GREAT acting job by Peter Falk and I though especially by Virginia Vincent! I looked her up on IMDB after seeing this and she did LOTS of television work and some fairly big films, working right up through the 80's.....
This episode was directed by Stuart Rosenberg, who a short time earlier had cast Peter Falk as hitman Abe Reles in the film MURDER, INC., which garnered Falk an Oscar nomination. Perhaps Rosenberg was responsible for casting Falk here.
"In this corner, Lt. Columbo,Thomas, Mitchell, Prescription Murder, stage 1962! In the opposite corner Lt. Columbo, Peter Falk, Prescription Murder, TV 1968!"
It is great to see Peter Falk's work before "Columbo."
I think "The Untouchables" was criticized for allowing the criminals to be the better developed characters and the team, other than Ness, had little to do except the legwork and the shoot out.
They were brutally honest about the criminals: they were killers and murdered whenever they thought they had to -- which was always.
