Muscle is not just muscle. You have different types. There is slow twitch (type I) and fast twitch (type IIa and type IIx). Type I is used for endurance events like a marathon. Type IIa is used for heavy resistance training like a 3 rep bench. Type IIx is used for explosive exercises such as a 100 meter Sprint. So don't say muscle is muscle and if you have it you can do any sport or activity because that statement is 100 percent false. Functional muscle is real.
thats just for his marine movie workout, i watched cena workout for many years and he uses loose weights more than anything, he used machines to look good, he really trains like a strongman, body builder only care about look, strongmen real workout
@haley12351 how do u know your gaining fat and not just muscle? use a body fat clipper and see overtime again if the bf % went up then you are gaining fat, if not then your gaining muscle off the p90x
Muscle is muscle. The whole concept of "functional" muscles "functional" training just seems like a way to water down the real thing. If you have muscle, you can utilize its functions.
@Cornbreadddd Your muscles are functional for what you prepare them for, if you train exclusively like a bodybuilder you're functions is looking good, and a powerlifter is lifting as heavy as possible, that's not really useful if you ask me. An athlete trains to be functional in every aspect, mma, baseball, basketball etc. those are sports that involve everything, speed, power, cardio and acuracy. That's a lot more useful, and a lot more healthy. Sou wich one YOU choose, showing off or athleanX?
Can you post something on training your back and biceps while avoiding harming your tendons? I had tendinitis and I want to change my routines when I get back in the gym but I don't know exactly what to do to gate the same results as before without harming my tendons again. :|
Hey Jeff, I just turned 15 and everyone always tell me that I'm too young to be lifting heavy weights. Do heavy weights negatively affect growing teenagers or is it just a myth?
@MoeB159 only if your lifting weights wrong and the growth plates become damaged will growth be affected... if you lift correctly there will be no negative affect.
@MoeB159 If you keep it safe with good technique you should be fine. I started lifting right before turned 15 this spring, and I've grown a lot since then.
This very helpful since I take your suggestion and apply them to my workout. Cool, detail on the exercise............spreading the word for you about A-X to the masses... thank you
Ahhh the spider man push up, such a simple concept yet such a great exercise! Buy this program, it's only $67. Well worth it, for those that say they can't afford it. Don't go out and eat a few times or skip the beer for a few weeks and you will have enough to get the program. If you live with your folks tell them you will do extra chores for a few weeks if they buy it for you.
@JDCav24 My left pec is more filled out (larger) than my right pec. Would the one arm dumbbell press you were doing in this video fix this problem and even them out?
one side of your body will always be weaker than the other...unless youre planing on joining any bodybuilding competitions you shouldnt focus too much on that...it takes a LOT of work and time to even this kind of things out and even if you do your left pec will still be bigger because of the regular exercise(unless you stop workin out both and just focus on the right one.which is kinda counter productive)
hmm is athlean x workouts that you do at home or in the gym? cuz i wanna get it but i wanna be able to use machines too, unlike p90x (which i love btw)
you look like john cena but just a scaled down version...i wanna look like you man no homo...if i can get off my fat ass and do something about it -_-
Jeff, if we already have the Athlean-X workout system, how do we get the celebrity workout report separately? Seems to be a great supplement to the original workout!
@tbonepaint Thanks for the help. I am not sure which email you mean - the one that got me here. I have been subscribed to AthLEAN-X on youtube.com for quite a while. Are you refering to an email I received once I purchased the system?
@Healer09 Dude, any of the training add-on's he releases he usually sends out for free for Team Athlean members anyway. He's been really good like that and I've not missed a single one.
@xrisp Thank for the comment. How does he send them to Team Athlean Members? How have you received add-on in the past? I'm just wondering, so I know where and when to look Jeff's great material. I appreciate your help.
@waltergernand Thanks Walter. Was just wanted a brief overview of what you get with the program before I buy it. Just like you see on TV, they give you a brief overview of the product, of what you get..etc before you buy.
@tunas707 Core training is what you need. Look up some videos on it . Some exercises include crunches and the plank. The reason nobody can knock Messi off the ball is because he has a strong core. It also helps that he's small... and a footballing genius.
Jeff I love your clips a lot and really learn so much from you. But in my humble opinion, you really don't need to take a jab at P90x or Tony Horton to prove your point. Your work has its own merits as does his. He has helped millions across the country and at least has transformed the way I personally approach health and fitness. Sorry if I got you wrong on this.
@newsdevourer Except that P90 has tried to steal about everything Jeff does and bury him with their deep pockets. Other than that there's no reason to a shot on P90...
@fron052 Bruce Lees training is very ambiguous.Different fans will say different things, I'm currently reading a book of interviews with his old original students. They all state that he only used to train functional movements and emphasized speed training over anything.Cardio was a massive part of it for him and they almost all say that Bruce only started to train muscular hypertrophy for when he really broke into the movie scene. One of his students noted how he had 15" forearms & 13" upper arm

I'm not a big fan of John Cena. ..At all. Imagine if he did something like Benoit, and went nuts and killed his family? Alllllll these years invested into Cena will be censored like Benoit was. ..I will give him this though, he's worked hard for that body. And has worked hard to get to the top.
