Compare that to the obssessive abusive relationship between Edward and Bella. Compare that to how Bella plays around with Jacob's feelings.

I read the Twilight series very quickly and enjoyed it on a basic level like you did. It's funny that you mention that only one person (that super minor character "Ilena?") dies in the ULTIMATE BATTLE in Breaking Dawn, cuz I use that as one of the multiple flaws when explaing to people why Twilight utterly fails on so many levels. Twilight employs the theme of "no consequences" since the main characters we actually maybe care about are seemingly invulnerable to any conflicts. HP wins

This is very true! Especially for character development. All of the characters really don't grow; they just stay the way they are. Now look at "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" one of the reasons for why I love that movie is simply for Draco Malfoy's character development. Ron and Hermione as well as Harry and Ginny set much better examples for love. They were close friends and faced danger side-by-side. One other thing that irks me about Twilight is how Bella is such a weak female lead!

I funking knew it... I knew that the reason why anyone with a brain would enjoy Twilight because in their opinion it's a fun and easy read. I have the same issue with Comic-books. There are some comic-book arcs that have nothing but characters fighting each other, and that to me is enjoyable. However there are well written comic-book story arcs that I enjoy for the in depth plot, and character arcs.

And it so not for little kids, my dad and my aunt in the FORTIES like it, my teenage cousins like it, my cousin in her twenties likes it! A good makes you cry, laugh, cheer, shout. Harry Potter does that. Twilight does not. Also, not a single main character dies in Twilight, that is bad. You can't be afraid to kill people off!

@MsIlovebooks While you can't be afraid to kill off characters there must also be a purpose behind it, you can't just go off and kill a character for the sake of dramatic shock value, hence why I have a problem with killing off some my characters in my stories, because Comic-book character deaths have drained my appreciation for character deaths and the point behind it to where I can't come up with a reason to kill off my characters.
When I was reading the Harry Potter series, I always thought that Harry and Hermione would get together, because it made the most sense to me. They have always stuck together, while Ron would go off some place. Edward/Bella...D8< Not so much, it's unhealthy and really everything about their relationship sickens me.

In twilight (i read) you don't see the battle. she writes out of the setting. Isn't Bella off in the mountains in a battle. doesn't bella faint before the battle take place in the first book. The battle didn't happen. Meyer never wrote a single battle.

Though I have to tell you the truth, Harry/Ginny is bad -_- I personally didn't see enough relationship development, it's actually one of the few mistakes I saw in JK's development, let's be honest here, the sixth book was the only one to address this, and although it was a millions times better than Eddie/Bell I feel it still lacked. Harry/Hermione would have been more credible, and I'm not even a shipper for that pairing.
@iRockYouRock67 I wasn't initially a big fan of the Ginny/Harry pairing, but given more time to think it through, I think it's the only one that makes sense. Ginny has spent enough time around Harry to get over hero-worshipping him and the relationship forms naturally out of friendship on his end. I think any other relationship would have had an imbalance of power as the woman involved would have been awed by the whole Harry Potter celebrity thing - just look at how dissatisfied Cho Chang was
@etimodnar Well that's your opinion, I still think Ginny felt this inclination towards him since he saved her in the chamber of secrets, which is very acceptable but it the end it ends up being hero worship anyway, JK never was clear enough so...
I also fell that the hectic, weird, harsh life Harry lived left him "wanting" something normal and soft, I just felt he married Ginny out of this feeling and because he wanted to be a Weasley, be part of the family.

I think J.K Rowling purposely didn't show Harry and Ginny much, so that you can imagine it yourself. Also, they were friends before they started dating.
@purplesheepify I'm very aware of that; in terms of J.K giving us something, the Harry/Ginny relationship was not to her usual standard, well, that's my personal opinion. I know he loves Hermione dearly, but they have more basis to a strong relationship than Ginny or Harry ever wished to have. The thing J.K. left for our imagination was the randy teenagers they were while alone in a corner.
There is not dept to their relationship, not the one required in the Potterverse.

