I have a set of 5500's and love them, BUT I hate the 99 only limitation per playlist. If I'd known about this I would not have purchased them. It's caused me days of rearranging and is just a big headache. Does anyone know of any kind of fix via firmware to get rid of this 99 limit ??

Hey Jon picked up a 5500-w- a 250 GB hard drive and one DN-HS5000 to cover cds and scratching. All bases covered. Still have a lot of features to master lol. Thanks for the vids they helped make my decision.
Hey Johnathon, I'm thinking one of these with the cd drive and one with the hard drive, link both together via the d-link throw in a decent dj mixer and this would be the bomb! What do you think?
amazon has a sell on these for 450 each, so if i were you, ide defidently get them. they are excelent midi controllers..except!!! dont use it with serato itch. if ur using virtural dj or any other program. then go for it these.
Can anyone suggest me a CD player like this for a beginner. Should i get 2 of the DN-S3700 or 1 of the DN-HS5500. I'm planning to have the Rane TT5 SL mixer.
Two decks is pretty cool. What happens if you play a track on deck 1, switch to deck 2, change the pitch slider down to say -5% to match the tempo, and switch back to deck 1? Now if I move the pitch down another 1 percent, will track 1's pitch be at -1% or -6%?
The pitch from the first layer stays locked until you switch back to that layer, and it will only adjust again once you move the pitch slider back to the original setting (the setting it was at before you switched layers).
Few days ago Denon DJ published new firmware - number 1300 for Denon DN-HS5500! I already have this update installed on my DN-HS5500 and I'm glad, because it fixes whole bunch of glitchs!
thanks for the video. i just bought a pair of these and the part that took me the longest to get them going was the fact that you have to format your drive as fat32... haha. and you can do this on the unit itself by going to the util. these players are so damn nice... so much more improvising and versatility available.. being able to beatmix while scratching in another song on the other one if you do have 2 of them and a 4channl mixer
I have this player and what I can say is that you must keep updating firmware, because there was few glitches.
For example: before firmware version 1200 there was not possible to keep music playing after stutter play just by pressing play button while holding down cue button (as stutter); problems with platter movement.
It would be not nice to meet such bad surprises while performing set to the public.
DN-HS5500 is manufactured in almost the same chasis, that DN-S3500 (CD, CD-MP3 player) -
you can find the same buttons, but DN-HS-5500 does not have build in sampler feature (DN-S3500 has this feature). It's because in DN-HS5500 buttons in top left corner are used as control to switch betwen deck 1 and deck 2 (layer button) and to switch display one deck view or two decks view in the same time.
Also DN-HS5500 has only 2 hot starts (the same as DN-S3500) and it seems, when you meke loop, you can't then make half, quarter, etc... of the loop by just pressing a button.
You can trim A or B loop point, but this way is not the same as just getting half, quarter, etc... of the loop.
Next thing is that there are no CD drive inside of the unit. And optional CD drive - BU5501 - will be available in near future - Denon said: "this month". This will be slim type drive, so... maybe there will be problems with CD reading speed or shockproof. Additionally Denon declares, that this player will be not able to read CD-MP3...
Instead of CD drive you can mount inside of the DN-HS5500 a hard drive caddy - BU5502 - and hard drive (after software update - up to 250 GB HDD PATA type).
And something about price: I have seen new DN-HS5500 on A M A Z O N for about 800$ on US. But remember that if you need CD drive (BU5501), than you have to pay extra (I think even about 200$). The same with hard drive and hard drive caddy (BU5502): it's optional.
thats a pretty great peace of kit so how much does it coast anyway ? more than a pioneer CDj 1000mk3? and for people who already have it or had it is it strong does it last long or does it break fast?
what I ment 2 say is that u could play 4 tracks at the same time. but u would neet a 4 chanel mixer 'cause I've seen the clip on how 2 conect the player and it uses 2 chanels. THIS IS WHAT I THINK, I'M NOT AN EXPERT
what is the difference between an mp3 and a cd. They are both digital. I don't see the difference in selecting a song off a hard drive vs off a cd. The 5500 provides a system where you control songs off a hard drive the same as you would songs off a cd.
Vinyl is a different story. Since it comes from an anologue source.
Yeap This Gear Has a lot of Features that need some curiosity and creativity. What everyone does is compare that with a Pioneer 1000Mk3, But to be just... is a never ending STORY, is a matter of what you like to do with a deck a how much you want to spend to look cool :-D
Do you know what small feature pleases me allot? it's the blue light on the left and right of the screen that shines up the controls on the deck you are working with. Do you know the 2 lights I mean. Small things please small minds.
Nice piece of kit j..........what do you think the market is as you said one of these and a mixer,,,or as an add on to your other 2 decks....or 2 of these giving in theory 4 decks to play with.....? j
you can plug in a keyboard and search more easily!!! i will be givin tutorials on this too! i mean this player is the best i've ever seen. in my eyes the cdj-1000 its just a toy in front of this... denon is so professional!
It cut off, you forgot practise and enjoy! I remember you once making a video with a shout out to someone who reminded you of practise and enjoy. Haha.

There are some things that i miss?
1: When I do a hot list I can't get the hot list to play continuisly with fader, thats strange, it works with other playlists?
2: Why can't it match BMP of the oposite player? Would be preaty easy to do?
3: I find the BPM counter litle to slow, takes a while before you know what bpm the song has.
But it works daam good with Virtual DJ, the latancy is preaty low. And vdj starts as fast as regular player like cdj-400. So that is cool.

Yes, you can shorten the loop. Use the echo loop instead, then you can do it with the Parameters" knob.
