None the less, we have the word papuci in Romania too. Also, we have sapun, but that doesn't come from Turkish, comes from Latin. Is present in Aromanian languages, old Latin, Italian and other languages too. I guess in FYROM they call it different because they learned to wash during the Turkish occupation and they thought it to be Turk word. :o)

@Kate8785 My language? My maternal language is Romanian. My Macedonian relatives speak Aromanian and some of them Greek.
None the less, we have the word papuci in Romania too. Also, we have sapun, but that doesn't come from Turkish, comes from Latin. Is present in Aromanian languages, old Latin, Italian and other languages too. I guess in FYROM they call it different because they learned to wash during the Turkish occupation and they thought it to be Turk word. :o)

Greece needs to learn from Canada, USA and Australia. These three countries have acknowledged the traditional owners of the land on which these countries exist, have issued apologies to the owners for past mistakes have given the owners equal rights and opportunities and they are now moving forward. That's what great countries and civilised societies do. Macedonians accept that Macedonia will never be united but our brothers and sisters that live in the Greek part of Macedonia deserve equality.

Most of them were thrown out of Greece during the civil war - that's something you need to come to grips with as well. How are we treating our minorities. I note that Stopanska Banka (our major bank) and scores of other businesses are Greek-owned. Is the country totally free of descrimination - of course not, but there are laws that impose stiff penalties - that's the difference.

You really don't know your own history, do you? Greece did not come to existence until the 1850's. In ancient times there were city-states. Macedonia was the enemy that conquered those states. Macedonians were not allowed to participate in the Olympic Games because they did not look anything like the Spartans, Athenians or the Helenes. What is your origin - God only knows. What is my origin - ditto. Greece denies Macedonia's legitimacy because of abuse of human rights in the 1900's.

There is a real debate going on about the origins of the Greeks - there is a school of thought that argues that you originate from Egypt/India (related to gypsies) and another that argues you originate from apes (you certainly look like them). @FYROMSKI just look up for a copy of the original release of the book "Za Makedonckite raboti" from 1903 (41 years before the alleged date of the artificial creation of the Macedonian language), you will find the same differences between the Macedonian and the Bulgarian language then, as there are now. If someone decided to officially recognize it only in 1944, that's another story. But this doesn't prove it didn't exist before that. On the contrary, it proves there was a language to recognize.

@cavemancyproductions Па се разбира дека нашиот јазик е словенски. Тоа го пишува во секоја енциклопедија. А ние што точно сме, словени, несловени... тоа е работа на антрополози, генетичари. Јас лично не мислам дека еден народ може да се класифицира како словенски или германски или романски. Таа класификација е соодветна за јазиците, но не и за народите. Пример: Шкотите, тие се келтски народ кој сега со 99% зборува само англиски јазик.

Next time when you visit Greece, go to Voden (Edessa in Greek) and ask the locals if they speak dopica (the local language as they call it in Greece) and you will hear exactly the same dialect of the Macedonian language as in this video.

It happened not so long ago,but in the last century during the Metaxas regime. Macedonians were punished and even killed for speaking their Macedonian lang. the same that you hear on this video.
