  • god, she is so cool.

  • that's some fancy dancin'!

  • I saw one of the concerts on this tour and it was AMAZING! She's playing in Berkeley this friday - gonna see it! My greatest regret concert wise is missing the concert she did based on Mobyy Dick. It was playing nearby and i just didn't hear about it!.

  • Quality might be a bit ropey, but at least it plays on my iPod, so thanks for this. One of my favourite live Laurie tracks.

  • great!

  • Why are they creepy? It's 911, the american version of 999, following from the previous graphics of SOS...

  • yeah, the 911 graphics are a little eerie.. especially when they fade off of the stage screen at the very end.. one of the "1"s sort of disappears leaving the other "1", when it too disappears.. creepy... a lot of people have also commented that her song 'Oh Superman' has a lot of eerie lyrical references that can be compared to 9/11..

  • @modular77 did you know laurie was scheduled to perform 3 days after 911??? the show was scheduled months before. itz not like she chose three days. she still performed but when she did o superman and sang' they american planes, made in america,' her voice was shaky with emotion. i find performing 3 days after 911 very interesting. was it chance? who knows?

  • @modular77 i personally think laurie is finely tuned into jung's universal consciousness... her whole reason for being an artist is to observe life and interpret it. she sees & feels more than the average person on a conscious and subconscious level so anything is possible, but one cant set it all in stone. never the less = very interesting

  • as for 'smoke rings',i think 'smoke rings' is just a song about someone lamenting the past, like past relationships, or friendships.. and i think the "911" screen is only a reference to 'calling 9-11' because somehtings wrong... similar to the "Sos" graphics, and the 'morse code'-ish plucking sounds in the song..

it really is a strangely powerful song emotionally, and theres even a lot of satire and humor in the song..

i guess in the end, laurie just wrote a really cool song...

  • @warwickharris ...of course, this is all coincidence and very wide speculation. but yes i know about the sept 2001 laurie anderson concert..

she did perform o'superman, i think if anything 9/11 just casts a different light over 'o'superman' and since the attack, it -sort of- gives the song a new context..

  • I love it

    since I was a child.

it used to play at Tv add here in Brazil

  • cool. had this vid back in university mid 80s!! but seeing that 911 floating in the background now.. freakin my ass out, yo.

  • Standby. You're on the air. Buenas noches Señores y Señoras. Bienvenidos. La primera pregunta es: ¿Qué es más macho, pineapple or knife? Well, let's see. My guess is that a pineapple is more macho than a knife. Sí! Correcto! Pineapple es más macho que knife. La segunda pregunta es: ¿Qué es más macho, lightbulb or schoolbus? Uh, lightbulb? No! Lo siento, Schoolbus es más macho que lightbulb. Gracias. And we'll be back in un momento.
  • this beat is boombastic. I still run the LP because I love this sound.

  • we have all this sound and video technology made so easy now but no one so interesting to watch use it. i met laurie anderson and she shook my hand and spoke to me for a moment and that's one of my favourite moments in my life. she inspires! cheers to all the above comments and the person who took the time to put this up.

  • bummer. i've got a functioning cerebral cortex and i never met her. i've been rather close though. hope she enlightened your lizard brain.

  • Fantastic. Would love to see some other Anderson songs such as The Dream Before (Hansel and Gretel are alive and well and they're living in Berlin) and 'So Happy Birthday'.

  • I love this song, thanks for sharing!

  • this video inspired my work and changed my life.... so amazing and mind blowing XXXXX thank you for putting it out - it is rare and unique like a dimond :)

  • wow love this tune. laurie anderson was a genius so cool seeing her use the recorded tape bow she pioneered.
