Thnx for this video I as well am living with AS, I have a teenage daughter who it is tearing up seeing me in pain everyday. This is an inspiring video!
Hello all. My name is Joshua Burris and ive been a sufferer of AS for about two years now. Ive been through the pain, the doctors visits and the medicines and its all complete bullshit. Doctors keep you ignorant to the fact that there is a way to put this disease into remission. I bought a book that has changed my life and i wanted to spread the word. Its a book that will endow you with the knowledge to put your AS into remission. The authors name is Joel Godin.
I was diagnosed with this disease when i was 9 years old, along with RND. Reflex Neurovascualr Dystrophy. Im now 21 and know first hand the affects of this condition. Thanks for a making a video describing it. People rarely believe that someone my age can have a form of arthritis so its nice to be able to tell them go youtube it and see for yourself! :) Cheers x
Thankyou for this video, i am 26, they think i have AS, but they cant confirm anything as i havn't fused yet, but they think i am possibly getting this condition, i am also legally blind and find this condition with my back and joints very hard to cope with, but hope inthe future something can be done.. im pretty sure i have AS, we need to support one another and get through this together.
@wally1207 hey i am the same age as you, diagnosed with severe AS last year after spending years in pain i need a new hip at 26 but i am not phased there are medications out there that can help trust me i am on humira and it helps ALOT. This time last year i was in a dark place didn't know where to turn but stick at it we are a lot stronger than most people out there for putting up with this constant unrelenting pain day in day out. Now i have changed my view, i don't have AS, AS has me.
Thanks for the video!! I was diagnosed with AS 24 years ago. April is Anklylosing Spondylitis Awareness Month & April 8th is National AS Day.
I decided this year that I am going to make a post & change my profile pic on FaceBook everyday for the entire month of April!! If, I can educate even 1 person of this horrible disease we struggle to live with everyday, I will have reached my goal....Thanks again! I am using your video as my post for day!!! :0)
Hey I have AS aswell. I really didnt know there were so many of you out there!! Its nice to know im not alone. I used to take Vioxx and i was really sad to see it go. With the pain I feel I would much rather have a heart attack due to Vioxx than feel this pain. I have been taking Embril for about 2 years now and I love it. I have not noticed myself getting more sick than any other year. It works and lets you do your stretches and every day normal things. If you havnt tried it then try it. :-)
@jdesign918 - how did you know that you have an AS? Did you see a Rheumatologist for consultation?
is it available in the philippines. My symptoms is just the same with the others here... i'm scheduled for MRI scanning next week. I have so many questions to ask you... by the heres my email: normanjade@gmail.com

Aw man it makes me wanna cry to see people comments. I have had so much pain for about 15 years. The low grade fevers when feeling like my spine is gonna explode trying to turn over in bed is just horrible. I have paraesthetica too. I'm 35 and the pain in my hip is very soon gonna cost me the ability to work. You go past stress and depression in the end and just keep doing whatever you can till you can't do it anymore. Conventional NSA's don't work anymore, now on amiltripyline..........:(
Awesome. You made me feel better tonight with this song and video. I started having harsh pain in my shoulders 5 years ago and 7 months later was diagnosed with AS. I'm using Enbrel but am going to go after this with a diet change. Thanks for the great song.
So true, thank you. I've made a big difference with my AS. You got to do your own research and work with your doctors. Pain management is the key to keep on moving.
Diagnosed wit AS 3 months ago. I have been in constant pain for 15 years in my back and hips and had only 20% mobility in my neck and back when i was diagnosed. This may sound stupid but i was relieved when i found out i have AS because now i know what i'm fightin against. nothing worse dan being in pain and not knowin why.
Waiting to be admitted to a rheumatology rehabilition clinic soon to continue the fight coz i'll break my back before i'll let it seize up on me !!
Great vid and comments. I also suffer form AS since childhood. i was diagnosed 3 yrs ago at age 25. Losing my insurance however has caused me great suffering and I am forced to buy pain meds off the streets. I fear the pain in my hips will soon cost me the ability to work. I cry in pain as is when i work long days. Thoughts of suicide always creeping in. Watching this video and reading these comments reminds me I AM NOT ALONE. And gives me some hope. Thanx again
@Earth8ound8 You sure aren't alone! I've been in pain and ill since I was 15...I'm now 39. I was finally diagnosed at about 30 years old. These autoimmune diseases are tough. Nobody can see how much pain we're in. There's also the continuous low grade fevers, exhaustion, depression and weight loss at times. We are some of the toughest people around I think!! Keep fighting and I'll pray for you and all the people on here hurting with this disease!! AMEN!!
I can't stand up straight. And the pain is horrible, putting pressure on my right leg when i walk hurts, specially going up stairs. I took Remicade for 3 months and it really helped take my pain from a level 8 to a level 2. I also think it helped my posture due to lack of pain. I no longer can afford the treatments. Good luck everyone.
Great vid to raise awarness. I was diagnosed at 26years old after many years of suffering at least now I have something to blame for the extreme tirednss, anemia, pain!! Yoga helps alot but not looking forward to a life of anti-inflamatories. Good to know I am not alone, as many have no idea what we go through. KEEP STANDING TALL!!
Thank you for such an inspiring video! I was diagnosed back in 2003 at age 35 after many years of misery and not knowing what was going on - finally found a compassionate dr (rheum) who recognized it :) It hasn't been easy and I had to have a hip replacement at 37, but using Enbrel and moving around a lot has helped considerably. I try and keep a positive attitude about it and keep on going despite the pain, and videos like this make it even easier to cope. Thanks again!
I have had AS for 8 years. I took Indomethacin also. I found that there are many sides. Along with libido drop and Erectile dysfunction in some cases. I have tried Diclofenac and it did not help. I have tried Sulendac and no help. It may help with some of the inflammation at times, but I still hurt like a *&%#$! I know what your all goin through!
hello, i am suffering from AS for the past 12 years..since then i have been taking indomethacin as a std anti-inflamatory. i think i have developed side effects to this medicine as my alkaline phosphatase level is always high n i also noticed developing gynecomastia. is there any other drug that gives long time relief from pain or atleast a sustained relief without the above side effects. and also plz tell me what are the medications and precautions you guys are taking for this for this.thanks
Thanks everyone for viewing my video and and all your kind comments. You can make a video if you have windows movie maker already installed on your pc. It's really easy. Keep fighting & keep smiling x
I like your video! I wish I could make one so nice. As sucks, I have had the symptoms since I was 15 and got the DX at 38. No fun at all. Thanks for your video, lets keep punching!
I Just got diagnosed last month with AS. It has been a painful last year for me and I was misdiagnosed several times. I am looking for someone to talk to that is going through similar things. Kelly, 24
