BIM tools are now available in SketchUp! Check out the SketchUpBIM plugin. The initial version is free and extremely easy to get started! Click on the SketchUpBIM link below for additional details.
U can't make holes with push/pull tool if u created group with your wall's (interior-exterior). To fix that click right button mouse on grouped walls and chose to Explode, after that just do as the dude in tutrial says.
@drumzz777 used for detailed drawings - floorplans, sections, details, layouts like electric, notes, and etc. More sophisticated than Sketchup in 2d area. you can export CAD files into Sketchup for quick 3d models.
There is an iPad app that lets you view sketchup models. Runs really fast and has measurements and solid cut planes. It's called iCAD Professional and it has a free demo version, iCAD Free.
@smul08 There's a video on that somewhere - but basically get rid of any cross-wall connecting lines at corners and intersections - so everything push-pulls together as one mass. If you miss a couple - you can just dbl-click to repeat your push-pull.
ich brauche kein Plan von 2d. Der Plan ist bei mir das Programm selber gleich 3d mit dem ich es creiere. Ich finde, Pläne sind alt aus Zeiten von Papier.
You can scan a floor plan and use it as a photo. You can draw over it in Sketchup with the tools. But I don't think you can scan and have the file be immediately editable as a Sketchup file. You can start fresh in Sketchup and make your own floor plan. It shouldn't take very long.
This program is great. I like 'perfect' geometry. I like the stitching and alligning and everything. Sometimes I prefer this look over those realistic (more chaotic) geometry and textures you see in games. This is a perfect tool for interiors in games.

The walls are the same surface, you have to delete some lines created in the walls so the walls are all connected, creating one surface.

Pros that are expert at AutoCad 2d'3d use this.
Why do you think that is?

u can add door, windows components into holes!
niallfroggy 3 years ago
its just holes not doors or windows... someone's gotta get a good ass kicking from d lecturer/boss with these type of models..
aaronlim1988 3 years ago 2
Yeah, the door and window 'holes' can be turned into components. Each component can be edited into a more refined door or window.

The floor plan was imported from a CAD program. It's a great way to make a 3D model but you can also start from scratch and use your imagination.
