As far as movies go, this is probably the most epic and haunting ship wrecks of all time. Little hard to compare this to Titanic however.. that was based on a true story.

everything is always computer animated.. it ruins the movie... like jaws almost nothing is animated and even tho it looks fake at times its still one of the scariest movies of all time.. thats all u think about when your in the water
@nachtpanzer55 fantastic point. Remember in the original film, there were no computer generated effects, heck there was no software nor were there computers with such components. The original film concentrates more on the people of the disaster and how they unite as one group to survive, but the new film, though sets are well depicted, doesn't do well with the computer generated effects.
@titanicfinatic And when I realized in the original that the captain was Leslie Nielson(sp?) I kept expecting him to say "And don't call me Shirley..." There was one remake where terrs blew holes in the ship & overturned her so there have been three versions of this.The first as best,IMHO.
you know its a good thing to have an appreciation for older versions of movies but it doesnt always mean they were better. Compared to know the special effects were pretty shitty, and the film was way longer than it needed to be...the point could have been made a lot sooner. Oh and also the cgi is fucking amazing...i dont see anything wrong with it (being the first extremely complex model made)

This movie was a very bad remake of the original Poseidon Adventure. BTW the life boats where hung incorrect at there davits. There are no tenders and the flag at the stern is not the flag of the country of registry. The flag would never hosted at sea.
To be honest, I love tragic movies, but I JUST HATE seeing girls die! And the only part I felt sad for a man, was seeing Valentin fall to his death. :(

@Neonspinnazz30 Its a lot harder then u think to build a ship. While the Poseidon dose look beautiful, some of the design aspects might not work in real life. If they were to build the ship, they would have to create floor plans that would fit the external skeleton and some of the dimensions the ship has might not work. There might not be able to fit the machinery required to run a ship inside or it could end up top heavy and flip over (like in the movie), u need to consider a lot of factors
@Nick0239 Well all true, eventually the final product never looks like the concept, like a car. Some things on a concept won't work in the real product or makes costs too high, but at least the finished product will resemble the concept...

To my knowledge Poseidon isnt a real ship, Titanic earned is name in history despite that fact it was a very tragic event and many lives lost, the Queen Mary did as well I would search out information on both of those ships you will be amazed at what you learn by reading up on them.
The Poseidon design of the rooms are good, 4 decks or 5 decks, but total there is over 15 or 17 decks in the large ship. Then this ship is almost identical on QM2
the music is great, and the movie was okay. But I can't stand the design of the ship. It's way too narrow for it's length and height. Oh well, it's a movie. No wonder is capsized. Just kidding. Thanks for posting this vid!
If you know ships good, thats what you call a transatlantic liner. They need to be narrow to slice through the water efficently. They based this ship off of QM2, go check her out.
I know that, and I'm very familiar with the QM2 and what a real oceanliner is. I'm actually in college and taking classes for large yacht and cruise ship design. But I was talking about the upper decks, I'm just saying it looks awkward to me. That's just my opinion, I wasn't trying to be a smart butt. And I think the Queen Mary 2 is much better looking than this ship.
i think the director is very cheap to animate this ship when this movie came out in like 2006. when titanic came out in the 90's, they built the actuall model and remake of titanic. now these cheep ass directors have to animate everything.
it would be useless to biuld the whole ship as the only shooting took place was inside the ship, titanic had outdoor shots for which the ship had to be biuld.

Beautiful ship. In every Poseidon film, the ship is different though. If I made a poseidon film, It would be a white cruise liner(Like in the 2005 one) But with a picture of Poseidon/neptune on his throne on the side of the ship.

The ship looks 100% like the Queen Mary 2. There's some similarities between her and the Poseidon.
1. They're both ocean liners
2. They have bow thrusters
3. Their funnels are almost the same.

They aren't 100% alike however the Poseidon was heavily based on the Queen Mary 2. The ballroom is identical for example.

If you know ships good, thats what you call a transatlantic liner. They need to be narrow to slice through the water efficently. They based this ship off of QM2, go check her out.

I know that, and I'm very familiar with the QM2 and what a real oceanliner is. I'm actually in college and taking classes for large yacht and cruise ship design. But I was talking about the upper decks, I'm just saying it looks awkward to me. That's just my opinion, I wasn't trying to be a smart butt. And I think the Queen Mary 2 is much better looking than this ship.

i think the director is very cheap to animate this ship when this movie came out in like 2006. when titanic came out in the 90's, they built the actuall model and remake of titanic. now these cheep ass directors have to animate everything.

no cunard and white star were separate. cunard was known for its speed of ships and white star was known for its luxury

Actually Cunard was its own company b4 but then White Star Line Merged with Cunard and became one company

Beautiful ship. In every Poseidon film, the ship is different though. If I made a poseidon film, It would be a white cruise liner(Like in the 2005 one) But with a picture of Poseidon/neptune on his throne on the side of the ship.