I first started reading the book when I was 12, and not once did I even think about Harry/Hermione as a possible romantic pairing. Their relationship was simply shown as just this great friendship, with Hermione usually bossing Harry around like a motherly figure.

Edward somehow fell for Bella when he liked her smell and couldn't read her thoughts. Harry fell in love with Ginny after he got to know her as a person: her bravery, humor and individuality. And only described her as physically attractive after he fell for her other qualities.

I honestly couldnt agree with you more...I tried reading Twilight and i just couldnt finish it. It wasnt realistic and i couldnt visualize it. I reread HP recently too and it was like... wonderful! The characters were written beautifully and realistically, the plot was complex, yet held together and was all resolved by the end (over 7 books)... it just doesn't compare!

Rowling didn't nail any specific topic so the series is good at best. Meyer expresses the intricacies of Twilight through an array of techniques and Bella. You must not know what romance is!

And Meyer didn't reinvent romance. She superimposed teenager's feelings of insecurity, obsessive love etc in a vampire-werewolf storyline that has been done before and done better.
And Bella is NOT a strong character. She is insecure. She doesn't care about her family or friends. She is selfish & obsessive.

He loved her so much that after her death, he protected Harry putting his own life at peril. His love for lily surpassed the hatred he harbored for Harry's father who had made his life hell while at school.
Compare that to the obssessive abusive relationship between Edward and Bella. Compare that to how Bella plays around with Jacob's feelings.

I read the Twilight series very quickly and enjoyed it on a basic level like you did. It's funny that you mention that only one person (that super minor character "Ilena?") dies in the ULTIMATE BATTLE in Breaking Dawn, cuz I use that as one of the multiple flaws when explaing to people why Twilight utterly fails on so many levels. Twilight employs the theme of "no consequences" since the main characters we actually maybe care about are seemingly invulnerable to any conflicts. HP wins

This is very true! Especially for character development. All of the characters really don't grow; they just stay the way they are. Now look at "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" one of the reasons for why I love that movie is simply for Draco Malfoy's character development. Ron and Hermione as well as Harry and Ginny set much better examples for love. They were close friends and faced danger side-by-side. One other thing that irks me about Twilight is how Bella is such a weak female lead!

There are some comic-book arcs that have nothing but characters fighting each other, and that to me is enjoyable. However there are well written comic-book story arcs that I enjoy for the in depth plot, and character arcs.

And it so not for little kids, my dad and my aunt in the FORTIES like it, my teenage cousins like it, my cousin in her twenties likes it! A good makes you cry, laugh, cheer, shout. Harry Potter does that. Twilight does not. Also, not a single main character dies in Twilight, that is bad. You can't be afraid to kill people off!

@MsIlovebooks While you can't be afraid to kill off characters there must also be a purpose behind it, you can't just go off and kill a character for the sake of dramatic shock value, hence why I have a problem with killing off some my characters in my stories, because Comic-book character deaths have drained my appreciation for character deaths and the point behind it to where I can't come up with a reason to kill off my characters.

When I was reading the Harry Potter series, I always thought that Harry and Hermione would get together, because it made the most sense to me. In twilight (i read) you don't see the battle. she writes out of the setting. Isn't Bella off in the mountains in a battle. doesn't bella faint before the battle take place in the first book. The battle didn't happen. Meyer never wrote a single battle.

Though I have to tell you the truth, Harry/Ginny is bad -_- I personally didn't see enough relationship development, it's actually one of the few mistakes I saw in JK's development, let's be honest here, the sixth book was the only one to address this, and although it was a millions times better than Eddie/Bell I feel it still lacked. Harry/Hermione would have been more credible, and I'm not even a shipper for that pairing.

