What ever happened to the President shaking hands, and meeting the people? I think he is impersonal and distant. He evacuated the whole hospital just to say hi to Giffords! That means all of the vistors and even the pacients were evacuated. All the poor sick people had to get out of the way when the big man came.
I have a story no one else has. I woked at the hospital Giffords came to. And Iwas ther When Obama came and he brought an ARMY!!!! The whole Police force was there. Also you should have seen all the GMC suvs, and not just in black but a bunch of colors. And on the roofs he had dozens of snipers. No one saw this because I work in the back of the hospital and the news crews werent allowed back there. We had to stay in the office or the cops told us that we would be shot by the snipers.

Its pathetic that people see this speech and talk about Obama's campaign and the economy. I cried watching this. People have died and he is remembering and honoring them in a positive and hopeful way. It's a memorial speech. Those trying to put him down in comments to this speech are selfish assholes whose only goal is to try to fake like they know a little something about political issues. Some people keep trying to seek divisive isuues from this tragedy. It is ultimately unimportant if there is a proven connection between violent political rhetoric and crime. What ever happened to the President shaking hands, and meeting the people? I think he is impersonal and distant. He evacuated the whole hospital just to say hi to Giffords! That means all of the vistors and even the pacients were evacuated. All the poor sick people had to get out of the way when the big man came.

I have a story no one else has. I woked at the hospital Giffords came to. And Iwas ther When Obama came and he brought an ARMY!!!! The whole Police force was there. Also you should have seen all the GMC suvs, and not just in black but a bunch of colors. And on the roofs he had dozens of snipers. No one saw this because I work in the back of the hospital and the news crews werent allowed back there. We had to stay in the office or the cops told us that we would be shot by the snipers.

Its pathetic that people see this speech and talk about Obama's campaign and the economy. I cried watching this. People have died and he is remembering and honoring them in a positive and hopeful way. It's a memorial speech. Some people keep trying to seek divisive isuues from this tragedy. It is ultimately unimportant if there is a proven connection between violent political rhetoric and crime. A society with violent and irrational discouse is a weak and irrational society. It would hurt nothing and help a lot if we banished anger and threats from political discussion, not because of coercion but because we all want our country to improve and thrive. This just seems like common sense.

Whether it's Palin or the tea party or the parents or society at large. The point is it's the gunman who did this for reasons we may never know, and it's scary to think about (naturally). We want to feel a sense of control in an out of control world. This just reminds us of that anything can happen to anyone at any time and anywhere.

This speach was great and it makes me realize how precious each minute of life here on earth is. I will continue to reach people with my faith in God. We as americans are very compassionate people and we have helped many people around the world for many years now. We need to reach out to people and try to understand and help the mentally ill. We cannot afford to lose another precious life to evil acts caused by lost and confused people. Keep your trust and faith in God!

I was also suprized there was no protest filed by the left since.government officials were reading from the bible at a State sponsored University.I guess there would not be any reason to not expect double to quadruple standards on religious expressions in public though.

Those with hateful and/or disparaging comments to this speech are only reinforcing the meaning of the speech. The man is the president of the United States and regardless of what you personally think of him, it is his duty as president to bring the country together at times like this. His comments were completely non partisan and very well spoken. God Bless to those killed and injured in this tragedy and god bless America!

I know this isn't particularly the President's fault, but in light of holding a Memorial Service for those who lost their lives and those who struggle to keep it, why must the audience completely disregard any sense of solemnity and mourning once the President shows up. It's a MEMORIAL SERVICE, not a campaign rally, dumbasses. Show some respect.

Perhaps. I personally believe that Obama's speech was very sincere and genuine. But as usual, the GOP and the Republicans are now whining and complaining that Obama used this memorial and this specific speech to jumpstart his re-election campaign. I knew they'd find something about the speech to whine about. I knew they'
