i love those elephant fish have you ever seen then give out the electric shock???i had 3 eels like that and just found them all sucked up in the filter pore buggers didnt stand a chance and what makes it worse i only had then for all of 3 days lol.i hav now pluged up the hole they found and im goin to get some more soon

It's pool filter sand. Silica I believe. You can get it from DIY stores or swimming pools equipment stores.

They would survive in a 3ft tank but I don't think that they would be very happy.
They like chasing each other at a very high speed and need lots of space as much as hiding places.
They are also quite territorial and they may be aggressive to others of the same species.
Feeding is the most challenging issue as they won't take flakes or pellets. Mine only eat bloodworms and daphnias (live or frozen).
They also grow quite large (9inches).
