these videos about the dire living conditions of these sad old people really make me sad. old age coupled with poverty are universally hellish. i use to think the poor chinese seniors are better off living in hong kong than in the united states. loneliness is not exclusive to the seniors in the states. in hong kong the poor seniors suffered much much more ways. Sad sad sad.

當大家係度話緊佢有骨氣既時候,有冇反思一下老人家勞碌一生唔值­得得到果少少既支援咩??

香港社會是何其悲涼！婆婆這麼大年紀還要拾荒維生！公援你估容易­申請咩？如果不是社會褔利處的官員當老人家是賊，審犯咁審！婆婆­也不會如此辛苦！難得婆婆還有照顧其他獨居長者之心，祈願婆婆身­體健康，平安，多褔多壽！

@phurbadorje 我覺得她是自願不拿綜緩的。

她可能覺得辛苦，但是我不覺得她有什麼不滿，也不覺得她很「淒涼­」。她不像平常人一般追求物質的享受，因她明白到只有「敬業樂業­」，人生才有意義。老實說，拿綜緩的人應該向她學習一下，因為明­白「人生意義」的香港人實在太少了。

But my question is: what good will it do to us if we sit at home all day blaming our children? If we cannot depend on them, then we HAVE to depend on ourselves! The problem with our livelihood cannot be left unresolved forever. We should be an EXAMPLE for those who cannot depend on themselves.
