I also had problems with the ice maker in my LG fridge, it finally got corrected but after 4 service calls. Now I'm having problems with water pressure from same fridge. Buy another brand!
I have the same fridge. When you dispense ice the small ice door will remain open for approx. 5 seconds after you use it. It should close on its own. But often it remains open which lets cold air out and warm air in. This causes the ice to melt together. LG replaced the complete left door on the fridge..Problem is solved.
Wow, consumer reports rates them well, but I see what I see. Thanks for the video! I will definately shop around now ;) -sorry for your trouble, but you did a real service to people like me looking around.
AT LEAST YOU CAN USE YOUR ICE. I HAD A DARK LINE ON THE INSIDE (UNREACHABLE AREA) OF THE FRONT PLASTIC PIECE FIRST SHELF. AND NOTICED AN ODOR REPAIRMAN SAID POOR QUALITY PLASTIC. CO. SAID NOT THEIR PROBLEM. I WORRIED MOLD, BROKE APART PIECE AND THERE WAS MOLD. CO. WOULD NOT COME SEE. CLEAN W/ CLOROX IS IN PLASTIC COMES BACK EVERY FEW WEEKS. CAME WITH THE FRIDGE IS NOT A PLACE THAT CAN B REACHED. NOW ODOR IN ICE UNABLE TO USE. BUYER B-WARE
The man at Home Depot steered me to LG. It looks good but it is pure junk. The only winner is the repairman who keeps billing the Warranty company for the repairs on my clunker. But in 2 years those repairs will fall on me.
@aathavan1234 Dude... seriously, when was the first and last time you shopped at BB? Oh wait... you probably run to the game section and then straight to the counter and out. Check your self first, a l w a y s
@aathavan1234 Just because you get tunnel vision and go straight to buy your Lady Ca Ca cd's, you don't notice Best Buy has an appliance section. Douchebag!!!
Not only have I had severe ice maker problems (my LG fridge dumps them on the floor), but the temperature control module melted down from the roof of the fridge and torched the light sockets. Because the until was a month out of warranty, LG only replaced the plastic housing but did not update the design-flawed electronics unit. The unit has melted down again, and now I have no internal lights. LG refuses to talk with me about the issues.
Read the consumer reports. LG is not the top of the heap. Also, the retard squad cannot fix anything. Stick with sears. They price match Worst Buy and service their stuff and they are better than most.
Same goes for my experience with LG. Will not make ice, it took (and is now six weeks) 4 trips. Still not repaired, this is third panel replace. Avoid LG if you care about how money is spent or is wasted. What you spend on LG is both, spent and wasted. Avoid LG. Hope I can get video put here to help others before its too late. Thanks Nationdog for really sound advice and great vid. LG is crap folks, avoid with all due caution. Wasted money.
Hey giounds, if you had read the string you would have seen that I had SIX (6) service calls all in an attempt to "get it fixed". The LG people just cannot fix it so I have had to just accept a poor product design. I am open to any suggestions you may have since you seem to have a strong opinion. Have a nice day.
Never buy a refrigerator with an ice-maker. They all break and leak, and they cause thousands of dollars in damages to the kitchen floors. GE refrigerators have the same problem. My friends GE ice-maker leaked while she was away on vacation. Her brand new kitchen floor, and subfloor had to be ripped up and replaced. The whole kitchen floor and part of the lower walls were covered in mold. They were away for one week.
Am I happy? No, not at all. It was a $3000 refrigerator and I was sold on the quality and I feel like I should not have to deal with these pesky problems, especially after 6 service calls.
@nationdog personlly a believe that is not big of a deal, when you return your fridge to your store, you allow me to buy it for 200-400$ and fix it 100% for nearly 90% cheaper than the original price
This was adding to the lack of feeding through the dispenser because of the size of the bridged cubes.
I have also found that if you switch from cube to crushed, run it for 5 to 10 seconds, and then back to cube it will vastly improve the dispensing of cubes.
Sorry for the delay. I cannot say that it has been fixed. I will say that an actual "LG" service technician was the last to work on it and it does perform better than after the Geek Squad people attempted earlier. It is (I believe) a poor design. The LG tech reduced the water pressure coming into the refrigerator from the wall. He simply tightened the valve a little and explained to me that too much water pressure can cause ice bridging (Ice cubes stuck together in a row).
I also had the problem...will never purchase an lg fridge again.

It looks like the ice isn't breaking up after it freezes. I would guess the tray that creates the ice is badly designed.
