I bumped into one of Krainev's Mozart recordings by accident and was astonished. Exceptional touch with a balance of force and nuance; agility in the service of interpretation; depth of insight in what he communicates; profundity of emotion without sentimentality... - And his Chopin, indeed the best version I've heard to far. Thanks for posting!
VLADIMIR KRAINEV (1944-2011), pupil of Heinrich Neuhaus and winner of 1970 International Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow, passed away on April 29 after a long illness.
Sincere condolences to his wife Tatiana Tarasova, the well-known figure skating coach of so many olympic gold medallists.
Excellent rendition of this wonderful piece. I recently saved in my playlists a clip uploaded by my dear friend Partick of the enchanted Aimi playing this piece in absolutely astonishing fashion. That is certainly worth a look also.
Stunning! such powerful expression! - makes Chopin sound as immortal as his music is. (the big sound is great) the Scherzo's are big serious pieces when done right - and this is so very right. Thanks for posting - this is a real find.
