No, since the notes are spread out more, it makes it easier to time your strumming.

If it was on normal mode, the notes would come down slower, but closer together, making timing difficult.

Same goes for DDR. A lot of people who play on Heavy or Challenging modes need to make the speed x2 or x4, so they can see the the notes more spread out.
