  • If anyone doubts the faithfullness of this rendition, John Paul would have pulled in any one of 30 million influences and just chucked them in there in a millisecond as you all know :)

This is quite a buttkicking version where the only thing lacking is, (as mentioned by someone), the power chords on bass, (re: Live 1973 @ Madison Sq Garden) and Bonzo's machine gun bass drum kicks.

Crank this up loud! I do :)

    Thanks!

Might have to do a youtube version myself :) lmaooo

  • at 0:01

he looks like steve priest >:D

  • best led zep song played by the best bassist that ever lived

  • @TheBigbutt11 tJohn Paul Jones also wrote the riff

  • @TheBigbutt11

All due respect, I love JPJ but I think John Entwistle was better. JPJ is still awesome, though.

  • Around 1:46, when he plays those off beat E and D chords, I believe John was playding power fifths, so simultaneously playing E on the A string (7th fret) and B on the D string (9th fret). same with the D chord.

  • I met John Paul Jones in 1992

  • Hello there music appreciator.

-Do bluesy bands likes Zeppelin, Floyd, Joplin, Doors, Hendrix, and The Who give you chills? Are you physically attracted to seeking truth in music?

I am formally inviting you to take a listen to my songs, please relax and let you ears fully enjoy what I have to offer.

I would love it if you took the time and heard my tunes, they wont leave you disapointed

IF YOU LIKE HENDRIX PAGE OR ANY OF THE GREATS THIS GUY IS SURELY GONNA BE UP THERE

  • i like the grove

  • Thank you. This is awesome!

  • so um JPJ actually used a pick in that song...

  • For even a semi-experienced player, videos like these are extremely helpful. Seeing a decent player perform the piece with a good view of his hands is great. Most bass videos like this on youtube are of young kids with sloppy technique or using unintuitive left-hand fingering, usually accompanied by completely unhelpful camera angles. Videos like this are a breath of fresh air.

  • Jonesey is rather good isn't he?

  • @garyfromuk He's the best

  • do u guys cater 4 beginners? i would love to learn bass

  • @DavidM4725 Hi there - thanks for the message - we have a DVD called Bass From Scratch. We will send you a link to you inbox so you can take a look! Hope it helps!

  • @TheSpazzarro Jones used a pick on these songs- -Black Dog -Celebration Day (live version) -Immigrant Song -The Song Remains The Same -Nobody's Fault But Mine -Out On The Tiles -The Crunge -Dyer Maker -The Ocean (album version) -The entire Presence album
  • good good...bass line clear friend...awssome...

  • what tipe of bass is this?

  • @amadej1703 yamaha bb bass

  • Not a big Led Zeppelin fan,but this song is dope!

  • John uses a pick to create more sound.

  • ah the bass is sooo smooth in mine. perfect.

  • nice job, sounds great over my system

  • if you don't hear the bass put on headphones and you will hear it perfectly

  • yeah most bassists have ears tuned more to hear bass, for instance i can pick out bass lines alot easier not that before i played bass but the bass is perfectly slear on this anyway.

  • man that yamaha has great tone ; nice licks man totally enjoyed

  • Most people cant hear it because the notes are almost exactly the same as guitar in this song

  • @Syo00 I KNOW it's not! Watch at 4:29

  • @RonnyOnBass Bass Guitar Performance with Phil Williams

    here's your proof

  • @fatoujonny2 Hey... I'm human... we don't always read everything. Hah!

  • @RonnyOnBass bass is more interesting anyway

  • people who can't hear the bass don't play bass

  • @kimchislayer I don't play bass, but I can clearly hear it. Does that mean I might be a great bass player?

  • @DanAndHoe it means you have great ears.

  • @DanAndHoe no. lol

  • @kimchislayer Its a good thing we got such qualified musicians such as yourself to show us the world we are missing, AGHH the mentality of a child being wasted on the youth, do you sit around and compliment each other on how truely great you are ? if you dont well then you should, BECAUSE NO-ONE ELSE WILL ! Now go to yur room and do your homework before your father comes home(sound familiar)

  • @kimchislayer as a bass player, damn straight, lol.

