Full side effects are not disclosed. Mirena will cause cystic acne,increased facial hair, decreased estrogen levels, joint pain, fatigue, dizziness, anxiety, depression, mood disorder, decreased libido, mental cloudiness, clumsiness, speech problems, shortness of breath & palpitations while at rest......to name a few. If you contact your GYN, they will tell you the side effects you are experiencing are not those of MIrena. You may be prescribed more medication with worse side effects.....

I have to say, I had a TERRIBLE experience with the Mirena IUD. The worst pain of my life, was the moment it was inserted. I bled, screamed, cried my eyes out, and couldn't get off the hospital bed for almost an hour. I was in intense pain for 2 weeks and still in pretty bad pain for a pain following. It's 4 months later now, and I'm scheduled to take it out. It is not for everyone.

I hope everyone is aware that this is an actress paid to appear in a commercial. She didn't write the line "move....to Memphis," nor did she edit the commercial (creating that pause), nor did she place snow in the ad. So blaming her for these things doesn't make a lot of sense.

Yes! I'm 19 with no children & I have mirena. It's great. I hate how the commercial says that candidates have had a child. Insertion may be more difficult if you don't have a child because your cervix will be a bit more stubborn, but that's the only real difference. It's a shame that so many younger girls who generally are not married & don't have the income to take care of a child are not aware that they can get IUDs, since they are extremely reliable (more effective than a tubal litigation)!

I realize they're not targeting women who are having trouble conceiving, but it's kind of insensitive to those women when the woman in this commercial is so "laudy da, I have 3 kids, I get to do all this stuff, vacations, skiing, etc. and then Oh, I think I'll have another baby.. and Boom, there's the baby my life is perfect".

The woman in the ad is named Caroline, and she is one of the nicest people I know. We were in a local film production many years ago and I knew she was going to be a great actress someday. She actually planned on becoming a doctor, but couldn't quite shake the acting bug. She spends more of her time doing live theater these days.
