@R0cKs0l1dd Well, attacks don't tend to have the same power-levels or statistics in the anime as they do in the games (Fire Spin kept its nature as a super-powerful move even after the game made it a multi-hitted), so it mightn't be too bad.

More importantly, the anime goes back and forth between whether the 4-move limit REALLY exists or not - while Pikachu often has just 4 moves, some one-off or guest-star-trainers have a Pokemon with 5+ moves used in the same episode.

On a unrelated note, has anyone realized that Ash is playing along the games? Ex: In D/P/Pl, Ash battled the Gym Leaders in Diamond and Pearl's order (As Fantina's skipping her Gym Duties to do Contests). Now he's playing along with Black: Mandibuzz managed to get TWO appearences in contrast to Braviary's one, Drayden's presumably the Gym Leader (unless Iris does a Misty revealation)...

@XXRebeccaPokemonXX Maybe... not sure. If the opening two-parter is any indication, Ash might be Zekrom's chosen hero (which only happens in White).

I think it's more just how they decided to script the series and individual episodes, so you shouldn't compare it TOO much to the games. I mean, for all we know, Iris will be the PKMN "Grey" 8th Gym Leader and Drayden Champion or something (they did it with Wallace/Juan). Given Iris only has ONE dragon in the anime, though...

Huh... pretty annoying how they INSIST that everyone in the anime MUST have started at age 10 or else there's something seriously wrong (like with Bianca). On the other hand, Cheren and White/Black might make cameos (or even full appearances), so we'll see, huh?

Not that I HATE Trip (I've even found a logical conclusion why Ash lost their 5-on-5 battle so badly). but they could've done just as well without him.

@SnivyShadow666 I think in the anime, levels are more like fitness, and drop more when you're being lazy.

First, the original battle with Trip:

Ash was overconfident, most likely after his performance against Tobias. He was so sure Trip couldn't possibly beat Pikachu in their first fight, and demoralised when Pikachu's electric attacks weren't available. It caught him off, and he wasn't as sharp as usual. Not to mention Trip's implied to be a good strategist for his age.

Ash puts down his loss to JUST Zekrom, when he could've still beaten Trip had he taken him seriously from the start.

This makes him lose Oshawott and Tepig to Trip's Tranquil (which had a special ability for critical hits), instead of thinking on his feet for unexpected surprised. And while Pikachu beat Tranquil, it lost again to Servine partly because of overconfidence and Ash not being prepared for surprises (cue Frillish's ability).

@SnivyShadow666 As both the Burgh and Elesa battles show, Pikachu's NOT been downgraded in power. However, Ash's Unova 'mons likely WERE all weaker than Trip's at the time - because Trip's obviously one of those 'strength-obsessed' sorts, he's trained them hard, not to mention his tactical stills.

Being more skilled means nothing if you're both unprepared AND worn out (not to mention the type advantage, and that Servine's speed rivals Pikachu's). 3rd battle, no Pikachu, and TIE.

Actually, Roggenrola/Boldore didn't faint from Horn Drill because of its special ability, "Sturdy" - it prevents 1-hit-KOs from being possible on said Pokemon.

I would like Ash to have a Samurott by the league. (Emboar and Serperior will be a given regarding Charizard, Infernape, Sceptile, and Torterra). I'm not sure about this being the last region, but this jsplayground person suggested a timeskip (maybe with Ash as a gym leader with a son). They could pick up a story of him trying to find his dad. And why not do an animated adaptation of Pokémon Adventures/Special?

Fucking loved this episode too, easily one of my favourite gym matches ever. Everyone got to kick ass, great music, epic evolution, just greatness all round. Also, I think they will evolve Oshawott all the way since Bianca will have Emboar(most likely) and Trip will have Serperior. +He's got so much attention that he must be the starring starter. It doesn't really mean anything that Tepig evolves first, Chimchar evolved late as fuck but still was the main star.

@TheEvilRohanite Good point, and while they're at it, why not give the spotlight to a water-type for once? (after all, Ash's Sceptile was his main Advanced Gen. battler). Consider how none of the Water-starters in the main characters' parties have EVER evolved all the way - plus, Ash's Kingler is his only water-type which EVER evolved.

If Oshawott becomes the Unova region's Piplup, I will be PISSED!

This was a great episode. This is were the anime shines, the Pokemon battles and I always love it when Ash plays it smart, since I neutral when it comes that character. Then Clay had to go in say that his battling style is wrong. XD

Glad to see that Roggenrolla evolve and it was well done. In terms of later evolution...

I'm I the only one who is sick of Ash's fire type evolving. I mean save Quilava, all of Ash's fire types are fully evolved. I want to see my Otter Samurai, Dewott damn it. =/

@DeSoulWolf You're not the only one. Why must all of Ash's Fire types hog the spotlight? Though thankfully, Torkoal and Quilava WEREN'T glory-hogs.

It's especially stupid considering this is the first time the Fire-type ISN'T the most popular for CERTAIN. It's possible he'll stay a Pignite while we get Samurott (much later), but we'll see.

Course, Tepig might - as Emboar - become Unova's version of Torterra (losing just to prove how strong the others are), but we'll see.

Roggenrola evolving was beast and the clash between him and Excadrill at the end was manly. ROCK SMASH FTW!

With the new ending I was surprise to see that tepig is going to be the first of the starters to evolve.I was always thinking that snivy was going to evolve first because she seemed more developed and has a strong moveset for a grass type.

The Gym Battle was pretty darn good. I enjoyed it for the most part, except for the facts that:

1. Rapid Spin & Horn Drill were oddly done by Excadrill in terms of physics(that irks me for the Pokemon Anime)

2. Snivy beating Palpitoad seemed too easy in my opinion

Still, Roggenrola evolving was cool, and I liked how they fixed Sandstorm to work more like the game mechanics. And yea, I agree, they should show the other rivals more.
