    greeting from afghan soldier

  • what is 'tagging'?

  • This makes me want to cry. Every kids should have a mom like YOU! Thanks for sharing!

  • Some days it's not easy....stay tuned, we are "actually" visiting the dentist the end of the month. Details and video to follow.

  • What does this do?

  • I LOVE MARSHMELLOWS!!!

  • Totally cool! Love it! I'm a "clicker" trainer for dogs. I have a 3 year old and we're working on letters using the clicker. She loves it! I can see the confidence in your son grow. Congratulations smarty mom!

  • This is UNbelievable. You are one amazing mom and he is a very lucky boy. Can't wait to see the progress. Keep up the good work and I hope you get lots of tags and rewards yourself!!!!

  • We just did this first visit last week. If we can we'll either go back this week or Monday next week. Who knows when we'll be able to do an actual visit. I'll just keep video taping it. We shall see. :)

  • That's awesome, I don't have kids but I have just about everything else around me clicker trained. I've been thinking about it's application to kids recently, and was wondering how one would go about it. Any updates on this? How did you continue when you actually had an appointment? good job!

  • masaterful job! Bravo!!!!

  • This is absolutely mind blowing esp. when you look at the prep for this visit. Too cool! I can see a myriad of applications!

Good on you for finding a psotive empowering way to handle this very frightening experience!

  • He has fear of things that are new, doctors, noises, being told to do things that are not his idea...the list goes on. The dentist could become the "perfect" storm. Haircuts used to be a 2 person holding one cutting to give you an idea. I'm lucky with him he give LOTS of body cues, and uses them in varied situations. Also I should state that his reinforcer was mini marshmellows, his choice ;-) The dentist will love it! Thanks for watching

  • This is absolutely fascinating. Could you post some info about why your son is afraid of the dentist, or how you came to realize he was afraid of the dentist? Is he afraid of many other things this way or is it related mostly to his mouth? It was interesting to see how you narrowly avoided a few temper tantrums with the help of tag. I could see people thinking tagging was weird and kind of unnecessary until they saw that part :) Can't wait to see how the dentist process progresses!

  • I thought it was interesting how after the potty break, he wanted to come back and was able to go all the way in.

  • As Theresa says, they always give themselves a harder tag point then you would :) I just wanted to set up for success.
