lost years ago!!!

  • Hi everybody again,

Just to let you know that my album will be released on itunes in May.

Lots of love Julie Hadwen xx

  • Hi everybody, Message from Julie Hadwen to all, thanks for all your support, Just to let you know my solo album Sanctuary will be available on itunes in a couple of weeks, God bless, Love Julie xx

  • Any chance someone can post the B side of this single. A song called Miss my Baby is equally as impressive.

  • The name of this song just popped into my head as I looked at a few tunes , so glad I looked it up excellent...takes me back a bit ...thanks

  • Wot a tune thought I was the only one who bought the 7 inch single from woolies .Brilliant song.

  • no no, me too and I still have it with my half a ticket stub inside! was only 14!!

  • An absolutely brilliant song from an underrated band. Julie Hadwen has an excellent voice and I agree that she should have gone on to further commercial success, whether solo or with another band. She has one of the best female voices in the history of pop, and there is some tough competition. Moving Heaven and Earth is another great BSA song which showcases the band's talent and Julie's singing. Pop is littered with great talent which never reached the wider audience it deserved. Very sad.

  • Hadwen what an amazing voice ! should be a house hold name now . She recorded an acoustic album Sanctuary in 1994 it never came out sadly . it contains an amazing song called You ask of me there earth , she had a myspace page

  • I used to like this group, I found out the bloke (Tony) couldn't actually sing, because he was merely a robot.

  • I played sax with this Band, it was a blast, great live and recorded well to boot. A tour backing the Kane gang then UK one on our own. Recorded with Robin Miller from Sade fame and Greg Walsh (Heavan 17 producer). we used to play a club behind Berkley Square I think it was called the Titanic. I am still in touch with Kevin white trumpet and Frank Seago trombone and Steve Martinez drums

  • What is Kevin White doing these days?

  • saw them must have been around 1984 at the New Ocean Club cardiff fantastic. also liked acraze at the time another band on Paul wellers Respond label.

  • good posting, a great live act . cheers

  • nice track

  • Nice to see this up-I used to know Julie in my early mod days.Lovely girl.Anyone k now where she is nowadays?

  • brings back memories of the 80's what a great time that was growning up i want a time machine

  • Remember this well, what happened to them?.

  • bought this single, never thought i would ever hear this again,i really thouht that this band was the dogs bollo*** ,shame cos they should have been given a lot more credit for their work.A lot of happy memories thanks to all those who posted this on here

  • Magic.

  • Great memories. I was rather fond of Julie and remember going to see them at Bristol Polytechnic, and Julie had cut her hair short! I was very disappointed!

  • EARLIEST childhood memories

never thought i'd hear this again in my entire life

  • many thanks for posting this, I'm in the process of moving vinyl to PC and i'd forgotten how good BSA were/are, awesome. Julie's voice is amazing and it brings back great memories, these guys should have been huge!

  • Ace

  • just can't stop watching this. reunion gigs? i'll be there if so.

  • i am so proud that my dad was part of this (trombone player frank). it is a little surreal looking at him and all the guys 22 years on though!

  • You have to know: your dad was a great player and he was so luck to perform with BSA!! In the 80s his instrument was real brass and he played in a masterly manner. In Italy, I still remember that line-up! Dear greetings to your father...

  • superb posting and good to read all the info as i only have an ex jukebox single with no picture sleeve and the centre missing. i assume julie is still singing?, hope so, great voices should be heard.

  • Hi yes Julie is still around and singing, she replyed on here somewhere near the first reply page look her up!

  • I am new to You Tube and thought I was the only person who remembered this song. It was given bad reviews by the music press but my opinion is enjoy what you like otherwise where would be?

  • woo the guy in the suit looks strangely like Aled Jones!

  • Rumpio

I thought the same just watching - he definitely looks like Aled Jones!

  • This track was a good first hit, but I prefered Bad Town.

  • They were originally called The Directions, a new mod band that played at The Greyhound Pub in Fulham Palace Road in the late 70's. They had some releases on Rough Trade I think.

  • Yes three of us were in the Directions, the vocalist John was Tony's brother and was never in BSA.

Nothing was ever released on rough trade we had our own label within MCA called source, but we did have a track History of the world on Paul Weller's respond label.