  • @kimchislayer

Actually, equalization should be better. In practically ANY other tune you find in youtube, from country to electronic, the bass is with higher volume. The trebles are just too high here.

  • @ConfortinDEADHORSE Eq? Isn't that what subwoofers are for? Sounds excellent on my systems. (no mp3's here). Dump it off computer or whatever, convert it to lossless and throw it on studio monitors :)

  • the bass follows the guitar (or vice versa) - no problem learning the riff

  • @SupernalOne The guitar follows the bass. Jonesy wrote it.

  • @DeltaGaryGordon

    aha - good on Jonesy!

  • @TheSpazzarro no for black dog, whole lotta love and a couple others....

  • how hard would it have been to back up a bit and get like the whole two hands and bass in the picture... i been following bass players that way for 40+ yrs. guess this is the new way or something like a better idea . good job of playing it though!

  • is it a yamaha bb414?

  • @TheSpazzarro Oh ho yes he did. He has expressed it many time in interviews and you can see him using it on the Live videos, such as Black Dog from the The Song Remains the Same. Trust me :)

  • It´s amazing what people do with a BASS GUITAR ...thumbs up if you lik eLED ZEPPELIN

  • I am pretty sure JPJ uses a pick and a real trebly sound when he plays it. But your tone and playing is great in its own way

  • i want that shirt

  • WHAT A JUCIY SOUND!! great

  • great job!

  • The reason I am an acoustic amp junkie.

  • how does somebody not like this

  • Guess it's hard to hear it since the guitar is drowning out the noise...

  • i dunno why alway the guitar have got more volume than the bass

i mean, i can hear the bass cause im used to it

but is not easy to hear, and its harder when guitar is louder and distorted and higher

  • I can hear bass very well.

  • @wolan96 go and change your sound card. change to the HD

  • cant hear the bass , all i hear is guitar and drums

  • @mokadesx you can hear the guitar over the bass because of the distorsion of the guitar but if there weren't bass in this track it would sound very different

  • Bass sounds fine here !!!

  • @licklibrary well the shitty guitar tone drowns out the bass almost completely

  • u guys can't hear the bass cause u dont have the soul for rock music , fuck you and im borrowing grandma's laptop right now which is like IBM win98..and for that to listen to youtube is like trying to get turned on by nixon , its freaking old

  • @makantang You're a complete douchebag. Rock music doesnt want to have fans like you.

  • Comment removed

  • What you are hearing isnt really the bass.. its the guitar.. the bass is abit softer and i cant really hear it.. the guitar backing track is really loud and its covering the bass too much. he jus plays the bass and some of u think the guitar sound is from the bass, its not.

  • If you don't mind me saying, all parts are right on with the exception of "1:33," and outro. I believe JP is playing this "part" in the 3rd position, using an open A & E string to pedal between the G & C, using an occasional F#. If you listen closely you can hear what I'm saying . Nice job though.

  • dunno why people cant hear the bass i got the worst sound system and i can hear it perfectly.

  • @jubjub09222

yeh i hear it just fine,,, maybe they just dfont know what to listen for

  • @jubjub09222 i can hear it fine too

people are half deaf i guess

  • @jubjub09222 because u know how the bass sounds

  • @jubjub09222 they dont have an ear for it because they suck at life

  • @thameatwad yeah go ahead and just insult others for not having a trained ear.

  • @jubjub09222 yap. i can hear it too.....

  • @jubjub09222

they are usually distracted by the guitar and drums and the singing

  • probably woulda made alot of sense to turn down the guitar, dont you think?

  • John Paul Jones used a pick for this song, both live and in studio. You still did a great job, I just wanted to point that out. Keep rockin'!

  • great playing/bass sound.. just wish your left hand technique a little less guitaresque....

  • kind of bass is that!.. its awesome!

  • @chpsoh It´s a Yamaha BB614

  • i hear the bass fine, and its a good video i think.

  • Can't hear the bass very well =(

  • @5Mag1cs

Training the ears to hear lower frequencies, better... It's what bass player's do.

  • I have this dvd! It's bloody ace!
