If this is cliche, then ALL zombie movies are cliche, since they're all the same. I see nothing wrong with this test; it's rather good, actually. The only thing is: if you really want a dead look, try using grey toned colours, and splash a little blue as well, for that dead, decaying look. It'll look as if the skin has lost all the colour from the blood, and maybe some green for a sallowed look.