Great to see so much interest and fantastic compliments after all these years .A Cd release would be good, not sure if we would make any dosh from it though

  • check out juliehadwen on my space, choose profile for her soul/folk mini album

  • where's julie's my space address? bsa !!!!

  • can't find this on my space! help sounds interesting

  • refering to juliehadwen on my space

  • Go to myspace website, type Julie Hadwen in search under "people" tab not "myspace". Hope this helps.

  • Got it...Recommend everyone checking it out - really distinctive vocals from Julie.. Awesome...

  • Julie, I love you! You're very exotic looking....where are your parents/grandparents originally from?

  • did these guys record one track for wellers respond label in the 80s?

  • Yeah, it was called "History of the World" and was on the Respond compilation album 'Love the Reason'. Top track!

  • BSA weren't great but they were sometimes very very good and the singer, Julie Hadwin ,had a powerful and original voice. Does anyone know if she recorded on her own or with another band?

  • Maybe they weren't a great but they never got anywhere near the recognition they deserved. I've seen hundreds of live bands and this lot are one of the tightest ever. As for Julie, she'll probably remember me as I swear she fancied me... or maybe that was the wishful thinking of a 16 y.o. with raging hormones?!?!

  • I've been waiting for someone to post a BSA video! Used to go and watch them with my mates when we were still at school! 100 club was our favourite. Cheap beer out of plastic glasses, dancing at the front and freezing your nuts off getting home coz you were drenched in sweat! The good ol' days!

  • This video was first shown on Channel 4's "The Tube" one Friday eveing way back when! like most of these things were back in the 80's!

  • Thank you! Thank you for posting this video. I was a huge fan of theirs in the eighties and I was at this gig. It was truly a night to remember.

  • I had forgotten just how good this lot were.

I remember seeing a concert of theirs on " Mike Mansfield presents " on LWT years ago.

This should DEFINATELY be re released.

  • I recently re-discovered my albumn....never felt they got the recognition...would be good to see a tour - everyone else is doing it..and a cd release

  • An absolute fucking classic. BTW: If anyone is looking for a BSA fix...a live DVD was released a couple of years ago...it's still available and was relased in both the USA and UK. This clip is pulled from that DVD. The studio album...An Inward Revolution...never did their sound justice.

  • This clip is NOT! from the recent DVD! but is from the same concert footage from my own achive VHS video tape bought back in 1985!! this clip was also show on the Tube back in 1985 as well!

  • I'd forgotten quite how good this was. I can't believe I haven't seen it on VH1 etc or heard it on the radio for the best part of 20 years. It's dying for a re-release or at worst a cover version to make these guys a few well-earned quid

  • Yes Good idea that would be fun! love this track even though if you think about it, it does sound so much like Paul Wellers Style Council

  • It's about time their album got a cd release.

  • I love this song and have been regularly searching for it, Thanks for posting, you've cheered me up on a rainy monday night.

  • A sweet slice of nostalgia... those heady days of yesteryear when music was music, ah bliss....

  • Hi Birdland - thanks for posting this vid. The Big Sound Authority were from Shepherd's Bush.

  • Hi

But, Julie came from Watford, and i should know she's my sister :-)

  • Yes, but as a whole, they were a Shepherd's Bush outfit.I should know, I know Tony (the other main singer and band leader) quite well.:-)

  • Sorry, yes i know they did, strange how much the world has changed since back then, being nearly 40 myself, the internet still phases me :-)

  • I think we should start a 'Reform the Big Sound' campaign.Any ideas???

  • Andy sent me copy.....(his only name is, Andy)! Thank you Andy!!! (Proof that there's normal people on the t'internet!) Once again, cheers Andy!!!!

  • I looked this video ages ago....but to no avail.Me and my mate sing this song all the time in her car....she dosn't actually own a copy of the song...we just love it! My brother has it on 45, vinyl. Please send us a cd!!! We'll pay!!!

  • great singing, fine band too. perhaps you should update your profile: it says that you are 40 but you look more than 10 years younger than that.

  • Hi Yes Iam 40! luckerly for me I've always looked alot younger than my actual age must be good Genes from my parents etc, and good diet etc etc I remember being in New York when I was 35 and being asking if I was over 21 so I get a beer! lol!

  • Not sure if i've managed to send this or not, in answer to where and what are we doing, I'm up in Hemel Hempstead, just started a new business in debt consultancy, and Julie is back in Watford. Curious, who is this? Cheers Dinah
