So it's like a $30 used multi-FX pedal off Ebay, except this 1 has no interface screen & U need 2 hook it 2 a laptop 1'st, & it's smaller & costs $300 ? =)) Oh, the 'innovation'. Oh & don't forget 2 subtract the distortions?
One more point I couldn't fit in my previous post: While digital is great in it's own way, the fact that these are DIGITAL takes the CHARM out of Analog pedals and WHY they are so sought after in the first place. YES, there IS a difference to the sound! Ya know how PODS have yet to TRULY, FAITHFULLY replace real tube amps? Same kinda thing! There's a difference. If there wasn't there wouldn't be such a HUGE boutique ANALOG pedal market. Just think about it before you drink the Kool-Aid. ;)
I appreciate TCelec is making new products to fill a need, but to me the whole concept is only good for taking your money. Seriously, these are DIGITAL FX boxes on the floor! What makes these so different than racks of yesteryear with "Artist" presets? Not much! Not to mention often those "Artist" presets were useless once you tried them in your own context. Give me a good FX box with 4 cable method over this ANY day. Eventually you'll want more negating the benefits of simple OR "cheap"!
I keep reading that it's a simple stomp box. I beg to differ.
If it has a USB port and can accept a bunch of different settings which can not be achieved by using the 4 knobs that are available, then no.. it's not a simple stomp box.
@FROGSTARtube except there's an actual artist who sat and did those settings with one of our technicians, which is not something you can do yourself, so yes, there's a name, and yes, there's a free product. But yea, we can understand you can object to the notion of getting things for free. After all, you have to buy the pedal first to get it. And advertising a product with informational videos so you know what it can do and that you can get it is a great sin and we apologize profoundly.
the pedal's tone is still decided by TCe since they don't give the USER access to all the parameters inside the pedal to make our own sounds. the feature is nothing but a gimmick.
@heminder I was wondering the same. Is the TonePrint simply a way of saving the settings of any of the other sounds in the pedal? Or did the artists who created the TonePrints get to change parameters which are not accessible using any of te existing knobs on the pedal? If they didn't, then the Toneprint is nothing more than a preset bank that you can save a sound to?
@odgeUK Artists use different settings that are done through the software that was made to control the pedals. You can check out our channel for videos where you see the artists go through the process of creating their toneprint with one of our technicians or Tore. TonePrints are, when selected, the 12 o'clock position on the pedal, and you can then tweak the knobs to change that around.
@tcelectronic Thank You. So the artists have access to parameters not obtainable by using the four knobs on the unit? Cool. I do agree with others, if users could download the editor and edit the parameters themselves then that would be so cool. User defined Toneprints. Rockin.
@heminder It's a range of great sounding pedals with the ability to ad many different settings into them, while keeping them a very simple, easy to use format. We have the Nova range of pedals, the G-System and the G-Major, and other rack units, if you want full-feature powers. This, however, is our bid at a nice, simple stompbox. Nothing more, nothing less.
@disturbtheworlds probably not much since most if not all of these are supposed to be true bypass. I got a polytune by TC and there's no tone suck when off at all.
@jaysterdude If you expect such things from a simple stompbox you're looking at the wrong product. We have high-quality effects units like the Nova pedals, G-system and other rack units like the G-Major2 for what it seems you want. These pedals are our take at a small, simple and easy to use stompbox effect unit. It's not a replacement for a pedal that's far more expensive. Not that we've released price info, so I don't know where you know it's too expensive from ;)
Users should be able to access parameters that arent on the front panel. Why would you want some one else's settings, It would be good for cover band that's about it.
@metalmouth13 This is a simple stompbox with a fun and useful extra feature. If you want the full range of options, the Nova series of pedals, the G-system, Nova system, G-Major2 and other powerful effects units are what you will want.
@tcelectronic No, because the toneprint pedals are small and easy to use. Downloadable gratis Toneprints are a nice Gimmick, but not more. Selling the software that you use to make the toneprints would be really cool!
And maybe a bit larger versions of the pedals would be great, maybe in BB-size enclosures. With a few presets, selectable with up and down footswitches.
And Midi via USB, to select the presets with a midi switcher and to synchronize the tempo of delays, chorus etc with midi clock
@tortfeasor99: " If it's just a method of storing the positions of the knobs on the front panel, then meh." - as he explains in the video, it's much more than that. A TonePrint literally rewire the pedals and accordingly, the specific features/ranges of the knobs. I think it's a nice compromise between super-complex 19" devices and more simple pedals. YMMV.
If there were a Toneprint editor that end users to could use to access parameters not available on the front panel, that would officially make these pedals revolutionary. If it's just a method of storing the positions of the knobs on the front panel, then meh. Who cares.
@herrfilm Exactly. It's a cool concept, but it would be great if TC would let us download the software to play with the parameters ourselves and customize our own stuff.
Awesome stuff guys - can't wait to see/hear them for real! Do you think at some point in the future users will have access to the TonePrint software to make our own toneprints?
@robertholsman At some point this may become an option, however the software presently, as you can see used in the "making of" videos we have of several TonePrints, is very complex and not fit for consumer use. In future there may be a user-version made available. But remember, these are small, cheap, simple stompboxes. There are plenty of effects units capable of doing all the things you wish in the Nova and G series of TC products :)

@nuskooltone Don't be a corksniffer. Digital is easily as good as analogue now. Listen to the nova delay, the Empress products and even these.

Toneprint would be a much better feature if we mere mortals were allowed to play with the editor.

@disturbtheworlds I believe the Flashback has a complete dry-through signal. And there's a choice of true-bypass and buffer via a dipswitch.

I don't want just 4 knobs, I want 100's of parameters......I guess I'm not worthy.
How about demonstrating patches that might be usable in a band context?
The price of these pedals prohibit purchase on the basis of this video....
Shame TC, shame.....

well, i am VERY IMPRESSED by the whole lot & am planning to obtain a Hall of Fame as soon as possible.
they're quite affordable and, in my opinion, feature-laden. plus, they're right in line with T.C. Electronic's build quality and excellent sound.
