  • I didn't follow full instructions.. :/ I haven't been counting as I go up in rows and now I have 37 stitches. I started with 36 loops so I was suppose to do 35 SC for the first 7 rows. Will this greatly affect how the scarf will look?

  • @Caution777 It should not matter too much if you are only off by 1 stitch. Ripping out your work is a part of crochet. It's also known as frogging because you rip-it, rip-it! deciding when to rip it and when to ignore the mistake is up to you. I do frogging almost every day whether it's just a few stitches, or an entire piece.

  • I have been trying to teach myself to crochet and have no one to ask for questions. I also have to mirror everything since I'm left-handed. But seeing these videos help me so much and make things so much clearer than the diagrams in my book have ever made them. I can't thank you enough!

  • Thank you so much for this! I bought a crochet scarf kit that came with instructions and I couldn't understand it. This explains half-double crochet so well. Thank you again!

  • Your mention that single crochet tends to curl up has changed eight years of crocheting for me! I always assumed I had horrible technique because my crochet pieces--especially sc and synthetic fiber--like to curl in that same "corkscrew" pattern you show in the video. I felt so frustrated at myself and would only make projects with natural curves, like hats, to hide my embarassment. If only I knew before that yarn does this on its own and it's not totally MY fault! Thank you so much!

  • Haha, mine goes bompy and wavy allready!

  • The best video for explanation and clear view of the crochet. The only downside is if you are a UK viewer you have to remember that the crochet terms are different in Britain e.g. single crochet USA = double crochet in UK.

  • I know. Sorry about that, but I had to choose. I am American, so...

I know many crocheters from Europe use the American terms because most of the free patterns on the net are in American terms.