@iRockYouRock67 I wasn't initially a big fan of the Ginny/Harry pairing, but given more time to think it through, I think it's the only one that makes sense. Ginny has spent enough time around Harry to get over hero-worshipping him and the relationship forms naturally out of friendship on his end. I think any other relationship would have had an imbalance of power as the woman involved would have been awed by the whole Harry Potter celebrity thing - just look at how dissatisfied Cho Chang was

I also fell that the hectic, weird, harsh life Harry lived left him "wanting" something normal and soft, I just felt he married Ginny out of this feeling and because he wanted to be a Weasley, be part of the family.

@purplesheepify I'm very aware of that; in terms of J.K giving us something, the Harry/Ginny relationship was not to her usual standard, well, that's my personal opinion. I know he loves Hermione dearly, but they have more basis to a strong relationship than Ginny or Harry ever wished to have. The thing J.K. left for our imagination was the randy teenagers they were while alone in a corner.
There is not dept to their relationship, not the one required in the Potterverse.

I first started reading the book when I was 12, and not once did I even think about Harry/Hermione as a possible romantic pairing. Their relationship was simply shown as just this great friendship, with Hermione usually bossing Harry around like a motherly figure.

I honestly couldnt agree with you more...I tried reading Twilight and i just couldnt finish it. It wasnt realistic and i couldnt visualize it. While i read all the Harry Potter's i felt like the movie was playing in my head (before the movies acctually came out) and i fell in love with them so much im about to read them for my 3rd time and damn proud of it!! AND THE CHARACTERS SEEM REAL!!! Me and my friends talk about the minor characters of the series, and can actually see their personalities through the words and type. You can see the work she put into the books, they are complex, and have in depth meanings, and REAL values. What does Twilight have? Sparkles? Harry Potter has magic, and potions, ghosts, and characters living off the page (as she/you pointed out at 3:33 ) Cedric Diggory should of stayed dead. Harry Potter fans unite!

which is unhealthy and just disturbing!!!! Who wants a boyfriend who wants to EAT YOU!!! They knew each other for, what, two weeks before they fell madly in love with each other? Not to mention 3/4ths of that time they hated each other! Twilight is poorly written, has no plot I can see other than filler for breathing and saying how beautiful Edward was. On the great side, HARRY POTTER IS THE BEST BOOK SERIES I HAVE READ IN A LONG WHILE, (continued above)

Thank you for putting this video up and presenting yourself in an understanding and calm manner (you are much more patient then I, fore I would be screaming at the camera three minutes in) Finally someone points out the obviously glaring points that make Twilight poorly written and a mediocre wet dream, that teaches young girls (at least younger than my 14 years) that almost abusive relationships, throwing yourself at a guy, and danger are the best things about a relationship (continued above)

Action. Romance. Hormones. Character Deph. Few Mary Sues -if any- And at the same time there's tons realistic situations. The characters grow and mature.
Twilight has... sex appeal. breathing.. poorly fabricated action.. that's about it.
I read the series for Alice and Jasper.
Nothing. No origins or anything.

I know I just commented in here, but I just came up with something.There are actual points to state that HP is in a higher level.
HP has its own theme park. Does twilight?NO
There are bands named after harry potter, (they may not be that good, well i have never heard them) but I haven't noticed any band named after twilight.
and so much more point I just need space to write somethin else.
SM kinda stole some HP names: james Potter. siruis BLACK. Bellatrix(BELLA), Charles/CHARLIE w. etc.

I love you for making this video. I watched the twilight movie and it made no sense and was completely rushed.
the girls like the movie because of a hot guy...obviously our society is getting more n more stupid.
u brought up good points. hp has depth and realistic romance and so much action. the only action i liked in twilight was the baseball part...n that wasnt even THAT great.

Probably not mature, but I think "wet dream brainfart* captures it perfectly! Meyer wrote it after a dream she had and it came out like a literary fart.
I reread HP recently too and it was like... wonderful! The characters were written beautifully and realistically, the plot was complex, yet held together and was all resolved by the end (over 7 books)... it just doesn't compare!
